Galatians 3 .28 says there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
00:09
Our culture is attempting to twist that verse, but we must know how to respond to them rightly when we understand the text.
00:24
Many of the Bible stories and verses we think we know, we don't. When we understand the text, promote sound doctrine while exposing the faulty.
00:32
Here's your host, Pastor Gabe. Thank you Becky. And hello everybody, we are expecting a new route of storms again today.
00:40
This could be the third consecutive day that we've been under a tornado watch. Life in Kansas, right?
00:46
It rained all day yesterday, we're under a flash flood warning right now. In fact, it's still raining at the moment,
00:53
I don't know if the microphone is picking it up or not, but there's this piece of plastic outside my window and when the rain comes off the roof at a certain spot, it hits that plastic, makes a loud sound.
01:02
I keep meaning to move it, but I don't ever think about it until it rains and then I don't want to go outside and move it because I don't want to get wet.
01:09
So hopefully later today, I'll remember to move that piece of plastic. I won't have this problem anymore when
01:15
I sit down to record. Appreciate the prayers from everybody. I know that some have been following my updates on Twitter whenever storm warnings start popping up and stuff like that.
01:24
I post those because it then goes directly to my Facebook page and there are members of my congregation that look for those updates.
01:33
So that's the reason I do that. But I appreciate your prayers as well. And speaking of social media, I posted on Facebook earlier this week, well,
01:40
I put it on Twitter first. Anything that I post on social media goes on Twitter first. I don't spend a lot of time on Facebook, so it gets picked up from Twitter and then posted on Facebook.
01:49
So if you want to follow me on Twitter, that's how you get the when we understand the text first by following me at what guy at sign
01:59
WWUTT guy. That's who I am on Twitter. But anyway, so it was it was mentioned earlier this week that I've got a new book coming out, comes out on Tuesday.
02:07
It's called 40 Mormon Beliefs and What the Bible Says. You'll find it on our website, WWUTT .com.
02:14
It'll only be available in paperback at first, but then eventually we'll do an e -book format.
02:21
This book came about because of some of the witnessing opportunities that I've had this year. I've been a witness to a lot of Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.
02:29
I haven't really even gone out looking for them. That just has happened to be the case. So based on some of those conversations, there are certain things that I would say to even
02:36
Mormons, Mormon missionaries, that they weren't aware their own religion taught. I've talked to I talked to a couple of young men just about a month ago and said something about their
02:46
Mormon faith. And they said, no, we don't believe that. I said, yeah, you do. And I even mentioned the source and they were completely unaware of that.
02:52
So this little book will provide a kind of a resource that I can hand to those that I've been witnessing to lately.
02:58
But there's another way that this is useful as well. Even if you don't have a Mormon base in your community, there may not be a
03:05
Mormon church. You don't run into a lot of Mormons or see the Mormon missionaries. This book will still be useful to you because there are a lot of similarities between Mormonism and some of the things that are believed by those who are caught up in the new apostolic reformation or the word of faith movement.
03:22
And so how do you respond to some of those false teachings? This book presents some of those basic biblical doctrines that can be given in response to some of those false teachings in a lot of Americanized religion,
03:34
Americanized Christianity, we'll put it that way, because Mormonism is an
03:40
American born religion. And so is word of faith and new apostolic reformation.
03:45
So there are some beliefs that they share. I wouldn't be able to draw a direct line from Mormonism to word of faith or seed faith teaching or new apostolic reformation, but there just seems to be that Americanized influence over those religious beliefs.
04:02
I'm going to be talking about this more with Andy Olson on the Echo Zoe podcast.
04:07
So I don't want to I don't want to reveal too much more because we'll talk about it there. And that'll be coming up in about a week or so whenever Andy's going to end up posting that.
04:15
So anyway, the book, Forty Mormon Beliefs and What the Bible Says, available at the website www .utt
04:22
.com. It is Friday and we take a question from a listener or a what viewer on Fridays.
04:29
This one I'm actually pulling off of Facebook. I've received this question by email, but I couldn't find the email.
04:36
And Drago of Wilson, North Carolina, just posted the question yesterday. So I thought, well, now's as good a time as any to respond to it.
04:43
He says, hey, is there any way you guys can make a video explaining Galatians 328?
04:49
I myself know what it means, but a lot of people don't. Please and thank you. Appreciate it, Andrego. Yes, we have a script that's in the works for a what video on Galatians 328.
04:58
In case you don't know, Galatians 328 says there is neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither slave nor free.
05:05
There is no male and female, for you are one in Christ Jesus. And you can probably imagine how this verse is being used right now.
05:14
It's being used to justify transgender behavior, because in the eyes of God, there is no male or female.
05:21
So I can be I can be a man who wants to be a woman. And that's OK. I am not infringing upon the salvation that I have in Christ, because in the eyes of Christ, there's no male or female.
05:32
So this is not, you know, an act that I am doing. That's going to send me to hell.
