Hello, welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy King, and it is a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 52. It says, I have remembered your judgments from of old, or from everlasting,
O LORD, O Yahweh, and comforted myself. Let me ask you a question. What brings you comfort in life?
What sort of things do you look to? What sort of things do you call upon? What sort of things do you have in your life that brings you comfort?
Because, my friends, you will need comfort in this life. There are many times when you will need to be comforted.
There are other times when you will need to be the comforter, comforting other people. But we need to be comforted.
Comfort and peace and bringing a sense of calm into the things of life are very helpful.
Because many times we're dealing with various challenges and things we face, and it's good to have a great deal of comfort in finding, you don't need to take this too far, but there may be a particular food that brings you comfort, or activity, or things like that.
Well, I would encourage you to realize that the greatest comfort you can have is from God Himself.
He says, I have remembered your judgments from of old. He says, I'm remembering all the things you've done in my life, all the judgments where you've made, declared things, and you've said, this is right, and this is wrong, and you've made judgments and taken action in my life.
And He says, I'm remembering these things, O Lord, and I am comforting myself by them.
So the way in which this applies to us is we think on, if you ever have sat around and shared testimonies of what the good
Lord has done in your life, or heard a testimony of what the Lord has done in someone else's life, and the judgments and the right decisions that God has made, and we always say, well, hindsight's 20 -20, it's easy to look back and say, well, okay,
I see what the Lord was doing there. When you're in it, it's like, man, it's overwhelming, and it's like, this is all
I can see, and I just don't see an end to this, and you don't feel very comforted.
Well, it's by looking back on what God has done that we can be comforted in the moment in what
He is doing, and also have a hope and a sense of comfort for what our future will look like.
So if you can place your hope in the God of the past, you can place your hope in the God of the present and the
God of the future, because He's the same God. It's the same Yahweh. The same Yahweh of your past is the
Yahweh of your present, and the Yahweh of your future, and He is the Lord. Now, the psalmist is comforted by Him and by these things, and I want you to be comforted by these things as well.
