Welcome to No Compromise Radio, a ministry coming to you from Bethlehem Bible Church in West Boylston.
00:08
No Compromise Radio is a program dedicated to the ongoing proclamation of Jesus Christ, based on the theme in Galatians 2, verse 5, where the
00:16
Apostle Paul said, But we did not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
00:24
In short, if you like smooth, watered -down words to make you simply feel good, this show isn't for you.
00:30
By purpose, we are first biblical, but we can also be controversial. Stay tuned for the next 25 minutes as we're called by the divine trumpet to summon the troops for the honor and glory of her
00:41
King. Here's our host, Pastor Mike Abendroth. Welcome to No Compromise Radio ministry.
00:46
Mike Abendroth here. This is my third show today. It's Saturday, January 23rd.
00:52
How can I be winded by walking from over there to here? Maybe it's because I just guzzled a
00:58
Slim Fast Keto drink. They were on sale.
01:03
I don't know why. If I want to lose weight with this bad back and I can't go bicycle thousands of miles,
01:12
I'm trying to have less carbs. And like you, it's easy to eat well for breakfast, eat right, and it is pretty easy for me for lunch.
01:24
Basically, it's keto bars and dinner, not too bad, right?
01:30
I don't want to say to the family, I can't eat this or that. If it's, I don't know, some type of pasta or something, then
01:37
I'll just have minimal amounts of pasta and maybe more, some more meat. But then like you probably, dear listener, between 9 p .m.
01:48
and midnight or whenever I go to bed, I keep going to bed earlier as I get older. That's the hard time, isn't it?
01:56
That's the hard snacky time. And therefore, I mean, how much peanut butter, nuts, cheese, meat, and pickles can you eat late at night when you want potato chips, dill flavored, and such?
02:16
Anyway, you can reach me, Mike at NoCompromisedRadio .com. Sorry, Twitter is basically,
02:22
I'm done with Twitter and Facebook. Once a week or maybe twice a week, there'll be something about the show.
02:28
It'll be show related, not personally related. I am convicted about wasting time on social media.
02:36
Watch the Social Dilemma, I saw what people have done to conservatives on Twitter and Facebook.
02:44
I know what their companies stand for and what their leadership is like. And I'm just like, you know, we probably need to move our stuff off of YouTube eventually before it's moved off for us.
02:55
I'm wondering if in the next 10 years you are going to see churches who will not fall in line with the government and therefore lose their tax exemption.
03:06
If you'll do what they'll say and be like a state church, you know, you follow the advice of Russell Moore and others, then you keep it.
03:14
But if you don't, then you lose it. I think that's probably within 10 years. I think that's a reality. I also think that it's a reality that universities, colleges, seminaries,
03:26
Christians, Christian seminaries and colleges and universities, I think that the conservative ones, the confessional ones, those that hold true to the
03:39
Bible, even fundamentalistic ones, they will all be gone. Or completely, you know, it's online now or something because I think the
03:50
Princeton Seminaries of the world and other liberal schools, generally liberal, they'll make it.
03:57
But those that stand for biblical truth, men and women in terms of gender and in terms of marriage and will they do homosexual marriages and who will they hire and all that stuff,
04:10
I think those could be gone. And so I've been thinking a lot lately about how do you train men in a local church and maybe with other pastors in your area, each pastor with their specialty.
04:23
I mean, my specialty isn't Greek. I try to read my Greek Bible every morning, but I need some help with that.
04:30
And I've already forgotten Hebrew twice. I took it and then didn't use it and then forgot it and then took it again and the same thing happened.
04:39
I mean, I know a few words, but what do we do? There's a Hebrew guy down the street and then
04:45
I teach preaching classes and then what do we do? But anyway, when nations begin to persecute
04:51
God, that's my lead in here in the book of Nahum, bad things happen. And it happens to every empire that would dare poke the apple of God's eye, that is to say his bride, the church, the elect,
05:07
God, the father, God, the son in eternity passed with the Holy Spirit as a witness. There was a covenant for the son to be sent and to go rescue the elect and then wash them and cleanse them and have the spirit of God sanctify them and glorify them and then give them back to the father as a love gift, so to speak.
