Guys, they've been walking podcast here in the favorite cigar Smoking pastor podcaster bracket 2024. We have just finished the final championship round and we have a winner. But welcome to the live stream.

We're not going to make this too long, but we have a couple guys jumping on. I think we have one here chance from 1689 cigar put the whole thing on. How you doing chance doing? Well, how are you man? Pretty good.

I can't believe you made time. You have a brand new newborn baby girl. You're not sleeping. You're doing feedings and and rockings in the middle of the night. You still said hey, I'll jump on for the live stream.

So I appreciate it. Yeah, she's a blessing and my wife is even more.

Right. So yeah, we have a winner and I think he might be jumping on the live stream here. He said he was gonna jump on at noon, but we'll see what if he can make it or not. I know he's been out of town, but it's Keith Foskey.

Can you believe it? 1689 cigar company bracket and the Baptist one and we had a lot of Presbyterians in there. Yeah, that's that's good for us, you know.

Representing the brand. Well, right. Absolutely. Absolutely. And and Baptist. Yeah, it's late. So that's why he's not on the live stream. Is that what it is?

Talk a little bit about the company what you got coming up and why you had this idea.

The Origin of 1689 Cigars and the Church Planting Mission

Well, I found the company about two years ago out of just trying to help Al Gomez with reformed cigars. And and I like cigars. I've really been into it. And so I started seeing the business model for the stateside helping out Al and then Obviously I made the branding out of 1689 just because in the cigar industry why you choose dates is because Everybody puts dates in cigars.

So that's why I chose 1689 and then we did the Savoy the Westminster the London the Savoy's of Bono Nicaraguan Piro and the Westminster in London are our dark Maduro's full-bodied full-string we always say that the Westminster is sprinkled with flavor and The London is baptized in flavor.

Like that so. And in a nutshell We're doing a church plant here in Kentucky, Tennessee state line. I'm about 45 minutes from Nashville and This is me building my tent. I'm one of the elders at the church and as we we plant Lord willing this provides what I need to to live provide for my family and to minister to our church.

So the background of our company is as we do support church plants on Every cell of the reformed cigars and then every cell of the 1689 blends you're supporting Pastors, we have two pastors that work for us and then a deacon as well and so the whole premise is we're we're trying to build a company so we don't be a burden or we're not a burden to the church and so and Then on the flip side our cigars aren't gimmicks.

They're premium cigars. They're some of the best that I've ever smoked and it's probably because I tailored them to my palate. But it seems like everybody else loves them. So my palate might not good.

Bracket Voting Results and the Championship Winner

Yeah, absolutely. So yeah, so you approached me and said what about a bracket? I said what a great idea to do a cigar toting kind of pastor podcaster bracket. We had 64 to start out with we had a lot of people.

I'm just gonna give you guys some stats on the live stream to this is what you guys took part in you took part in. Over 13 day today. Well today's actually the C1 7 it says 13th day. It's almost a two-week bracket every single day of voting 64 Different podcasters or pastors in the first round over 25 ,000 votes cast over those last two weeks.

We went down to 32 then 16 then 8 then 4 and then obviously the final 2. Some you know and what I love about it is. Oh, there we go. We have the champion. Hold on here guys. We're just going over stats on the Bracket, but we have the amillennial King the your Calvinist the new Raining cigar smoking pastor podcaster champion of 2024.

Mr. Keith Foskey. How are you, sir? I'm doing very well. How are you my friend? I'm doing well, and I love the fact that you came on a live stream with you in the background on your monitor. That's awesome.

This is well I'm in a I'm in an Airbnb. I'm still celebrating my anniversary. Which is this has been a wonderful anniversary gift by the way for all the people who voted I want to say Thank you. I'm sure that's what your wife wanted to for you to be part of a bracket doing live streams on your anniversary.

Sure. Yeah. Thank you. Hey, she she has been super supportive. She is the queen of the amillennialists. She is awesome. And this is one of the rooms in our in our Airbnb. It's the it's the Hogwarts room of all rooms, but it's like a TV room.

So you can see behind me is the big giant screen and I just thought it would be you know. To give the people what they want, you know the pictures of this is me smoking the cigar. In fact, this video right here is proof that I actually lit the cigar.

You give it about about five or ten seconds and you'll see me come up with a lit cigar. It's right after Big Eva the Presbyterian will be lighting his cigar and three there it is. Oh, there we go. So anybody who said I've never I've never lit the cigar that was the second video I've ever done it's the number one Denominational video on YouTube outside of the shooting when I don't consider that a really that that's a special the denominational meetings.

That's the number one. It's called the denominations do a Bible study and I did like the cigar while saying we should all be talking about Romans 9. Well, look at as a Presbyterian myself I told you geez over probably two years ago.

I really appreciate I said I think I messaged you and I said, how do you know so much about the Stereotypical denominations because they are spot-on and I think the accuracy of those videos not that this video is about those videos but I just want to tell people if you go back and watch those videos if you're in any one of those kind of denominations or categories and you're in that you go.

Wow, he got that spot-on and You just said I've been a pastor a long time my man. I Know my denominations. I've talked to people from every group and so that's it. No, that's cool. So yeah, we were just saying this was 13-day bracket voting once a day started with 64 all the way down to final two over 25 ,000 votes cast between all brackets.

