So, what is Spiritism? Spiritism is the belief in the existence of non -physical beings or spirits that inhabit a spirit world.
00:13
In the belief of Spiritism, people often try and contact the spirits, which can include people who have died.
00:20
The contact is for various reasons. They want to learn about the future, so they contact the dead or someone who has gone on the other side.
00:28
They maybe want to influence the outcome of future events and maybe gain some special knowledge. Mediums are often used in such attempted contacts.
00:36
Often times a seance is used to contact a spirit or someone in the spirit world where people gather in a circle in a dimly lit room and then try and contact the dead.
00:48
A medium guides the people in the attempt to contact those who have supposedly gone on into the spirit world.
00:55
Of course, the Bible teaches us that there is a spiritual world which is comprised of both angelic and demonic forces, and we are forbidden by Scripture to practice
01:05
Spiritism because it opens up the individual to demonic oppression. Deuteronomy 18, verses 10 -11 says this,
01:13
There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
01:33
The reason the Bible condemns this is because by contacting this other world, you easily contact demonic forces who are able to deceive you and teach you things that are wrong and ultimately lead you and others into eternal damnation.
