The Gospel Portraits of Jesus

In the next few moments we are going to take some studies from the pictures of the Hebrews. This morning I thought we might consider one of the best-known chapters in the Bible, the 15th chapter in the Gospel recited by John.

But often we hear people talk about the four Gospels. Actually, it's not that there are not four Gospels. There's only one Gospel told by four different people. And they all have a different exchange on it.

The one picture of Matthew is to show us Jesus Christ as a king. And Mark shows Jesus Christ as a servant. And Luke shows Jesus Christ as being totally dependent upon God. And John shows Jesus Christ as God is God and God is God.

If you want to discover the kingdom of Jesus, I think it's a very wonderful study. And again, we have the account of Jesus sitting on this side of the circle. But this time it is not so much as a nice little pillow.

When you see this side of the circle, which is almost... I think it's not so much a normal size of the... And take a look at the figures on the left. There's nothing over that wall. It's like something tall.

And on the far side is the story of the transfiguration. A very wonderful story. And I would like to ask you this. If Moses got into the covenant land, you'd say, Well, no, no, he did not get into heaven, but he did get in.

It took him a couple of thousand years to get there, but if it took you that long to get in, you'll get out of here. And he got out after about 2 ,000 years, because there was no earth on the moon. And what Jesus was transfigured, but again, this says that it was not in his time he was transfigured.

And it's not going to get transfigured. You know, it wasn't his time to be transfigured. The scripture is also a document by the Nicodemus guy, but he didn't have time for this world, but he was transfigured.

And again, what I would like to ask you is the story of the world transfigured. Was he transfigured by the revealing of the remaking of his personality? You know, it says that it was the appearance of Jesus being crucified, and Luke says that it was when he was 10, that his face was on the ground, and he was in a chair inside of the prison.

And so the angels of Luke saw this Jesus, and it's said that he saw the angels on this side of the mount, but John doesn't say the things that the others say. John is a particular angel says, You know what it means.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke had nothing to confess against the Son. They had nothing to confess against the child of Jesus, the Lord's child. And the child we call the Lord's child, we have a Lord's child as well.

It's a disciple's child. The Lord's child is John 17. And if you have him in two sections, verses 1 to 5, 6 to 19, and 20 to the end, and it says the Lord Jesus chose for himself, and another chose for his disciples, and then he chose for the world.

And that's not what he's worded. We need to pray and not tell. That's what it says in the Bible, and that's what it says in the first chapter of John, that this man said, and it's true. I need a little tuning in England.

There used to sing a hymn, I often say my prayers, but do I ever pray? And I've been to pray meetings, and wondered what it was all about. I'm sure I may be told, but anyhow, there's that too. But I often say my prayers, do I ever pray?

The Word Became Flesh and the Life of Jesus

Now, John's gospel is a very beautiful, wonderful interpretation of the life of Jesus. And I think you can disagree whether you like to do that. It's covered by the fifth amendment. And you can see the whole of the gospel, I think, is convinced in the very first verse of the first chapter.

In the beginning was the world, and the world was his God, and the world was God's. In the beginning was the world, so Christ was in the beginning, in eternity, and the world was his God, the world was his God, in solitude.

And the world was God. And they went on to make this very, very wonderful interpretation of the life of Jesus. Again, they're still making a different emphasis, and they think of this 15th chapter, like every other chapter of the word of God, as an excerpt of this.

Somebody once asked the famous American evangelist, Dear lady, how do you know the Bible is inspired? And he said, because it inspires me. And I think that's a very good answer. It has an eternal freshness.

Abiding in Christ and the Fruitful Vine

And one of the secrets, I think, of John 15, is this, that it tells us a secret of maintaining the fullness of the Spirit. Now, you can pick up a dozen different books, and they'll all give you a different interpretation of the fullness of the Spirit, how to get into the fullness.

But in order to do it perfectly, you have to maintain the fullness. And the secret of abiding in the Christian life is abiding in the Christian life. The secret of communion is union. Now, as soon as this 15th chapter, and I hope you will, not now, but when you get retired from that, I mean, getting a go, the best background to John 15 is the Ezekiel 15.

You can read that when we go somewhere down to Ezekiel today. But in the 15th chapter of Ezekiel, it says there that what use is the vine? And then it says that the vine is no use at all. I remember being in a conference in Canada a few years ago, and there was a very famous missionary there, and he had a marvellous collection of souvenirs that were picked up in the Middle East.

