In this huge country, every member of the family will rush home from all directions to celebrate the New Year. You may have seen this on newspapers, TV shows, and even on YouTube. In China's airports, train stations, and bus stops, there are always people rushing home.
This crowd is very lively and lively. Today is the New Year's Eve of the Chinese New Year. According to traditional customs, a family gathers together to eat a New Year's Eve meal. This is very meaningful.
This is just like how the Israelis gather together for a New Year's Eve feast. This is also similar to the Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Families gather together for a meal to show their gratitude.
Here, we would like to thank our friend, Chow Ling Hui. We invite you all to his restaurant to have a New Year's Eve meal together. After the New Year's Eve meal, we will all laugh and talk together. Tomorrow is the New Year's Eve of the Chinese New Year.
As the saying goes, the old will not go, and the new will not come. We pray to God to save us, to save us, and to renew all things. This is today's theme. Everything must be renewed. Today's scripture is the 5th chapter of the Book of Luke, chapter 1 -16.
Humans naturally like new things, new things, etc. Our culture believes that good things should be new. New things should be better. C .S .Rowey called this kind of culture the Age of Vision. It means that modern people wear vision glasses.
They see everything as old things or old things. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as new things or old things in the world. This is what is imprinted on them. Old immorality, immoral behavior, old greed, old desire, etc.
Because there is no Lord in their hearts. Individuals act at their own will. This is the 21st chapter of the Book of Luke, chapter 25. Although we have new packaging, new clothes, new images, etc. But we are unchanged.
When we welcome the coming New Year, we also welcome the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. In this scripture, the Lord Jesus brings 7 basic new things, new thoughts. Let's look at them one by one. The first one is recorded in chapter 5, verse 1 -11.
How did Jesus call Simon, James, and John? He had a new understanding of them. He realized their relationship with Jesus. In this scripture, it is recorded that Jesus boarded the ship of Simon. He left the shore of the lake and went ashore to teach the people.
After teaching the people, Jesus said to Simon, Open the ship to the depth of the lake and go fishing. We don't know what Simon was thinking at that time. Although he experienced the miracle of Jesus healing his mother-in-law's illness in her home.
He may be thinking, we have already washed the fish net. He may be saying, Father, we have been working all night and did not find anything. Here, Simon called Jesus, Father, with a sincere tone. But he still said, if I follow you, I will cast the net.
It is recorded in the Bible that they cast the net. After casting the fish net, they immediately caught a lot of fish. The fish net almost cracked. Simon called his companions to help. They filled the fish net with two boats.
Even the boat was about to sink. They were all surprised by the fish in the fish net. Suddenly, the Spirit of God opened Simon's heart. It updated his awareness of Jesus. At this time, Simon said before Jesus, Lord, I am a sinner.
He again realized that Jesus is the true Savior. And he himself is a sinner. In John's book, The Journey of the Way of Heaven, he describes the journey of a Christian. It is like experiencing despair.
When a sinner first met the Lord Jesus, many times they also realized their sin. There are many such examples in the Bible. For example, in Exodus 20, when Jehovah declared the Ten Commandments through Moses, the Israelites were afraid.
Second example, when Jehovah spoke to Jehovah, Jehovah, in despair, had to use his hands to cover his mouth. In Exodus 40, verse 41. Third example, when Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a high throne in the temple, he realized that he himself was a sinner.
This is recorded in Isaiah 6, verse 15. So many times, when we are in church, or at a sermon, or among our relatives and friends, when we hear the name of Jesus, we will be like Simon. When we hear the teaching of Jesus, and see his miracles, we do not really realize that he is Isaiah.
But when Jesus introduces himself to us, we will be surprised. In chapter 5, verse 9, we will also realize our sin. Second example, when we are in despair, we will be like Simon, saying to Jehovah, leave me, because I am a sinner.
We see clearly our emotions, hatred, pride, immoral behavior, money, hypocrisy, hypocrisy, etc. We are stuck in despair, unable to free ourselves. We can only rely on Jesus to save us. This is a new kind of consciousness.
When you realize that you are a sinner, and the Holy Spirit, the God of justice, is in your heart, can you not be afraid? Yes, you should be afraid. Here, Jesus says to Simon, do not be afraid. Jesus came to save the sinner.
You can only repent to him, because he has the power to save people from sin, death, and eternal life. At this time, Jesus said to Simon, from now on, you will have people. Simon, Jacob, and John have a new understanding of the Lord Jesus, and they have a new mission.
They are no longer fishermen. They have abandoned all their followers. The second is a new approach. This is recorded in chapter 5, verses 12 -16. Today is New Year's Eve. Tomorrow is the New Year. Are you a chef?
