- 00:00
- Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, you are very great.
- 00:05
- You are clothed with honour and majesty, who cover yourself with light as with a garment, who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.
- 00:14
- So begins Psalm 104. Bless the Lord, O my soul.
- 00:20
- O Lord my God, you are very great. On one level it's quite pathetic, isn't it?
- 00:26
- O Lord my God, you are very great. It's the limitation again of human language.
- 00:34
- If you read back to Psalm 103 and you see the great mercies and kindnesses of God in salvation set forth, the blessings that he pours out upon undeserving, hell -deserving sinners.
- 00:48
- What could you say but, you are very great? If you read on through Psalm 104 and think about the revelation of God's power and wisdom in the world that he has made and the government which he extends over it, what can you say but,

- Lord from your soul, if you're going to consider all that he is and all that he has done, what can you say except with your feeble words and your halting tongues,
- 01:19
- O Lord my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honour and majesty.
- 01:26
- As we come to worship God day by day, as we come to worship him particularly on that first day of the week when he has undertaken to manifest his presence in a distinct way to his gathered people, this ought at least to be something of our disposition.
- 01:44
- We come before the Lord our God who is very great. Though we cannot in our minds rise to the heights or sink to the depths of all his wondrous being and doing, though we cannot with our tongues properly express all the glory that belongs to him, nevertheless we come to bless
- 02:04
- God to ascribe praise and honour and majesty to him who is very great.
- 02:10
- We need then to come persuaded of the greatness of his being, the greatness of his perfections, his unsearchable excellencies.
- 02:20
- We need to come persuaded of the greatness of his doing, the way in which he has shown himself the creator and the provider and the governor and above all we might say the saviour of his people.
- 02:34
- We need to think of the greatness that is revealed in his work, in his son Jesus Christ who is the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person.
- 02:45
- We need to come persuaded, convinced, entranced, captured and enraptured by the greatness of the
- 02:53
- God who is clothed with honour and majesty. We need to come then in utter humility bowing down before him.
- 03:02
- We need to consider what he has done for us as well as all that he is in himself.
- 03:08
- We need to understand that in his son he has shown us one who is our great prophet, our great priest, our great king, the great shepherd of the sheep who is bringing us by a so great salvation to a

- Yes, we may have great troubles, but our God is very great.

- We may be going through deep waters, but our God is very great. We may be undergoing great afflictions, but our

- God is very great and he is the Lord my God. All divine majesty belongs to him, honour and beauty are his.
- 04:14
- He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
- 04:20
- Think of all that he has made himself known to be in the creating power, in the sustaining strength and in the saving grace that he has shown to us.
- 04:32
- Think of him, that eternal power and Godhead that we know in the book of creation.
- 04:39
- Think of him as our Father in heaven, as he is made known to us through his beloved