He had a very beautiful javelin given to him by the king of Saudi Arabia. He had a number of very precious and rare antiques. And amongst the many things that he had, he had some very beautiful javelins.

And one was a lovely tall, beautiful comet. It looked so holistic, you thought it might walk away, but then it walked, and the wood was beautifully round. And I said to him, now, this is a very unusual javelin, and it's very unusual wood, and he said, yes, it certainly is.

That piece of wood was in Palestine, and I got this letter saying this office, the covet, and it happens to be wood from the Alice Cove. It was very beautifully carved, it was from the Alice Cove. Then I went on a carving ride, and I said, well, this isn't from the Alice Cove, and he said, no, this is knuckle wood.

Now, believe it or not, knuckle wood is only grown in Palestine in America. That may prove to be one of the last cards, I don't know, but I'm sorry to tell you. The thing is that this wood is very beautiful wood, and it was very distinct and different from the wood on the covet.

And then I had another piece of javelin, and I said, well, this is not knuckle wood, and this is not, obviously, olive wood, and he said, no, this is from a student of Lebanon. And I said to him, you've been in the Middle East for 30 years, did you ever see anything carved onto the wood of the Zion?

And he said, no, I never did, but I never thought about it until now. And he said, you can't carve anything onto the wood of the Zion, and I said, well, it's useless. You don't buy furniture out of the wood of the Zion.

You don't make anything out of it. You see a vine growing, and it's just this way, and another one sits just that way, and it's more like a cactus. The vine is only produced for one reason, and that is that it made their fruit.

It's not there to be an ornament, but an instrument. And I told you that was true of the Church of Jesus Christ. They're not here to be an ornament, but an instrument. The Church is only here for one purpose, and that is that it made their fruit collectively, as a group of people, or individually, but the fruits of the Spirit to be manifest in us.

In other words, the Church of Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, to go on forever. In other words, He is unchanging. Now, Christ is the head of the body, and He is unchanging. How in the world has the body got so changed, when the head is the same?

The Church, Apostolic Power, and the Supernatural

The Church of Jesus is not the Church that we are. You've got a Church coming on, and you don't expect God to come. You expect the preachers of the Lord to give you a good sermon, so you can criticize it.

But apart from that, we don't usually expect God to come. We talk about Him coming, we pray for His coming, we say, they criticize us like this, but they found out 50 years ago, and I was a little boy in England, and in several churches in Africa.

And I'm so convinced in my own mind that God is trying to get through to His Church to go. He must be. There's no hope for this world unless the Church gets back to its apostolic power. And I think that the problem again is not amongst the liberals, the problem is amongst the fundamentalists, you know, the Baptists.

But some of them have outlawed the Supernatural. If you talk about holy, holy, righteous, whatever that is, you're going to have to order a rabbit. But apart from that, the thing is that somehow they've outlawed the Supernatural, they've outlawed the miraculous, they've outlawed the miracles.

And I remember spending an hour in the morning, an hour at night, defending a man that died 2 ,000 years ago. I was talking to a boy in a village in New York, and we were on a plane for a while, we were dog racing, and this boy just kind of sniffed, and he said, well, of course I don't go to church.

And sitting there in his wet jeans, he began to smoke down the street. He was after God. He said there was a certain man named Nicodemus, the ruler of the Jews, who came to Jesus by night, and he decided to help us, and have that church a different way.

In fact, when I used to go to church, I used to relax, sit down, and say, oh, here he comes again, Nicodemus, the saviour, sweet Messiah. So am I, Nicodemus, so am I, spirit. Nothing good, there's nothing good in church here.

Again, this is the difference between a man who works in service in the church, and the presence of the Spirit of God. After all, in the second chapter, Jesus is being told that the Holy Ghost is God, and he's telling the Holy Ghost to come to God.

And some people say the Holy Ghost is just a word for spiritualistic people. Well, that's exactly what he isn't. That isn't a word translation in the word come to God. In any case, the word come to God is from a Latin word, consortis, and consortis means with strength.

And so what Jesus says is when this person is going to seek a saviour, when he is coming to his strength, he's coming to his power. Not the Holy Ghost picking you up and nursing you, pampering you, and protecting you, and all the side effects of the wicked one.