05:30
And then that love gift, the very reason why God shows his love and demonstrates his love dying for sinners, the son, then if somebody persecutes those people, the love of God, the beloved of God, the bride, what's the
05:52
God of the universe going to do? And I think what you see with Nineveh, capital city of Assyria, so if I say
05:59
Nineveh, I mean all of Assyria as she represents the country. The Ninevites, they were persecuting the people of God there in Judea, those two southern tribes of Israel, out of the 12 tribes of Israel, and they were getting whacked.
06:17
And God has Nahum write a letter to comfort them saying, soon enough, very soon,
06:22
Nineveh will be destroyed, chapter two and three. So it was future for them. Of course, for us, we look back and go, oh yeah, that happened exactly as God said.
06:31
This all happened. This is fascinating to me. With words, Nahum, I don't know how strong he was.
06:41
Could he shoot an arrow? But he, the prophet of God, says words, they come true, fiat, divine fiat, verbal fiat, the powerful
06:54
Assyrian empire, false. Because some little backwoods prophet of God says, you know what, they're doomed.
07:04
They are doomed. Of course, when you read this temporal doom of Nineveh slash
07:10
Assyria, you work backwards in the Bible and you say, oh yeah,
07:15
I remember that there's going to be a battle, right?
07:22
The promised one of Eve's line that's going to crush Satan's head,
07:27
I will put enmity between you, Satan, and the woman between your offspring, Satan, and her offspring. He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.
07:36
The battle between these peoples, we see over and over and over, Satan's offspring and Eve's offspring, the battle, and of course, we know at the cross what
07:48
Jesus did as he was raised from the dead after his substitutionary atonement and how we have our trespasses forgiven.
07:59
God makes us alive. He forgives our trespasses. He cancels out the record of debt that stands against us with all its legal demands, right?
08:08
He nails that all to the cross and then Colossians 2 .15 says, he disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame by triumphing over them in him.
08:19
And of course, the ultimate death blow for Satan in the future where he is thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
08:37
Any nation that wants to oppress God and his people come from that line, that satanic line of the enemies of the
08:48
Messiah. And so I ask every nation, I could ask America as well, as we did in the last two shows, are you better than other nations who are judged by God for persecuting
08:57
God's people? You think you're better? You think you've got enough, you know, nuclear bombs?
09:06
You've got enough industrial wherewithal? No, of course not.
09:13
Are you strong enough to fight against God? Are you better than these other places like Nineveh, like Thebes, like Rome?
09:22
No. Judgment will happen, the judgment of God. So today on our show,
09:29
I want to talk a little bit about Judgment Day, because everything in Nahum is a precursor that leads up to it.
09:37
It's helping me understand the temporal judgment of God, right? Those people that were judged by God and killed by God in Nineveh, of course, were going to stand before him too, and they are not trusting in the
09:48
Messiah, so they will be doomed, right? It'll be more than temporal doom, it'll be eternal doom, that's for certain.
09:55
But when it comes to judgment overall, that's really what we're talking about here in the book of Nahum, comfort for God's people because the wicked will be judged.
10:06
I'd like us to think about our judgment. Will there be a Judgment Day for believers?
10:14
If so, what's that look like? When we talk about eschatology, the study of last things, often we want to know about the rapture and pre -trib, post -trib, mid -trib.
10:31
When does it happen? What current events have to be done to have everything lined up?
10:38
Is there anything between now and the rapture? That's how people would talk. What has to happen between now and Jesus' coming?
10:46
That's how I would talk. Is there a last judgment for us, for believers, really?
10:52
Is it true? Is it really going to happen? Are we going to be judged? It's a great question.
