Professional Excellence and Pioneer Missions

And then, of course, they got into the professions, and in their profession, you know, it was professional excellence that counted. And they climbed high. Some of them never accomplished anything. A few became missionaries.

Meekness Personified in Christ

God used them to open up regions where there had been no returning to Christ. So, this work has gone into pioneer areas. We didn't compete with anybody. We never thought we were superior. Then God will reject us.

That meek spirit. Meekness, the very idea of meekness, had no relevance. Can't understand. Until it was personified in Jesus. Meekness and majesty. The king of kings. The maker of heaven and earth. Being born in a manger.

Vanity and Pride in the Church

Anyone here born in a manger? Ah, you know how our babies are spoiled today. Ah, you know, sometimes people want me to dedicate babies with gold already on their hands. No. We don't want gold on babies and infants.

Vanity. Pride. Far away from the spirit of Christ. So, this whole world today, is running after vanity. You know, when you talk of the Christian world in other countries, as well as here, all the world is in the church.

Nearly all of it. All the sins of the world are to be found also in the church. No real difference. And it's called the church of Jesus Christ. Only, it happens to be a few steps behind the world. How sad.

The Church Must Stand in Sanctification and Truth

Not a sanctified body. Not a body that takes its stand with truth. But, that is society today and that is the church in many areas, many places. You know, today, people think we need to have a lot of entertainment to draw souls.

Entertainment and the Attractional Church

You need partying also. And if you have parties, oh, you will draw young people. I addressed a special meeting for leaders and pastors of one diocese. Two of those men had just returned from England and having learned some of the latest methods of attracting young people.

Prayer Over Worldly Activities

And unfortunately, they selected the wrong preacher for that occasion. And that was me. And the bishop said, Now, Joshua Daniel will tell us how young people were attracted. I said, Some of us were sportsmen, excellent sportsmen.

But every evening, we went alone for prayer. Tournaments, matches, hockey, cricket, football, soccer, whatever. Athletic meets, whatever. College dinners, we would never miss.