No, he doesn't do this. That comes from Jesus' power that he might be an attacker of others, while Satan still has a stronghold. It's starting in the promise where the Holy Ghost is. And there's nothing more good.

Pentecost and the Sovereign Work of the Holy Spirit

A commentary about the Holy Ghost is as effective as an actual sermon. If you want to know how that's like, just turn around, have a taste, between the knees. What is my God? The God of sorts. Some old boy who thinks of himself as carrying on God.

He begins every prayer meeting after he wakes up, have a sitting up, and pray the Lord to save him, and get him out of the way, because for him there's a plan he's in. And sometimes, you know, we have to do this kind of thing.

I was in a church not too long ago. I had a brother impress me, at least try to impress me, by the fact that he had a wonderful New Testament church in our city. This is very interesting. I've been around the world a couple of times looking for this kind of thing.

I've never found one yet. Oh, he had a wonderful church. He told me about its virtues, and they were very good. And I said to him, when did you last begin a Sunday morning meeting by killing two of your members?

And he said, I don't know what you mean. I said, well, that's Pentecost. Isn't that just strange? I've never heard. They had a couple of hypocrites in the church, and the preacher said, yesterday night, go go around and ask, did you do so and so?

And he said, yes. He said, you're the last. And he thinks carry him out. And his wife came in a bit later, and she told a lie, and he said, carry him out. And they started a Pentecost meeting that morning by killing two members, two hypocrites.

Now, I think they were the hypocrites who had nobody else, but at least hardly, but anyhow. Well, that's the way they began an apostolic day. You see, we go to bed and look at this, and then that interpretation of something else, but any holy ghost comes.

If he comes into the individual life, he comes to completely transform that life. He comes to rule it with sovereign power. Now, I told you that in a speech in here, Jesus says, I am the father, and my father is the husband of me.

The Indwelling Presence of God

If you read this chapter carefully, you'll discover that eight times the word truth is mentioned, and nine times the word abide is mentioned, and ten times the name of the father is mentioned, and ten times that living word is mentioned.

I remember reading of Dr. O .B. Simpson, the founder of the Christian and National Alliance, who was speaking in a great conference, in New York, I believe, and one distinguished speaker took the first part of the meeting, and he gave a very interesting talk on the life of the believer, and he both moved interpretation on the word counteraction, which is really the Catholic interpretation, counteraction, that sin is not destroyed, it's counteracted.

You don't get one in New Orleans, it's in the basement in 3930 America, and so he went on and gave his interpretation of counteraction. The next speaker got up and he gave a very fiery interpretation, and said that he did not believe in counteraction, he believed in eradication, that the only one can be put out, put to death, and so forth and so on.

And O .B. Simpson was wondering now, who would do? Would he stand behind this man, or stand behind this man? What should he do? Should he emphasize eradication, or should he emphasize the other point of view?

Counteraction. And then he stood up and he said, well, now you've had a very wonderful talk on eradication, you've had a very good talk on counteraction, and now much of this learning is on abdication.

Abdication. So, at last, the very first, a very learned Chinese scholar, some time ago, and then he observed a reader from the Koran, and the great Bibles, as we might call them, of the great religions in the world.

Have you read the New Testament? And he said, yes, I have. What was the most startling thing you saw in the New Testament? He said, I've read it four times. And there's just one thing that just blows me every time I read it.

Mr. O .B. Simpson said he observed the mystery of the Incarnation, that God is constructed to expand and is comprehensibly made by man. But it wasn't that. Well, this isn't a revelation. After all, these are the works of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is brewed in the beginning over chaos and out of it brought chasm. The same Holy Spirit brewed it in the matrix of the Virgin Mary and conceived Jesus Christ. The same Holy Spirit brewed it over a bunch of men, nobles and people in the upper room, and they went out and turned the world upside down.

No, no, no, no, no. What is the most startling thing in the New Testament? He said, the last verse in Ephesians 2, where it says, You, if you are the world believer, you are the habitation of God. There is no other religion in the world where a man's God comes from the inside of him.

He said, if you don't know our God, that Jesus came into the world to make bad men good. He didn't. That's a King's benefit. He said that, but that isn't what he said. He didn't come into the world to make bad men good.

