Psalm number 68, reading at verse 11. The Lord gave the Word. The first five words of verse 11 is, The Lord gave the Word. There is something wonderful about a statement like this because it seems to sum up very, very simply, exactly every conversion that has ever taken place, right from the days of our blessed Lord in the days of His public ministry.
It's the Lord that gave the Word in creation. For we can understand, even as we were hearing today, as far as the Word is concerned, it was the Lord that gave the Word in creation. He said, and it was done.
And at every particular day, the first day, the second day, and so on, that what was brought into existence, there was late. And God said, let there be late. And it was done. And of course, the second day had to do with the firmament, and the firmament was brought into existence.
Was it the third day that there was the gathering of the waters and the dry land appearing? And it was done. The Lord gave the Word. Now, before I go any further to all of my unsaved audience in the meeting this evening, is it possible, is it possible that you are looking for something more than you're ever going to receive?
Is it possible that you are overlooking the power and the simplicity of what the Lord said? He gave the Word. And if He gave the Word, then how is it that the creation itself, how did it come all into existence?
It came by the Word of His power. So if creation was established, if the mountains were established, and if the hills were established, and if the waters were collected together, and the dry land appeared on the authority of His Word, is it not possible, friend, that you could obtain God's salvation this night on the authority of His Word?
Thank you. And right through creation, it's the Lord who spoke it. And it was done. When I come to the book of Exodus, as we were reminded also today, that those 10 commandments that the Lord gave, remember Moses at the top of the mountain, and the Lord gave those 10 commandments.
And those commandments that was given and was to be given to man to be followed, to pursue, yet were broken. And of course, under a broken law, of course, the Lord Jesus was brought into as the Messiah.
But those 10 commandments, the Lord gave them. And of course, if we were to go right down through number 1, right down through number 10, we would discover that it's the Lord. Thou shalt not, thou shalt, thou shalt not, thou shalt not.
Why did it stand? It's because the Lord said it. And the Lord spoke it. And it was done. Coming even down a little further now into our New Testament, we discover that the many miracles that were done, it would take us the rest of the time, the rest of the meeting to go through the various miracles when the Lord said, the Lord said.
The Lord gathered together the 5 ,000 and fed, 5 ,000 men plus women and children and fed them. And of course, He fed them by what He broke and by what He gave. Giving unto the disciples and the disciples distributing it unto others.
But oftentimes, the Lord gave the word. That woman who lost her only son. And of course, there was a mighty multitudes that followed her and the beer. And He come and He touched the beer. And it was done.
So tonight, my dear friend, if not saved, tonight there is something that you're overlooking. You're overlooking the simplicity of His Word. And looking at His Word, verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him, that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life.
How do I know that? Simply because the Lord said it. And when He said it, I rest my all on it. Coming to Calvary just now. The Lord gave the word in creation. The Lord gave the word in the commandments.
The Lord gave the word at Calvary. My, did He ever. Or in Matthew 27, is it? The Lord looked down from and to those men as He looked at them with compassion and love. Fourth cry, is it? Father, forgive them.
No, first cry. Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Why was it that Eileen Uhlenhop trusted Christ that night in 1974, or Marianne, on that verse? How could she trust Him? Because the Lord said it.
And if the Lord said it, then that was good enough for her. Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Is there someone here in this gathering tonight and has never dawned upon your soul? You've never thought about that soul-liberating verse, that as He looked down upon His tormentors and as He looked down upon them with tremendous passion and pity, how is it that He could look at those men?
The one who put the nail through this hand, and the other one who put the nail through this hand, and say, Father, forgive them. How is it that they could go away forgiven? They could only go away forgiven in the simple reason that He said it.
When I come to Calvary, I understand a malefactor on this side, a malefactor on this side, as you know. When they came as they hastened to break the legs of the first and of the third, and when they came to the center one, he was dead already.
They marveled. What else happened at Calvary? Oh, friend, there are many, I believe, that have been saved through John 19 and verse 30. And of course, that lovely word that the Lord Jesus said, to tell us, die, it is finished.
How do we know that it is finished? How do we know that that's all I need? Because the Lord spoke the word. That dear man, can I call him dear? I'm going to see him someday. Maybe I better call him dear.
But that malefactor who cried out, dost not thou, he cried out to his buddy, dost not thou fear God? Seeing thou art in the same condemnation, but he's turning to Christ and he says, but this man hath done nothing amiss.
And he says, Lord, remember my body. Oh, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And the Lord said, today shalt thou be with me in paradise. How did he know he would be in paradise? Because the Lord gave the word.
And when the Lord gave the word to that dying man, he was just simple enough to claim it and to latch onto it and to trust it and to take it just for himself. The Lord gave the word at Calvary. But the Lord gave the word also at conversion.
I don't know how many people we have here tonight that are believers. Nice crowd. But the Lord gave the word at your conversion, did he not? You remember that? Larry Brandt shaking his head. He might even remember that night at the cross, at the cross where he first saw the light.
What light? What light are we talking about? Something that flashed out of the sky or something that I got one night or one afternoon driving down the road in my left eye with a detached retina. Was that kind of a flash in the eye?
No, friend. It was the light of our understanding that when He gave the word, that's all I needed. The Lord gave the word at your conversion. I think of that dear, that nobleman who said, come down ere my child die.
And the Lord is wanting the Lord to come down. He just wanted him to come down and do something, say something. But he just wanted him to come down. To make that long journey down. The long journey to see his son healed.
