Hello there and welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again.
Today we're looking at Psalm 119 verse 40. Yes, we've made it to verse 40.
Behold, I long for your precepts. Revive me in your righteousness. You see a lot of these repeated refrains throughout
Psalm 119. A lot of talking about how I long for your word. I long for your testimonies.
I long for your judgments. Here in verse 40, I long for your precepts, your truth, your standards, the way you want me to live.
We also see revive me in your righteousness. Back in verse 31, he says, I cling to your testimonies.
Things like make me understand your ways. My soul needs to be revived according to your word.
It said in verse 25. So we see all these phrases repeated. You say, well, why have such a long psalm?
If we could have just hated each little thing that's said in four or five verses. It ends up being all these verses and it's just different ways of saying it.
Well, my friends, every day that you live is a different day. It should be the same you.
It should be a you that's growing in righteousness and developing and being sanctified. But it's a new day with its own evils and its own challenges, your own opportunities to live for the
Lord. And at times you're gonna feel maybe a little down or maybe like you're in a rut or in a plateau and that you need to get moving.
And we need to constantly remind ourselves these things. That's why it's important to rehearse and repeat and memorize scripture so you can remind yourself, we have this all in one book here and one psalm in our
Bible, but this psalm could have taken a long time to write. And it could be that he got this point and said, hey,
I need to stop here and remind myself. I need to be longing for the word of God. It needs to be a true desire of my heart that I am reaching out for it.
I'm moving towards it because it revives me. It's what keeps me up. It's what keeps me moving forward.
The righteousness of Christ, the righteousness of God, which is in us and dwells us, that is what gets us up in the morning.
It's what gives us breath. It's what gives us our longings and our desires and everything that's in us that wants to be
Christ -like. It's why we love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength because he's given us a new heart.
He's made us a new creature in Christ. And so we need to be longing for the word of God to study it, to learn it, to apply it, and be revived in the sheer, beautiful righteousness of Christ, that unstained by sin, that beautiful, pure, holy righteousness that becomes ours in salvation and that we learn to live out and become and have it be more of our actions and our behavior as we are sanctified and grow in Christ -likeness.
So beautiful words here, beautiful reminder. I hope you have this in your mind all day long.
Stop at your lunch break, stop at different times, and just remind yourself to long for the precepts of God. Be revived in his righteousness, revived in who the
Lord is as you draw closer to him. Amen? Well, I wanna thank you for joining me on this daily bite of God's Word.