I know some men who are mad Christians who are better than secular Christians. I know some really wonderful men that I would say are perfect gentlemen. Not only officially, you can't put a finger on them, and they are very right to them.

They have their own rights. They have their own beautiful homes. They have great businesses. Not to say that those men are some of the rascals I know who profess to be Christians. Jesus didn't come into the world to make bad men good.

He came into the world to make bad men men. You can't put your finger on the life of someone, but you have to say this, that while they are not wrong in their relationship with other men, they are wrong in their relationship with God.

He doesn't have the rights of their personality. They step it out. And that's the way we sit in the world. John said that, but here in the 16th chapter. When the spirit is gone, and he is coming, we convince the world it's true.

Repentance, Conviction, and Spiritual Maturity

And the righteousness and the goodness have sinned because they got drunk, no? Have sinned because they committed adultery, no? Have sinned because they steal or lie, no? They may do this and this and sin, but John Adderley, Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, when he is come, he will convince the world it's true because they believe not in you.

Number one point in unbelief. Now I guess we've got over that now, at least I hope so. I know that you are really concerned about progress in the Christian life. I'd like to come back to Turkey to stay some time to learn this.

If anyone is here to do it, seeks easy life and doesn't have to become a Christian, know me a couple of hours ago and I promise you I'll bring it. Because what I might teach is a lesson. You can't outline the steps of how God is going to make them up.

If you came to this altar and you came in drunkenness and consistence, and Jesus Christ became your Lord and your Savior, and the Holy Ghost possessed you, all I could do is shake hands and say, I'll see you stand out in eternity.

Because I don't know which way it's going to take you. Now this figure says, I am the true vine, and my father is the husband. While he says the figure of the vine, doesn't matter to him. But God didn't concern, nor did any spiritual attempt to be a manly vine, long as God was going to be generous to him.

As I am the manly thing, so am I, too. And when I was outside, you had the different messages of God's presence as a vine. The letter clearly says, I am the true vine, and my father is the husband. Now, what do I think?

Divine Pruning and the Cost of Nearness to God

The Lord answers our prayers, but He describes His answer when it comes. I close the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promises not read. But what people are thinking, when their stomachs and throats are full of the spiritual, oh, to the light we bless a redeemer.

Well, what do you mean? Do you mean to the light, when in the desert the prophet goes alone? Do you mean to the light, when he ends up suddenly battered, when he's by himself? Do you mean to the light, when he's poor and rejected of men?

Is that what I'm asking for? I think our life needs a little correction, a little improvement, and then the Father starts doing something, He starts cleaning, and God is never mortal to us, and then He's cleaning.

How could He be? But you say, Lord, I want to be spiritual. You say, draw me nearer and nearer, blessed Lord, and one of the things lets you down, and somebody else leads you out of the bank, and they've had you for five years, and they let you out of the bank, and another thing starts getting in your way, and you say, draw me nearer, and you feel a natural, and you bless the poor to us, and you say, Lord, I will, and He says, draw me nearer and nearer, blessed Lord, and He says, one of the ways I can draw you nearer to myself is to draw you further away from people.

And I say to you, but when you start to tell me, Lord, I don't understand it. Well, you've got to catch up and ask the Lord what you're talking about. You're telling the Lord that you want me to get nearer and closer, all right, let's let this one go.

You say, I don't have much joy. Lord, give me joy. I'm telling you, it comes with a sorrow, not necessarily a grievance, maybe the spirit of heaviness, maybe a whole heart, Lord, but it comes with a misunderstanding.

You say, you know, I prayed for joy, and I got this, Lord, I don't understand it. Well, that's because you haven't remembered your Bible. You think the only joy for, for what? You think you're in a spray bottle so you can spray yourself all over with joy and feel happy and start having a feeling, you know.

You say, Lord, my life isn't very beautiful, it doesn't always look nice, you know. And you say, Lord, the only joy that the Lord will start is a beauty curse. And most of us need it. I don't know how Lord is going, so I never see an improvement.

There are some millions of dollars, but it doesn't do anything for the money. But on the other side, the King's daughter is always, Lord, you know, so if you want the oil of joy, give His oil of joy for morning.

He's been beautiful all history. He has to be burned up in my life, and then I can get cursed in this. He's been beautiful, the oil of joy for morning, and the diamonds are crazy for the spirit of heaviness.