But the Lord gave the word, Thy son liveth. Now, young man, get a hold of this. Thy son liveth. All right, you're listening now to the Savior. You're listening to the Lord. That moment, at that particular time, John 4 or John 5, you're listening to the Lord.
And you hear these words, Thy son liveth. What are you going to do? Wring your hands and wonder if it's really true? Or are you just going to claim it? The Lord said it. It must be true. And the man in John 4, he turned around and he went his way, believing the word.
I am thankful that that night, I still remember it. I believe it was on a 57 Chevy, wasn't it? And I think it was. And that 57 Chevrolet, I discovered the Lord gave the word. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
And I didn't have to ask the three gospel workers that I lived within five miles of. I didn't have to ask any of those men what it meant to be lost. Because God showed me crystal clear that that night, I was not only on the road to hell.
I was not only a sinner outside the door to heaven, but I was that lost sinner. And that lost sinner, there was something that lost sinner needs. And that is, he needed a word from God. And I noticed Luke chapter 19 and verse 10.
And the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. And my eye fixed and fastened upon that beautiful text. And when it did, it brought life to this dead soul. Why? How could it? Because the Lord gave the word.
And if the Lord gave the word, I can put my whole weight on it. And I can trust it and thank God and thank God for it. It's the Lord that gives the word, friend. And I do not know what was holding some of these dear young people in this audience and one family in particular that I have a burden for.
You dear young people, if you only knew, if you only knew what you missed today. Because you do not have the Spirit of God within. The natural man understands not the things of God. Neither can he know them.
If I could only tell, if I could only make your mouth water to see what you missed this afternoon, today. Sorry, Marie. What you missed today under his word. Oh friend, would you not, would you not simply come and would you not simply trust him and just believe God?
Believe God. The Lord gave the word at creation. The Lord gave the word at Calvary. The Lord gave the word at the commandment and at conversion. But there's one other time when the Lord is going to give the word.
And that's his coming. The Lord is going to give the word at his coming. I wonder what I'm going to hear. I wonder what you're going to hear. All I know is we're going to hear the shout. And we're going to hear the shout.
And one mighty exodus from every different walks of life, from every tribe, from every kindred, from every nation. There shall come forth a people and we shall rise simultaneously to meet the Lord in the air.
Those dear grandparents that I miss, they're going to rise first. That dear dad of mine that I think more about than I ever thought I would. I'm going to see him again. We're going to go up. The dead in Christ rise first.
Dead in Christ will rise first. We which are alive and remain shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air. On what authority? On the gospel hall authority. That'd be a poor authority. On the authority of his word.
We were in a home just yesterday. I never was never there before. I have a hunch that my wife and I are going to be back there on more than one occasion. She sent in a reply card and on that reply card is, I'm an 80 year old lady who knows for sure she's going to heaven.
And then she wrote these words and that's what drew me to the house. Even so, come Lord Jesus. And I've never seen that on a reply card in my life. And of course, we could hardly get to the house fast enough.
And here she come to the door and a very spry, very mentally sharp 80 year old lady. We were there an hour. And we rejoiced in the Lord. She told us how she got saved. A remarkable conversion. She didn't even know what a gospel hall is.
She asked us where we met. I said, well, I'm a Christian and I meet with other Christians. And we meet in a building called the gospel hall simply because we preach the gospel there. And we have the King James.
She says to me, what version do you have? And I said, we preach from the King James Version. She says, good. I'll think about coming. A lovely soul. Even so, come Lord Jesus. The Savior is coming, friend.
He is soon to come. And I'm looking at this audience and I do not know where all of you stand as far as the Lord is concerned. I do not know who's on the broad way that goes down to death and hell. Nor do I know all that are on the narrow way that leads to heaven and home.
But all I know is this. That when the shout is given, there is going to be a vast, vast separation. And you dear children, you talk about being separate a few days in this world. You talk about being separate for a few nights as far as being away from mom and dad and so on.
But friend, has it dawned upon you that perhaps this night at 12 o 'clock midnight that the shout might be given and the Lord is going to give the word. And when the Lord gives the word, regardless of where we are, regardless of how deep of sleep you're in, and regardless of the darkness of the night or the brightness of the day on this side of the world and on the other side of the world, when the Lord gives the word, heaven is going to be filled with the very best of people.
Young people on my left, are you ready? The first row here, right to the back where John Ferris is sitting, the back section, and on this section, my dear young people, don't miss it. Don't miss it. Because we have no word of comfort from hell.
We have no word of sympathy for those that are in the pit. There's only a man that cried from the depths of hell, and he cried for a drop of water to cool his parched tongue. If you miss it, friend, you've missed everything.
And you will truly be sad. And I say this with a bit of compassion for you. It will truly be sad. You wish you'd never been born. Friend, as Murray closes the meeting tonight, will you be attracted to his word?
You forget what you don't know. Don't let what you don't know, confuse what you do know. And if you know tonight, friend, that Christ died for the ungodly, well, put your weight on that, put your whole confidence in that.
If Christ died for the ungodly, and it was good enough for your grandfather, and it was good enough for your father, friend, would it not be good enough for you? And if John 3, 16 was good enough for your grandfather, and was good enough for your grandma, would it not be good enough for you?
To understand Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin had left the crimson stain. He washed it white as snow. How do I know that? It's because the Lord gave the word. Trust Him, receive Him, bow to Him.
I'm wrong, He's right, and He's right because He said, it is finished.