Are you a cook? This is a traditional Chinese custom. You must do this. You must clean the house. You must welcome the new village. It is said that one year is like a village. This is a good start. In this passage, we see Jesus near a patient who was socially isolated with a lot of measles.
He treated him and made him a new person. In chapter 12, this man came to the village. At that time, the person with measles was isolated and lived outside the village. When he saw Jesus, he fell on the ground and pleaded to Jesus, saying, Lord, if you will, you must let me approach you.
This man knew Jesus' power. He had the power to approach him. He knew that Jesus was a son of man. At that time, no one dared to approach the man with measles, let alone touch him. But Jesus reached out and touched him and said, if you will, you must let me approach you.
At that time, the measles on this man left his body because of Jesus' power. If you believe Jesus, Jesus will accept you and make you a new person. Jesus told this man not to tell anyone, because when Jesus did this, he wanted to approach him, not to please or welcome anyone.
Instead, he wanted this man to wear the sacrament of Jesus as instructed by Moses and to be examined by a doctor. Because he was a new person, he returned to the kingdom of God. Messiah is a God who is willing to let people approach him and make them a new person.
Thirdly, Jesus explained to the people his power and told them to recognize him again. There are the Pharisees and the Scholars. The Scholars are the teachers of the Law. Next to them, Jesus taught the people.
These people, we should say, they thought they were teaching the Word of God, that is, teaching the knowledge and authority of the Old Testament. Their explanation and teaching was the ultimate authority at the time.
They came to verify Jesus' teaching. In Jesus' teaching, someone put a stall or a shop in the middle of the street and was standing in front of Jesus. Verse 20. Jesus saw their confidence just as he saw the confidence of Simon and the people who grew up with the disease.
Jesus is Messiah, and has the power to set them free from their sins. So Jesus said to the stall, Your sins are forgiven. Notice, Jesus did not say that these people should become stalls. Instead, it was the confidence of the people who grew up with the disease.
They recognized Jesus as Messiah, and had the power to set them free from their sins. They set them free, and taught the people, including the Pharisees and the Gentiles, to recognize his power again.
He is the Son of Man, and is at war with God. So he has the power to set them free. But the Pharisees, the Gentiles, and the Gentiles all said, Who is this Messiah? Except for God, who can set them free?
They thought he was a fake God. Do you remember the example from last week? There was a man wearing the uniform of a traffic police officer, with five legs and five arms, who used the authority of a rich man to commit suicide.
This is the authority of a fake police officer to commit suicide. But Jesus is not like this. He is the Son of Man, and is at war with God. The Pharisees and the Gentiles should know that John is the Son of Man, and is at war with God.
He knows, Jesus knows, but he does not know what they are talking about. They say, I say, or say, your sin is forgiven, or say, you get up and walk. Which is easier? Of course, from a human perspective, the former is easier, because this is something that humans cannot prove.
But, Jesus is the Son of Man, and is at war with God. He is at war with God. He is at war with God. He is at war with God. So he told the Pharisees, get up, pick up your rags, and go home. The Pharisees immediately got up, took the rags they were carrying, and went home.
He did not need any physical treatment, so he could get up and walk home. Jesus was here, walking with his adults, calling out to everyone, including the Pharisees and the scribes, to recognize again the sin he had committed, and to realize that he was the Savior Christ.
Everyone gathered, and gave the glory to God, and were filled with fear, saying, we have seen a terrible thing today. Yes, we have also realized a terrible thing today. That is, God has given his only begotten Son to the world.
Those who believe in him will not die, but will live forever. So, do not be surprised, do not be afraid. Only those who have faith in the Savior Christ will be saved. Fourth, Jesus told us to recognize his great mission.
In chapter 5, verse 32, he said, I was not to be redeemed by others, but by sinners. This is what Jesus chapter 5, verse 27 -31. Jesus came to be redeemed by sinners. At that time, taxes were the Roman Empire's duty to collect taxes from the Jews.
Therefore, these taxes were not welcomed by the Jews, let alone the Jews themselves. Therefore, rejected. In the eyes of the Jews, taxes were the sin of the sinners. Jesus came here and saw the tax collector sitting on the coffin.
His name was Matthew. As we said earlier, Jesus is the God of insight. What does he need most in his heart? Not the position nor the money in his hand. On the contrary, it was he who was finally set free.
Jesus then said to him, Follow me. Jesus' words were full of power. So he left all his possessions to follow Jesus. He gave up his wealth, his job of and followed Jesus. Perhaps to witness his new life to his or to preach to them about Jesus, he stayed at his own home and prayed for Jesus.
