Genesis 3, Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which Yahweh God had made.

And he said to the woman, Indeed, has God said, you shall not eat from any tree of the garden?

00:22

And the woman said to the serpent, from the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. But from the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,

00:29

God said, you shall not eat from it and you shall not touch it lest you die. And the serpent said to the woman, you surely will not die.

For God knows that in the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Then the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was desirable to make one wise.

So she took from its fruit and ate. And she gave also to her husband with her and he ate.

And the eyes of both of them were opened and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

Then they heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God in the midst of the trees of the garden.

Yahweh God called to the man and said to him, where are you? And he said, I heard the sound of you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.

And he said, who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?

And the man said, the woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave to me from the tree and I ate.

Then Yahweh God said to the woman, what is this you have done? And the woman said, the serpent deceived me and I ate.

And Yahweh God said to the serpent, because you have done this, cursed are you more than any of the cattle and more than every beast of the field.

On your belly you will go and dust you will eat all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman in between your seed and her seed.

He shall bruise you on the head and you shall bruise him on the heel. To the woman he said,

I will greatly multiply your pain and conception. In pain you will bear children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you.

Then to Adam he said, because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree about which

I commanded you saying you shall not eat from it. Cursed is the ground because of you.

In pain you will eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you and you will eat the plants of the field.

By the sweat of your face you will eat bread till you return to the ground because from it you are taken.

For you are dust and to dust you shall return. Now the man called his wife's name

Eve because she was the mother of all the living. Then Yahweh God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and he clothed them.

Then Yahweh God said, behold the man has become like one of us to know good and evil.

And now lest he send forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever.

Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden to cultivate the ground from which he was taken.

So he drove the man out and at the east of the garden of Eden he stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, we have

Abraham for our father, for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham and the ax is already laid at the root of the trees.

Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. As for me,

I baptize you with water for repentance but he who is coming after me is mightier than I and I am not fit to remove his sandals.

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand and he will thoroughly clear his threshing floor and he will gather his weed into the barn but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent him saying,

I have need to be baptized by you and do you come to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, permit it at this time for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.

Then he permitted him. And after being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him.

And behold, there was a voice out of the heaven saying, this is my beloved son in whom

So they set up the altar on its foundation for they were terrified because of the peoples of the lands and they offered burnt offerings on it to Yahweh, burnt offerings morning and evening.

They celebrated the Feast of Booths as it is written and offered the fixed number of burnt offerings daily according to the legal judgment as each day required.

And afterward, there was a continual burnt offering also for the new moons and for all the appointed times of Yahweh that were set apart as holy and from everyone who offered a freewill offering to Yahweh.

From the first day of the seventh month, they began to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh but the foundation of the temple of Yahweh had not been laid.

Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters and food, drink and oil to the

Sidonians and to the Tyrians to bring cedar wood from Lebanon to the sea at Joppa according to the permission they had from Cyrus, king of Persia.

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem in the second month, Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua, the son of Josedach and the rest of their brothers and priests and the

Levites and all who came from the captivity to Jerusalem began the work and appointed the

Levites from 20 years and older to direct the work of the house of Yahweh. Then Jeshua with his sons and brothers stood united with Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah and the sons of Hinnadad with their sons and brothers the

Levites to direct those who do the work in the house of God. So the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh.

Then the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets and the Levites, the sons of Asaph with cymbals to praise

Yahweh according to the directions of King David of Israel. And they sang, praising and giving thanks to Yahweh saying, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever upon Israel.

And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised Yahweh because of the foundation of the house of Yahweh was laid.

Yet many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers' households, the old men who had seen the first house of Yahweh were weeping with a loud voice when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes while many in loud shouts with gladness were raising their voice so that the people cannot distinguish the voices of the shouting of gladness from the voices of the weeping of the people for the people were shouting with a loud shout and those voices were heard far away.

Acts three. Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer.

And a man who had been lame from his mother's womb was being carried, whom they used to set down daily at the gate of the temple, which is called beautiful in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple.

When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. But when

Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him, he said, look at us. And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

But Peter said, I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have, I give to you.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, walk. And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up.

And immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. And leaping up, he stood upright and began to walk.

And he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising

God. And they were recognizing him that he was the one who used to sit at the beautiful gate of the temple to beg alms.

And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. And while he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the portico called

Solomon's, full of wonder. But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, men of Israel, why do you marvel at this?

Why do you gaze at us as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the

But you denied the holy and righteous one and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, but put to death the author of life, whom

God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses. And on the basis of faith in his name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know.

And the faith which is through him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all. And now brothers,

I know that you acted in ignorance just as your rulers did also. But the things which

God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that as Christ would suffer, he is thus fulfilled.

Therefore repent in return so that your sins may be wiped away in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the

Lord, and that he may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which

God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from ancient time. Moses said, the

Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. To him, you shall listen to everything he says to you.

And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.

And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken from Samuel and his successors onward also proclaim these days.

It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers saying to Abraham, and in your seed, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

For you first, God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.