Friendly Rivalries, Denominational Humor, and the Meaning of the Matchups

And man, you thoroughly took care of everyone in your bracket. I think your lowest bracket. Let me go back and look your your toughest bracket was dusty Deaver's and you still won that 55 to 45. Which I mean against dusty is technically a blowout if you can win by 10 points other than that, I mean taking out Wilson with 56 that was amazing.

I thought that might have been the end of your road there in the second round, but you you took care of him easily well that the thing about it, that's the one that gave me the the if you will the Encouragement to like really fight for it because when I when I found out that I won against Doug I was like, well if I can win against Doug I can win against anybody.

That's sort of like one of the you know. It's just you know when you when you spar and you beat the best guy. It's like well, then you're you know that you can just keep fighting then. So well, here's the funny thing.

And we said this when we did a podcast together. I brought this up that I saw a guy take a picture I think with Doug Wilson and he posted that he was with Keith Foskey and I went Oh This is went to a new level now.

To where they've inverted it and I saw so many posts in that round of them going we're voting for the real Doug Wilson Keith Foskey and I went not only has Doug Wilson has to put up with your skits. But now you've just taken over his identity and other people calling him Keith Foskey.

I find that hilarious that people were voting for you because they said. And the funny thing is is you guys are you know, you guys are years apart on some on some theology and doctrine and stuff. But obviously still friendly with each other and respect each other, but it was like oh, oh my gosh She's gonna win this bracket because people are voting for the real Doug Wilson, which is now Keith Foskey.

Why I I am going to try to get his address to send him something I don't know if there's like a PO box. You can send him a gift I want to get him a shirt that says Harbor Freight Keith Foskey and Just see if he'll wear it if he would wear that that would make my entire year is.

That would be awesome. So yeah, all right, so we're not gonna keep you too much longer Keith. But chance tell him tell him tell him in the viewers what he won.

I'm super excited. I know we've had a good relationship for a while chance I appreciate you letting me play the game and being a part of all this and I Will say this and I told Matthew this yesterday on our live stream.

So I'll say it again I I do smoke a cigar every once in a while, but not often. So I will probably be making a lot of these into gifts. In fact, I plan on sending one or two to Matthew himself who was my hardest fought battle.

I would say the even though Dusty was tough Matthew and I have a relationship outside of all this and we've and. And and this has just bolstered our friendship and and and it was a tough fight. So I'm gonna I consider him definitely even though CR is technically the the silver medalist.

I There's a strong second place in my heart for Matthew Everhard, so I'm gonna be sending some some some things his way. Now be careful chance has got a step lightly here because he's business partners with CR Wiley here pretty soon.

You know CR is opening a new cigar lounge, and I think he's gonna start carrying 1689. So hey, let's let's not you know, let's not burn any bridges CR. We love you. All right. In Michigan or Ohio CR call me I want to be your agent.

Now he legitimately got second place which you know is awesome. I just but but Matthew Matthew was my hardest fight. So as far as the way I felt about it, I guess even though you said Dusty was the closest numerically.

Yeah, Matthew. I went to bed thinking I had maybe lost to Matthew and then I woke up and and all the Baptists who? were out drinking they Came home. They came home and they came home for me. Yeah. Oh, that's funny.

Oh you had a little you had a little surgeon votes at 3 a .m. In the morning interesting. Well, you know what very last thing before we shut this thing down to is one of the things that why I like doing these Brackets to is I've had so many people DM me and even tweet and go.

Oh, I hadn't heard of that person or who is that or there's relationships that form over it. Especially over the reform favorite reform podcast and then to see you and Matthew doing a video together to where I don't think you had Done one before.

And talking about theology. I went well, this is worth it right here. This is why I do this because I've got two guys that I really appreciate really love I know are knowledgeable discerning love the Lord never seen him do something together and then went okay these guys need to do something because As serious of a Presbyterian as Matthew as I would say yours that is serious of a Baptist and both very knowledgeable.

I would love and I'm not putting you on the spot here but I would love if you guys ever have a friendly debate to be that host because I think we could learn something just Between the friendliness of the disagreements you guys had in that short video I went oh there could be some subjects here that we could really dive into and with the way you guys both explain things and explain yourselves and Kind of exegete scripture.

I think it would be I don't know very beneficial for all the the watchers and listeners. So, I don't know think about that for me. That was one of the things where I went. Okay, that that's so cool to see kind of these friend not that I'm saying you guys weren't friends before but see friendships kind of blossom and get to know Other people and I'll do it for the glory of God.

A Moderated Conversation Between Keith Foskey and Matthew Everhard

So I really appreciate that. Well, I can't I can't speak for Matthew, but I would say I'd be totally down to do that. Maybe a moderated conversation Versus a yeah versus a you know, full-out debate I think he and I would do better with a moderated Conversation just something where you ask us questions and we both give the answers and then we can ask each other questions.

That would be fun. But but but to clarify he has been on my show one time because I reviewed a book that he wrote. So we okay new each other, but this was our first live stream and I would say this was by far the most Attention-getting thing so you helped connect us in a way that reached much more people.