Many tax collectors and others worked with Jesus. At this time, these high-ranking and righteous tax collectors and tax collectors asked Jesus, Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and the criminals?
Perhaps they thought that if Jesus was God, he should be angry with these criminals and judge them. They saw the food in Jesus' eyes but they did not realize that there was food in their eyes. They did not realize that they were also criminals.
Jesus said to them, Those who are not sick do not need a doctor. Those who are sick need a doctor. Perhaps some tax collectors thought, Jesus, you are right. I am healthy. Those evil tax collectors are the sick ones.
They need a doctor. Jesus continued, I was not changed by the righteous, but by the criminals. At this time, Jesus pointed out that these tax collectors and tax collectors are also criminals. Here we see that Jesus is a friend of the criminals.
Jesus helped them to realize that they themselves are criminals and need to be changed. Jesus was close to the criminals but was not led or trapped. Troubles made them realize their own crimes. So we should not help or alienate these criminals.
Even if they did not accept the Lord Jesus, these criminals are those who have not yet accepted the Lord Jesus. Instead, we should help them to realize the Lord Jesus Christ. Fifth, Jesus taught people to realize the Lord Jesus Christ in a new way from the perspective of religion or the system of religion.
The tax collectors criticized the Christians for not following the principles of religion, such as fasting and prayer. Instead, Jesus pointed out that they were led by the devil and paid no attention to the situation and ignored the bridegroom.
At this time, Jesus compared himself to the bridegroom, the bridegroom of Israel. His disciples celebrated with him on the feast. This must be done. How can we ask people to fast? When did these people fast?
When they have a new understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ's commandment to accomplish God's gift, when they put themselves on the cross, they have to fast. So here, Jesus said about the religious doctrine of walking dead, there is no religion in which the Lord Jesus can enter God's kingdom.
Jesus in the 36th to the 38th chapter, used two metaphors to explain the new understanding of the Lord Jesus. His first metaphor was to use the New Testament to explain the superficial New Religion such as the New Testament Jesus used another metaphor to put the new wine which means the new understanding of the Lord Jesus in the old belt.
The old belt means the Jewish religion at that time. The new wine broke the belt and the wine came out. The belt also broke. This can be said to be a matter of chance. Therefore, Jesus said the new wine must be put in the new belt.
Jesus used this metaphor to explain the new understanding of the Lord Jesus will enter God's kingdom, which is the place of the New Testament. In the 39th chapter, Jesus also tested the stubborn Pharisees.
They drank the old wine, which is the Jewish religion, and they wanted to drink the new wine, which is the Christian religion centered on Jesus Christ. But they always said the old is better. That is to say, they adhered to the old and were stubborn.
They could not enter God's kingdom. The sixth point is to re-recognize the host is the Lord Jesus Christ. In chapter 6, verse 1 -5, the Pharisees saw the disciples of Jesus kneeling on the cross and rubbing their hands together in order to be struck.
They rubbed their hands against the disciples and told them what they should not have done. Jesus knew that this was the rebellion of the Pharisees and it was the doctrine of man. Jesus quoted the Bible in chapter 5, verse 3 -4.
The King David and his followers entered the temple and took the orange cake and ate it. At that time, except for the priest, no one else could eat the cake. Jesus once again revealed that the ritual was not a religious spiritual or spiritual spirit.
What the King David did was to violate the doctrine of man. This is recorded in Luke 24, verse 9. But the Bible does not quote what the King David did. This is the first point. The second point is that Jesus is the Son of Man, the Son of God.
Even though the King David said this in chapter 1, Jesus is His Lord. Jesus, the Son of Man, is the Lord of the Day of Resurrection. This is recorded in Luke 6, verse 5. Jesus told the Pharisees to recognize Him again as the Son of Man.
In the Day of Resurrection, what He should do was to do good, to save lives, to heal, and so on. He healed a man who was alone in the Day of Resurrection. Jesus is the Lord He has the power, authority, and justice to save lives.
He is also the Lord of the Day of Resurrection. The seventh point is that Jesus chose twelve people to call them His disciples. These twelve people will recognize the kingdom of God again. They will be the followers of the Church.
A new, holy kingdom is the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Israel. Brothers and sisters, many times, the world is only equipped with new, glorious, smooth, and accomplished wine. If you are thirsty for the old wine, there is a man who will provide new wine for you.
At this time, He is calling you. You must throw away your money, your career, your world, and your mind. Jesus said, Look, I will renew everything. Exodus 21, verse 5. What about you? Will you be a renewed man?