10:58
When you look at judgment for other people and nations, you ought to say to yourself, oh yeah, what about me? So let me give you a series of questions that I want to discuss the answers so that you can have a good judgment theology, judgmentology.
11:14
How about that? That doesn't really seem right. It falls under of final judgment, of last judgment, of ...
11:26
it doesn't say judgeology just now. Anyway, question one, will there ever be a final judgment?
11:34
Okay. Obviously, I must think it's true or else I wouldn't have just given that little intro for that.
11:42
But there are people in every generation and every day that don't think
11:47
Jesus is going to come back, or they might say he already did, and they would look down upon this kind of discussion that Jesus might return.
11:58
Will there be a final judgment? Well, the answer is yes. Do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the
12:08
Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
12:22
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
12:37
Question two. Do we know when Jesus will return? No, we don't, but we know it will happen.
12:46
Mark 13, 33, but concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven nor the
12:52
Son, but only the Father. And if they don't know, we don't know, and therefore, we're not going to set dates, we're just going to say it's imminent, nothing needs to happen for the
13:02
Lord to return. And we wait eagerly with anticipation for the
13:09
Lord's return. He promised that he would come back, right? He was resurrected, and it talks about his ascension in Acts chapter 1, right?
13:24
It's not for you to know the times and seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority, but you will receive power when the
13:29
Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.
13:36
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
13:44
And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes and said,
13:50
Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the heavens? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into the heavens, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
14:03
Jesus is going to return. We don't know when, but he's going to return because the
14:09
Word of God tells us. And we know theologically that once the last unregenerate elect person believes, once, as they say, the number of the elect is complete or full,
14:23
Jesus is going to come back bodily, visibly, with great glory.
14:31
Number three, who will stand before this judge? Jesus is going to come back, and who's going to stand before him?
14:37
Answer, every creature, every human, is going to stand before God as judge.
14:45
Actually, the angels will be as well. They will appear. Belgian Confession says they will appear in person before that great judge.
14:54
Men, women, and children who have lived from the beginning until the end of the world, they'll be summoned there by the voice of the archangel and by the sound of the divine trumpet.
15:04
Question four, how will they be able to stand? In other words, many people live thousands of years earlier.
15:13
How are they going to be able to be there? Right? They've been dead and gone for a long, long time. The answer is, we believe there's going to be a resurrection of the dead.
15:23
That's what the Bible teaches. The just and the unjust are going to be given resurrected bodies.
15:32
Acts 24, having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.
15:41
First Corinthians 15, this body, perishable body, must put on imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
15:48
That's what's going to happen when the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable and we shall be changed.
15:55
Jesus said in John 5, do not marvel at this for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out and those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
16:11
They're able to stand because now they're given resurrected bodies.
16:17
John 5 also says, he has given him authority to execute judgment because he is the son of man.
16:24
Do not marvel at this for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out.
16:34
That's what I just said. It's John chapter 5, verses 27 through 29. The spirits that are eternal will be united with their bodies, a resurrection of the body.
16:52
Question five about judgment, thinking through judgment. What will happen right after the resurrection?
17:01
What will happen immediately after the resurrection?
17:11
Well, I'm looking at this and it says, the Westminster Longer Catechism, immediately after the resurrection shall follow the general and final judgment of angels and men.
17:24
The day and hour whereof no man knows that all may watch and pray and be ever ready for the coming of the
17:31
Lord. What happens after the resurrection? There's going to be judgment.
17:39
There's going to be judgment. Question number six, on what basis will you be judged?
17:48
On what basis will you be judged? On what basis will you be judged?
17:56
Bell curve? Oh, I know, my good outweighed my bad. I tried to keep the commandments.
18:03
I mean, maybe God will take my sincerity and factor that in because I know
18:08
I didn't really love him and really love neighbor like I should, but I was sincere. I like to. I got some medicine, some sacramental graces through the marriage sacrament and other things like that.
18:24
No, none of that's going to work. You'll be based on, did you keep the law of God perfectly, entirely, exactly, perpetually?
