And so if you're willing to do that, let me know. Send me a message so we can get together and you can start doing verse of the day videos here on the ministry page, joining with me and reading
01:01
God's word publicly. Today, I wanted to do the verse of the day, but actually we're going to do yesterday's verse of the day.
01:09
And here it is. It comes from Proverbs chapter 20, verse 7. It says, the righteous who walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him.
01:22
And of course, yesterday was Father's Day. So what I wanted to do was wish a happy late
01:27
Father's Day to all the fathers out there. And of course, this is a youth version Bible verse of the day.
01:34
And obviously, they chose fittingly for Father's Day. The righteous who walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him.
01:44
What a fitting verse for Father's Day. And as I thought about Father's Day, I thought about how
01:51
Father's Day is different for everyone.
01:56
It's different for every person. And also, it is different as you get older and as your children get older, when they're young, when they are teenagers, when they're young adults, and as they become adults and grow up.
02:10
Father's Day looks different for all of us and at different times in our lives.
02:16
But what I wanted to think about was the fact that Father's Day and Mother's Day are important because fathers and mothers are gifts.
02:29
They are gifts from God. And when I think about a gift for children, what
02:35
I think about is how they treat those gifts. They may honor and admire and be grateful for those gifts when they receive them and hold them up in high regard.
02:47
But ultimately, those gifts get thrown in the corner or they get thrown in the pile with the other toys and they're not appreciated anymore.
02:56
And sometimes we feel that way as mothers and as fathers. We don't feel appreciated as we think we should as parents, as fathers and mothers.
03:07
But what I wanted to encourage you with as I thought about Father's Day is that God doesn't call us to feel appreciated.
03:17
If we think about the life of Christ, He would have stopped short of a cross if His motivation was feeling appreciated.
03:27
But God has called us as fathers to, instead of feeling appreciated and looking for that feeling,
03:34
He's called us to be faithful. And what is the purpose of the gift, especially a gift from God, is to point to the gift giver.
03:47
So that's what I want to encourage you with today as we, on this post -Father's Day video, we say
03:52
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. Fathers and mothers are gifts from God and we are often underappreciated and we don't feel like we're appreciated enough or a lot and that's probably very true.
04:11
But we can be encouraged with the fact that God has not called us to feel appreciated, but to be faithful in pointing our children to Him.
04:23
So I hope you guys have a good evening. Thank you for joining me. Again, if you would like to participate in doing
04:28
Verse of the Day videos, I would love to have you just send me a message. Remember that Jesus is
04:34
King. Go live in that victory and let's continue to go out there and spread the gospel.
