Zakir Naik’s Challenge to Jesus’ Divinity

Good evening, Dr. Zakir Naik. This is Mary. I'm a Christian and a banker by profession. My question for you is based on your statement that nowhere in the Bible it's mentioned that Jesus Christ is the son of God.

And based on my knowledge and understanding of Bible, I have picked up two verses to quote and I would like only your clarification in the light of Islam. The first one is Matthew chapter 3 verse number 17.

And blow a voice from heaven saying this is my beloved son in whom I'm well pleased. The second is John chapter 3 verse number 16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. So whosoever shall believe in him.

Shall not die but have everlasting life. That's right. Sister, just to correct your statement, you made a question saying that I said that nowhere in the Bible it says that Jesus is son of God. I never said that nowhere in the Bible is it mentioned that Jesus is son of God.

I said there is not a single unequivocal statement in the complete Bible. There is not a single unambiguous statement in the complete Bible where Jesus Christ peace be upon himself says that I am God always worship me.

Worship me. Yes sister. I have an answer to that sir. In the book of John the Bible says that in the beginning was the word, the word was God and the word was with God and the word became flesh.

What I want you to know is that. Wait, wait, wait sister. That does not fulfill my challenge at all. You, you name the book, I will give you reference. You are quoting from gospel of John chapter number one, verse number one and the word became flesh in verse number 11, 12, 13.

You are quoting only.

The book. I'm giving you chapter number, verse number. Answer me. The word became God. But what.

Does that say? Sister, were these the words spoken by Jesus peace be upon him? And the answer is no. What is my challenge? Not a single unequivocal statement, not a single unambiguous statement from anywhere in the Bible where Jesus Christ peace be upon him himself says, himself says means that should be in red letter.

There is something called as red letter Bible. If you're a Christian, you may be aware of it. Red letter means Jesus Christ peace be upon himself said gospel of John chapter number one, verse number one to 13 is not in red.

I'll answer it. First of all, you have not fulfilled my challenge. It should be Jesus Christ peace be upon himself says these are not the words of Jesus. It is the word of a Jew by the name of Philo. It's the word of a Jew by the name of Philo and never ever did he claim divinity for this.

I'm giving the answer. After I finish the answer, you can speak. You can't interrupt. Did I interrupt you when you were speaking? Did I interrupt? Yes or no? Now when I'm giving the answer, why are you interrupting?

Let me finish the answer, then you can answer. Point number one, you didn't fulfill my challenge. It is not the word of Jesus. Your whole argument goes out. Yet I'm answering. You did not tell, you should say, sorry, Dr. Zakir, it is not the word of Jesus.

Did you say that? No, you are not honest. Tell to the audience, these are not the words of Jesus, peace be upon him. Am I right or no? You don't know. See, you're quoting and you don't know. I'm a student of comparative religion.

These words are not spoken by Jesus, peace be upon him. Yet I'm answering. If you say the word is God and if you substitute words with God, it means in the beginning was the beginning was God. God was with God.

Were there two Gods? And the answer is no.

The Word Became Flesh and the Red-Letter Objection

And what concerns me is I don't see a lot of evidence that Dr. Naik has gone beyond Ahmed Didat, especially in the fact that, well, many people have demonstrated that Ahmed Didat made many fundamental basic errors that really, for a serious Christian, make his apologetics, well, significantly less than compelling, shall we say, might be the nicest way to put it.

Bogus would be the more modern way of putting it.

In the Quran, Allah calls himself the first and the last. In the New Testament, Jesus calls himself the first and the last. In the Quran, Allah says that he's the one who will judge the world. In the New Testament, Jesus says that he's the one who will judge the world.

In the Quran, Allah says that he's the one who will raise the dead at the resurrection. In the New Testament, Jesus says that he's the one who will raise the dead at the resurrection. Over and over again, Jesus makes claims that even according to the Quran, only God can truly make.

What do Muslims conclude from all of this? They conclude that Jesus was only claiming to be a prophet. The central and sole miracle of Islam is the miracle of reinterpretation.

The Muslim audience, but not the Christian audience that actually knows their scriptures. Now, if you're talking to a Christian who doesn't know their Bible, they could be totally blown away by someone who can just quote verses very, very quickly.

Of course, anybody could do that with the Quran, too, and I suppose in that way impress Muslims who don't know their scriptures very well. But from a Christian perspective, that wouldn't be an appropriate thing to do.

That would not honor al-Haqq, the truth, would it? Because that's sort of what politicians do, not what people who are dealing with God's truth do.

It's simply amazing to me that someone like Zakir Naik is the most popular Muslim apologist today. Someone who refuses to accept the Bible's clear teaching concerning Jesus's divinity, simply because Jesus never explicitly said, word for word, I am God or worship me.