05:38
I can still be saved and be a man who wants to be a woman. And this is the verse that they're using to justify this behavior in the greater context of Galatians chapter three.
05:49
Well, well, in the whole reason Paul is writing this letter in the first place is because the
05:55
Galatians had turned from the sound gospel to a works righteousness gospel.
06:00
They thought that they could keep the law in order to attain their salvation.
06:06
And Paul says at the start of the letter, I'm astonished by how quickly you have turned to a different gospel here in chapter three.
06:14
He says in verse 21, if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.
06:22
But the scripture imprisoned everything under sin so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
06:29
How do we attain the promises of God for eternal life? It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, our
06:36
Lord. That is the only way that a person is saved, not their ability to keep the law. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone.
06:44
Verse 23. Now, before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.
06:51
So then the law was our guardian until Christ came in order that we might be justified by faith.
06:57
All of these things were pointing toward Christ. Verse 25. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
07:05
For in Christ Jesus, you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
07:13
Now, here's verse 28. There is neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither slave nor free.
07:19
There is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are
07:25
Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. So what's the context of this?
07:32
Nobody attains favoritism in the presence of God by anything that they have done or by who they are.
07:40
There is neither Jew nor Greek. So you're you don't have favoritism in God's presence because you're a
07:47
Jew, nor do you have favoritism in God's presence because you're a Gentile to whom the promises have now been given or extended through the sacrifice of Christ.
07:56
There is neither slave nor free. Now, you think about their social standing. A slave had fewer rights than a person who was not a slave.
08:05
But the slave is just as justified in the eyes of God as the free person is, as the free person is, if they are in Christ Jesus.
08:14
There is no male and female. Remember that men had a higher standing in society than women did.
08:22
This was true among Jews as much as it was among Gentiles. But men don't have a greater standing before God because they are men.
08:32
Neither do women have a lesser standing before God because they are women, but they are the same.
08:38
You are all one in Christ Jesus. Men and women will receive the same reward from God if they are in Christ.
08:46
Jews and Greeks will receive the same reward. Slaves and free will receive the same reward. Men and women receive the same reward if they are in Christ.
08:54
That's what that means. It does not mean that a person can be whatever they want.
09:00
Man or a woman will still be saved as long as we are in Christ. Actually, what they are displaying is a heart that is hardened against what
09:08
God has created. They hate the very image that they have been created in, which is why they are taking it upon themselves to change it.
09:19
We are made in the image of God. Men and women, as it says in Galatians or I'm sorry,
09:25
Genesis, the other G book of the Bible, Genesis 127 is where it says that male and female, he created them in his image.
09:35
When a man decides that he wants to be a woman or he gets these feelings that he must be a woman, and so he tries to change his sex or gender.
09:45
He is desecrating that which was made in the image of God. Same when a woman decides that she wants to be a man.
09:53
This is an abomination in the eyes of God. It is not something that we should be celebrating and definitely not encouraging.
10:01
Deuteronomy 22, five, a woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak for whoever does these things is an abomination to the
10:12
Lord your God. It is not OK. It is not acceptable for a man to pretend to be a woman or a woman to pretend to be a man.
10:20
And it doesn't matter what what feelings he or she might have. Deciding that they want to be the other sex doesn't have anything to do with it.
10:30
Feelings are are incredibly deceptive. They are not reliable. They can change in an instant.
10:37
The littlest thing could change your mind. And there are issues of people that are caught up in transgenderism who are changing to the other sex and then wanting to change back.
10:47
You cannot trust your feelings. We read in Jeremiah 17, nine, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick.
10:56
Who can understand it? We read a couple of verses before that. Blessed is the man who trusts in the
11:02
Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream and does not fear when heat comes for its leaves remain green and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
11:20
The kind of fruit that we should be producing is a celebration of the sex that we were born with.
11:26
Men being men, women being women, not men trying to take on the roles that women have and not women trying to take on the roles that men have.
11:35
This was a problem in the church in Corinth, by the way. Not necessarily that men were trying to make themselves women, but there were women that were trying to make themselves appear as men so that they could have the roles in the church that were designated to men.
11:52
I don't think it was necessarily a thing where they were trying to go through a sex change. They just wanted to have the kind of importance in the church or what they saw as being a more important role that the men had.
12:03
So they would they would uncover their heads so that they could prophesy as the men were prophesying.
12:08
And Paul rebuked them for this and said that it was not acceptable. In First Corinthians 1114, we have this verse.
12:13
It's a famous verse. It's one of those that gets quoted as in terms of controversy. Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is a disgrace for him?
12:23
But if a woman has long hair, it is her glory. Now, the the thing that's being mentioned here in this verse really has nothing to do with length of hair.
12:32
Really. So according to First Corinthians 1114, a man who has long hair is sinning. The point is that a man should not try to make himself look like a woman.
