We're also going to take another stab at understanding the roots of our family issues. It's always a valuable exercise to get back to the basics on topics like this.
Parenting isn't about us. In fact, parenting isn't even about our kids. Parenting is just one way
Christian dads and moms are to worship God. So welcome to the Truth, Love, Parent podcast, where we train dads and moms to give
God the preeminence in their parenting. I'm your host, A .M. Brewster, and welcome to Season 35.
Wow, it's crazy that we've been podcasting that long. This September, we celebrate our 10th anniversary, and I'm very much looking forward to hitting that milestone.
So let's look at what we'll be studying this season. We're going to start with a discussion about parental woes.
But trust me, this episode probably won't be what you're expecting. We're not going to lament together the hardships that are parenting.
We're going to instead look at what Jesus has to say about spiritual leaders. Then we're going to talk about how to do confrontation the right way.
It's been said that no one likes confrontation. I've never fully believed that. I think there are people who don't like it, but there are definitely people who thrive off of it.
Unfortunately, that's often the problem. But God wants us to confront each other the right way.
When we do it the right way, we can have the same joy, peace, contentment, and gratitude in confrontation that we have in everything else.
Is your advice worth giving? It's far too easy for most people to toss out pithy gems or wax eloquent about ideas that truly have no real value.
But as parents, we have a very limited time with our kids to rear them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Therefore, we need to understand which advice is worth giving and which is worth ignoring.
From there, we're going to talk about something your kids absolutely need. They need to see God working.
And though it may be easy to agree with that statement in general, many of us are uncertain how to actually accomplish that.
That's why we're going to talk about it. Closely tied to the previous two topics, we're going to discuss giving your children something to believe.
Too often we give our kids stuff to think about and to feel, but we neglect to help them lay the very foundation of their entire lives, their worldview, and their belief system.
Then we're going to ask the question, is God blessing my parenting? We're going to discuss how to know if God is pleased by what you're doing and what to expect if He is.
We're also going to take another stab at understanding the roots of our family issues. It's always a valuable exercise to get back to the basics and grapple with the why behind the what of our family dysfunction.
Then we're going to look into the book of Proverbs to learn how to better convince our kids. Too often we use manipulation and propaganda tactics to convince our kids to do things, but we have divine tools
God wants us to use to persuade them of truth. And if all of this seems overwhelming or scary, our next episode is going to be how to be a courageous parent.
Then we'll end the season off looking at 2 Timothy to better understand and implement strategies for fighting the sinful culture of the world that so often pervades and influences our home.
I hope this little preview into the coming months excites you. The more you keep God's Word before your eyes, the more equipped you'll be to worship
Him with your parenting. As always, I'm honored to be walking this road with you, and I look forward to what