It doesn't matter tonight that Jesus uses terms to describe himself that could only be used to describe God, that Jesus claims to do things that only God can do, or that Jesus accepts his disciples worshiping him and calling him God without rebuking or stopping them.

Naik's argument against Jesus's divinity is just so simplistic and childish, and it's amazing that he continues to use these kinds of arguments, even to this day. Also, did you notice what Naik said about Rose's argument for Jesus's divinity not being legitimate because the passage she quoted was not in red letters?

That should be in red letter. There is something called as red letter Bible. If you're a Christian, you may be aware of it. Red letter means Jesus Christ peace be upon himself said, Gospel of John chapter number one, verse number one to 13 is not in red.

Again, this utter lack of understanding of how Christianity and the Bible works is absolutely astounding. Anyone who has a basic grasp of the doctrine of scripture understands that there is nothing special about the quote unquote red letters in the Bible, because the entire Bible is equally inspired by God.

Thirdly, the Bible is one story, not many. You can no longer, you can no more separate Jesus from Paul or Peter than you can separate Jesus from the father or the spirit. The Bible is one story, not many.

What did the apostles teach? The apostles are whose apostles? They are Christ's apostles. So the teaching that they give us is the authoritative teaching of the church.

From the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Nike not just gives childish illogical demands while ignoring the strong evidence presented for Jesus's divinity and Nike not just has a childish incorrect view of the Bible, but Nike is also extremely arrogant and condescending towards Christians who disagree with him.

Did you notice how he spoke down to the two Christian women we showed earlier? Here are some more of what Nike says. And they quote Gospel of John,.

Chapter number three, verse number 16. For God's Son of the world, that he gave his only begotten son, whosoever believeth in him shall not die, but have everlasting life. Sister, simple question, what is the meaning of the word begotten?

He has given it? No, what is the meaning of begotten? He has given his son to the people. No, no sister, begotten doesn't mean he's given his son. You know English, I know English. Your English is Mashallah very good.

Begotten doesn't mean he's given his.

Son. If I say you have begotten a son. Sorry, sorry to interrupt. Don't give metaphorical meaning. I'm not a scholar. You're not a scholar but your English is very good. I'm a layman person.

If I say you have begotten a son, what does it mean? That means you have had sexual relationship with your husband and you begot a son. Begetting is a function of lower animals of sex. How can I attribute this function to almighty God?

Who did God have sex with? Who? Nike is so.

Arrogant and condescending towards this Christian woman. And even though she did not have an answer for Nike's question about the meaning of the word begotten, there is such an easy and obvious answer to his question that is again absolutely astounding that Nike is unaware of it.

The word.

Firstborn is used two different ways in that one statement. Israel is my firstborn son. That text cannot mean that Israel was the first nation ever created. It can't. It doesn't. There's something else there.

That word can absolutely mean the first one that was born but the word also means the preeminent one, the one who has first place.

The word begotten can be interpreted in the same way as how Vodie Bockham interprets firstborn. That Jesus is the Father's only begotten son could easily mean that Jesus is simply preeminent, the one who has first place and does not at all necessarily mean that Jesus was created through a sexual union between the Father and Mary.

Either Nike is ignorant of this interpretation of the word begotten or he is simply being dishonest in misrepresenting this verse. Christians, let's not be deceived or manipulated by apologists like Zakir Naik whose arguments against Christianity and Jesus's divinity are unbelievably weak because he has an unbelievable amount of ignorance towards the very easy answers to all of his challenges against Christianity.

Let's be ready and willing to call out the false religion and false teachings of who is leading millions of Muslims down the path of destruction. Let's be ready and willing to present the true gospel of Jesus Christ to these Muslims.

Islamic Eschatology and the False Jesus

The Jesus prophet in Islam is the exact.

Parallel to the false prophet who aids and abets the Antichrist. One of their writings says he espouses the cause of the Mahdi. He is the Mahdi's executioner. He is the Mahdi's enforcer. He is the Mahdi's prophet and it is he who kills the Antichrist.

That leads me to the third person. The Antichrist will show up. The Muslims call him Dajjal. He is the great deceiver. He comes to earth on a mule and he's blind in one eye. He is an infidel. He is a false miracle worker, this Antichrist, this Islamic Antichrist.

But you know who he claims to be? He claims to be Jesus, the Son of God. He claims to be deity. He will attempt to stop the Mahdi and the true Jesus, but the true Jesus will slaughter him. This is their view of the true Christ.

Our Jesus is their Antichrist. Our Antichrist is their Redeemer. It is a satanic counterfeit that is in complete reverse. The army, this is a quote, the army of Satan will be led by a person who will claim to be Jesus Christ.

There will be a great battle. The Muslim Jesus will fight the false Jesus and kill him and establish Islam forever. The truth is the true Jesus will destroy the Antichrist and the false prophet and establish his kingdom forever.