12:40
It would be a disgrace for him. You know that. And Paul is appealing to nature. Nature itself teaches us it is a disgrace for a man to look like a woman.
12:49
Nor should a woman try to make herself look like a man just to have some of the more important roles or what she thinks to be the more important roles in the church.
12:58
That's not acceptable. It is her glory to be a woman. It is man's glory to be a man.
13:04
So celebrate the thing. Celebrate what you have been created as. Fulfill what
13:10
God has called you to be as a man. Do what God has called you to be as a woman.
13:15
If you were born a man, you're a man. If you were born male on your birth certificate, that's what's on your birth certificate.
13:23
That's what you are. If you were born female, that's what's listed on your birth certificate.
13:28
You're a woman. You got to be a woman. There there's no dancing around this. There's no twisting scriptures like Galatians 328 to try to justify a man becoming a woman.
13:39
It what the kind of fruit that this is displaying is a heart that is against God, not with him.
13:45
You won't go to hell because a man decides to be a woman or a woman decides to be a man.
13:51
What you go to hell for is because you are in rebellion against God. Transgender behavior is a work of the flesh.
13:58
And as we go on to read in Galatians five, those who gratify the desires of the flesh will not see the kingdom of God.
14:06
Verse 19. Now, the works of the flesh are evident sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and things like these.
14:26
I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
14:32
Where does transgenderism fall in that list? Well, the right at the beginning, sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry.
14:41
That's where transgenderism would fall. Then we go on from there. The fruit of the spirit, verse 22. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self -control.
14:56
Against such things, there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
15:06
If we live by the spirit, let us keep in step with the spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
15:16
So I tell you this in love, we must not bow to this culture's whims right now, even with the fear mongering that they're doing with all of these scare tactics and the fines and the jail sentences that are even being threatened against those who will not recognize transgender behavior.
15:34
You have that edict or whatever it was that Obama sent out to the public school system a couple of weeks ago, saying that if teachers will not recognize
15:42
Johnny, who wants to be Susie and use the bathroom in the locker room of his choice, the penalty will be that they will lose their federal funding.
15:51
And then Mayor de Blasio in New York City. He's laid down this law that if a person does not recognize this is let me back up here.
16:00
This is being imposed upon every single business in New York City.
16:06
If a person who walks into your place of business wants to be identified by a certain sex and certain pronouns, you have to recognize them by that sex and pronouns or you can be fined up to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
16:22
Or receive jail time and or receive jail time. There are newspapers and publications in New York City that are already that are already changing the pronouns that they use in their columns so that they can avoid breaking this law in some way and then incur the fines that would be levied against them as a penalty.
16:43
Like there are certain pronouns that you can use that are neutral pronouns Z and Zer or whatever they are.
16:49
I've read a couple of publications that are already using them. And they make fun of even having to use them because it's just so ridiculous.
16:56
But they do that so that they won't slip up and get fined. Man is sexual harassment in the workplace.
17:02
Does it even get fined like that? Are there two hundred and fifty thousand dollar fines for sexual harassment? It seems to me that transgenders are achieving more in their standing in society than women have even been able to achieve.
17:16
Think of something that Bruce Jenner said not long ago. Bruce Jenner, by the way, is the guy who thinks he's Caitlyn Jenner, the former
17:22
Olympian. And and he got an award for from ESPN for his heroism, apparently.
17:29
Anyway, he said the most difficult thing about being a woman is trying to decide what to wear.
17:36
Really, that's the most difficult thing about being a woman, and people are applauding his behavior instead of coming out and going.
17:43
Clearly, you don't have any idea what it means to be a woman. I mean, this is crazy.
17:49
The pandering that our culture is doing to transgender behavior. And we must absolutely not bow to this because to do so would be to encourage someone in sin, especially this.
18:03
If you would call it a law, it's not law. But but this thing that Obama has threatened public schools with.
18:09
If teachers were to obey that, we would be in violation of something that Jesus mentions in Luke 17, too.
18:16
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.
18:26
So we can't we can't do this. If Johnny wants to be Susie, the loving thing to do would be to tell
18:32
Johnny, Johnny, you're not a girl, you're a boy, and you need to act like a boy and teach
18:38
Johnny what it means to be a boy. That's what we read in the scriptures. I mean, it even says in First Corinthians 16, 13, be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
18:52
Paul even lays that down and be a man. God said it to Job. Stand up like a man.
18:58
I will question you and you will answer. We absolutely have this laid down for it for us in scriptures.
19:04
Instructions on what it means to be a man. Instructions on what it means to be a woman. Men should not be trying to be women.
19:11
Women should not be trying to be men. To do so is to desecrate something that was made in the image of God.
19:17
Thank you so much for your question. And Drago, if you would like to send a question to our ministry when we understand the text at Gmail dot com is the email address.
19:27
We will resume our study of Romans Chapter 12 on Monday, Memorial Day. God bless.
19:33
