Evolution has become a huge part of a public school education. In California, students get over 50 hours of evolution instruction before they graduate high school.
It begins in 6th grade, where students are taught that they evolved from ape -like creatures 4 to 5 million years ago.
In 7th grade, students cover over 80 pages of evolution in life science.
10th grade biology includes over 150 pages. In these 3 grades alone, that's over 250 pages of teachings about evolution as fact.
Some don't think evolution matters anymore. It carries controversy even in the church, and many deal with it by simply ignoring it.
So, does it matter? Does it change the way students, especially
Christian students, think? Maybe to answer that question, we have to look at today's generation.
A recent study by Barna shows that over half of church -going teens stop attending when they reach college.
Reasons given include boring services and legalistic or hypocritical
Christians. But another very interesting reason is intellectual doubt. Students stop believing in the credibility of the
Bible and the Christian faith, and consequently leave the church and the Christian faith.
One research study interviewed 1 ,000 young adults who left the church and found that almost half began developing doubts in high school.
When these ex -Christians were asked, what makes you question the Bible the most, 40 % said it had to do with biblical creation, including
Noah's flood, the age of the earth, and the Genesis account. You probably know someone like this, someone who left the faith because scripture doesn't mesh with science.
As actor Bruce Willis stated, Unfortunately, with what we know about science, anyone who thinks at all probably doesn't believe in fire and brimstone anymore.
So organized religion has lost that voice to hold up their moral hand. That's where we come in.
Genesis Apologetics is a 501c3 nonprofit that prepares students for evolution teaching in public schools.
We help them by identifying the key evolution pillars that are taught in public school and developing clear, biblically grounded rebuttals for each.
We draw all of our research from leading Christian science groups such as Answers in Genesis, the
Institute for Creation Research, and Creation Ministries International. Our rebuttals are clear, understandable, and biblically grounded.
This is where we need your help. We have narrowed down the list to 11 key evolutionary teachings and we have developed sound rebuttals to each.
But videos are a lot more popular than reading materials for teenagers. So we're joining with two great teams,
Creation Quest and Covenant Media, to develop 11 short and compelling videos that will help secure teenage
Christians in their faith in the Bible. Our goal is to raise $60 ,000 to help develop the videos and work with over 4 ,000 youth pastors across California to promote the program.
We will do this through Facebook marketing, pins with the web
URL, and 250 ,000 cards that will be spread virally across school campuses.
Will you please help by making a contribution through our fundraising account, FirstGiving?
Your donation is even tax deductible. Evolution is a fallacy that is discouraging kids and adults from faith in Jesus Christ.
But it can be stopped so easily. Please help us jumpstart this campaign and save the faith of thousands of youth.