18:33
Always. Did you always do that? Jesus said on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every careless word they speak, and not just words, but deeds and thoughts and actions.
18:47
Whatever you've done, what's going to happen is the books are going to be opened and the dead will be judged.
18:56
As they say, and then the secrets and hypocrisies of men will be publicly uncovered in the sight of all.
19:04
Revelation chapter 20, then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it from his presence, earth and sky fled away and no place was found for them.
19:13
And I saw the dead great and small standing before the throne and the books were opened. Then another book was open, which is the book of life.
19:21
And the dead were judged by what was written in the books according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it.
19:28
Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them and they were judged each one of them according to what they had done.
19:34
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
19:46
And so there's going to be a judgment and on what basis will you be judged? You'll be judged based on if your name's found in the book or not.
19:57
And if your name's not found in the book, you'll be judged, what the texts just say, for what you've done. Well, why does it give a difference there?
20:05
What's the difference between Christians, believers, the elect who trust the triune
20:12
God? Their names are written in the book, but it doesn't say anything about their deeds. Well, the answer is, we know the other 65 books of the
20:20
Bible point to the Lord Jesus perfectly obeying. He couldn't have just died as a baby under the knife of Herod, for instance.
20:29
He had to perfectly live and obey the law. And he was born under the law, born of a woman that he might redeem us from the curse of the law.
20:37
And therefore, it's just our names because the deeds have been taken care of. Every one of our misdeeds has been paid for by Jesus.
20:46
And now we stand with Jesus's righteousness and therefore our names are written. So what's the basis?
20:52
The basis for us as Christians, how will we be judged? We won't be judged eternally because Jesus was judged at Calvary.
21:00
But the unbeliever will be based, his judgment will be based on what he or she has done or to fill it in, not done.
21:13
Question number seven, what will be done to the wicked at the day of judgment?
21:19
What's going to happen to them? Will they be obliterated? Or will they be annihilated?
21:28
What will happen? What will happen on that day where they'll have to face the presence of God without a mediator?
21:39
When God places his sheep on his right and the goats on the left, what will happen when he says to those on his left, depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels?
21:59
What will happen on that day in 2 Thessalonians 1, in flaming fire and inflicting vengeance on those who do not know
22:08
God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus? They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction away from the presence of the
22:17
Lord and of the glory of his might. Question eight, what will be done to the righteous on the day of judgment?
22:26
What's going to happen to us on that day of judgment? Then we, 1
22:32
Thessalonians 4, who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
22:37
And so we will always be with the Lord. If we're around when the
22:43
Lord returns, we'll be with him. But even if we die, we're going to be caught up in the clouds with those who are living at the time and will always be with the
22:54
Lord. Perfect, full communion. What an enjoyment of Christ Jesus.
23:01
It says in Belgic Confession, but it is very pleasant and a great comfort to the righteous and elect since their total redemption will then be accomplished.
23:11
That is to say, it'll be vindicated. Also what's going to happen?
23:18
Everyone who acknowledges, Jesus said, acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge before my
23:24
Father who is in heaven. When will that happen? When will that happen? That's going to happen at the end.
23:34
Can you imagine that we will be confessed?
23:40
The Son of God confesses our names before God, the Father, and holy angels. Acknowledge God before men, so the
23:47
Son before men, he's going to acknowledge us before the Father who's in heaven. That's amazing.
23:56
On that judgment day, we aren't going to be judged. At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
24:02
In your presence, there's fullness of joy, Psalm 16, 1
24:07
John chapter 3. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared, but we know that when he appears, we shall be like him because we will see him as he is, and not in a mirror dimly, but face to face.
24:25
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Blessed indeed, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them.
24:35
That's going to be amazing. We are going to be comforted. All the sorrows, all the persecutions, all the things that we went through,
24:46
God will take care of us, and God will bring us home. And it says, for the
24:53
Lamb of God in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
25:01
Hey, everybody else on earth thought we were the worst, but God knows better.
25:07