I think maybe I've got some problems in the Christian place. Maybe you don't have them, but I think it's necessary sometimes to face up to these factors. Now Jesus says, I am the true God, and my Father is my husband.

Abiding in the Vine and Bearing Fruit

And every branch that died of truth isurgical. You say, Lord, I'm going to run away. I've never been butchered, and I am right now. And right away, He starts cursing and cursing. And you say, well, you know, I thought the Lord would have left you alone.

I'm doing so well. Well, that was only your decision. And since you like yourself so much, it could be wrong. What we say is the Lord says we need an improvement. And so He comes again, and He's just been coming, and nothing is completely right in the mind.

My Father is the husbandman. I guess you think sometimes that Jesus has to be the husbandman. He has to let something out for it, and He puts the knife in somebody else. And maybe the Lord uses Him to that end, but actually, in it, really behind it all, my Father is the husbandman.

And every branch in you that died of not truth is taken away. And every branch that died of truth is taken away, because it is that it may bring forth no truth. And He says, now you are clean to the word which I have spoken unto you.

Abide in me. Again, I say that word, of course, so many times in this country. And an emphasis of it would be to read the epistles that the very wonderful man John wrote. I was speaking of a very lovely city in the north, John's office a few years ago, and a man came to me and said, he wrote me a letter.

I didn't know he had been in anything, but he had, and he wrote me a letter, and it was a letter. It should have been written in alphabetic, but it was full of sorrow and bitterness. And he said, in essence, I don't like your preaching.

Well, maybe you do. But afterwards, you say times with me, and I thank you, because I don't like it either. It could be a lot better than it is, but he says, the main reason I don't like your preaching is you haven't found repentance from it.

Now, you can't find the word repentance in the Gospel of John. It was the last Gospel that was written. And the word was already obsolete. Nobody talked about repentance, and you know, everything is in Christ.

Well, he didn't know his Bible too well, I'm sure. You've got to actually say the last word of Jesus to the churches would work to make it, won't it? The last word of Jesus to the churches was repent.

Repent, repent, repent. The revelation of Jesus Christ to the southern churches over and over and over and over again, he said repent. Well, it's true that repentance isn't mentioned in the Gospel of John.

I think the lawyers would call that the argument of silence. The biggest part of that, remember, John doesn't mention devils. I don't think he mentions the word faith. I don't think he talks about children.

Are these all absolute truth? Again, John's emphasis is entirely different. John is trying to make us realize again the eternity of Jesus Christ through the Father. The power of the Son of God. This man, John, is so excited with abiding beneath him, and he's opposed to it.

Spirituality Beyond Intellectualism

You know, we're living in a world where everyone has a tremendous emphasis put on an intellectualism in the church of God. Now, I don't think we should be stupid. Most of us can do that without saying that.

I think we should be spiritual, and I think we should be intellectual, and I think we should be knowledgeable. But not putting an angel emphasis on this. I said, if you don't have an answer in the church, it doesn't have certain degrees within the church.

I said, it's about 42 degrees in the church of Satan that I think the church is losing its congregational God degrees anyhow. You see, the things of the spirit are spiritual, not psychologically designed.

The man that had the best interpretation of the Word of God that I have many years lived on the river here in Lourdes was a coal miner. He had never been to college, which was an advantage. And he got a new job.

And that's where Jesus came and got us together, a group of intellectuals. We gathered 50 of them, and we gathered a church gathering, a few other people. And these boys, and there's several countries in the world, and if you want to elevate the ministry, but we'll be elevating it for years, and the congregations have gone down, and this country's left.

That's all there's left in the end of the sun, and you remember that pink and brown went up to the center of the art of prayer, and there was a miracle work, and when they did, they were taken before the judges, and the judges didn't say anything against the ministry.

After the man had been crouched to the door of the church for about 25 years, and nobody could help him, the B .B.'s and the Ph .D.'s and the other B.'s, they left him sickled at the door. But a man came along, and he said, So many God I have none.

He never heard another evangelist speak on that. But, So many God I have none, but such as I have given unto thee. And he said to him, and immediately the man sprang to life. And he went down the middle aisle of the cathedral leaping and praising God, and that really upset the other church.

It's like Billy Graham's story of the blue-collared lady that went to England and she went to some church cathedral, and she got blessed and found again, and she started glory. And that really knocked the preacher out of his pride, and then the third time she got blessed, and she started praising brother.

And the steward came down the aisle and he said to her, Now lady, you don't do that in this place. He said, I've got religion. He said, You may have, but you didn't get it here. Well, some people like their own brand, you know, you mustn't make any expression.

The Power of Apostolic Testimony

But Peter, soon this man healed, and he went leaping down the center of the church, leaping and praising God and glorifying God, and so they hauled him up to the intellectuals of the day, and it says that when, when they couldn't get any other answer, they thought they'd rub their noses in the dust, and they said concerning Peter and John, These men are unlawful in ignorance.

And you know, we can't swallow that. Oh, brother, that kills you. If the dirty,.

Rotten, sinful world outside says that we're unlawful in ignorance, the judgment of the world almost put us in the dust. So we were singing two minutes ago, Thou, O Christ, art all I want, and more than all in thee.

I find that if the world criticizes, we go sour. And we're awfully.

Hurt. Let.

Me remind you, son, that the man that was called unlawful in ignorance is the man that wrote this marvelous gospel, and then after that he wrote three other bestsellers, his first and second and third epistles, and then to make God worse, as the Irish said, You know what that ignorant man did?

He wrote the Book of the Revelation that baffles all the wise men. If I didn't know this, I'm a candidate for it right now. This is God's ignorance to all the learning of the mess. You can see the man on the moon, that doesn't make him smile anyhow.

The wisdom of this world is foolishness of God. But I believe that God is going to shake everything that can be shaken in the generic we live. The American economy is very wobbly right now. And in a few years we may be standing in deadlines.

Mr. LBJ kicked his friend into the oil banks. Very interesting story, isn't it? You can get free records if you have about $18 on a system called Illuminati. I don't know who published them, but I heard them not long ago.

They're scared of how the monetary system of the world has been dominated for the last 200 years, right down to the day in which we live. It's a very, very frightening thing. Or you can get a little bit on, I forgot what it was called, what was it called, Martha?

The profound revolution. That is super sleepless for the week. And if you want to be sleepless for the second week, you can buy one on the deck of the dollar. You say, well I don't care, I've got a dollar in my pocket.

And what do they say on that dollar? They say, I've got one. Yes, I have. My wife didn't know that. At the top it says Federal Reserve, and you say that's good. I heard of a doctor that, a banker went to see his doctor recently and the doctor said, man, you're in good shape.

It was sound as a dollar, and the doctor fainted. I mean the banker fainted because he knew the dollar was in place. Federal Reserve, you know that isn't a penny that you have in your pocket owned by the American government?

That's not government money. It's owned by Rockefeller, Drew Thompson, and about six other families. It's got nothing to do with the American government. Because the government controlled it all. It's a private corporation.

Oh no, no, it's not very sound. Look at a lot of other things too. The moral situation. The secret rising that we know of, at least it's suggested that in most of the capital cities that are, weapons are being stopped by, according to a report by the Black Panther movement and what not, and we're teetering on the edge of revolution.

And I believe that everything that can be shaken according to the word of God is going to be shaken in the days in which we live. And the only thing that will have died will be the church of the living God.

Everything is going to be overthrown, and so therefore, you've got to have your roots very deep in God, otherwise the storm is going to boil us over. And let everybody else, if they like, say they're unlearned and ignorant.

Healing, Gifts, and the Wisdom of God

There are times when even the learned men run to church and ask somebody to pray for them. Pray to the sick. You know, I've heard fellows say, I heard preachers say, I don't believe in healing. And you know, those fellows spend half the time in hospitals praying for the sick.

Now, if you're a pastor and pray to the sick and they die, you're all right. But if they get better, you're a healer. You're in trouble. So you just pray and pray they'll die, and you won't have any criticism.

See? But if you pray and they get healed, you'll be in real trouble. Immigrant men. And look at the insight that these men have. There are secrets in every science, and I remember some years ago, we had built a church in England, and we decided to landscape it.

One night an old man came and he leaned over the picket fence and he said, well, what are we going to do here? I said, we're going to lay the garden out here with grass, and we're going to lay some flowers over here, and here we're going to have two rows of beds.

And he said, do you know how to grow roses? I said, no. All I know is you dig a hole and stick a plant in it. He said, well, that won't do much good. If you want to grow roses, there's one way to do that.
