Welcome to the Here I Stand Theology Podcast. We are, as they say, back in the saddle again after quite the hiatus, which was not so much a hiatus. It was just a time of being busy and working. But here we are again.

So we are a podcast dedicated to a pointed and spirited debate of biblical doctrine. We won't be doing much debating tonight. We're going to be talking with some fantastic guys. We're going to be talking with the guys from Ransack and Reform, Daryl King and Mark Ryan.

Let's go ahead without any further ado and bring them on in here. All right, guys. It took me a minute to get the camera turned off the crowd. It's stuffy in here in the studio with the crowd like that.

Mark, Ryan, what's up, brother?

It's been a week. We're still going on strong. We've been doing 60, 70 weeks now, right? 70 weeks in a row.

And so let me go ahead and give this disclaimer. I know there's a weird face on your screen right now. For those of you who are usually following Daryl and Mark, they have been so gracious as to stream this on their platform as well.

So we want to give them a big thank you for that. Don't worry. They will be back to their normally scheduled program, I guess, on a regular basis. You won't see me much. Nevertheless, so guys, what's going on in your lives?

Talk to our audience. Talk to the Here I Stand Theology audience a little bit about who you are. Daryl, let's start with you, brother. Who are you? Where are you at? What's going on in your life?

Absolutely, brother. So thank you very much for having us on this evening. I'll try to keep it short. But yeah, my name is Daryl King. I have a YouTube channel. You can search my name, Daryl King, or TrinityTruth05.

But that's my YouTube channel. I've been officially on YouTube for 10 plus years, off and on. And I've been kind of active YouTube probably for the past two years, give or take. And, you know, just a Christian that loves the Lord, married, two children.

We live in Virginia, go to a great Presbyterian church. And I'm excited to be on with my brothers tonight. I think I bumped into Pastor Ramsey from Chicano Knox, and I bumped into him from Bottom Line Dad.

And I bumped into Bottom Line Dad through Mark Ryan and Smart Christian Channel. And it's the small Christian YouTube world. We all are connected somehow. And I bumped into the Happy Calvinist. And I was like, who is this guy with this country accent?

I'm like, OK. And I found out he's a pastor, and I listened to some of his sermons. And then I was watching his podcast one time, and he had the organ sound with the pre. I said, OK, let's go. So, yeah, that's me.

And I'm just excited for tonight.

Yeah, well, it's good to see the community growing because there's, what, 20 or 30, you know, where people just know each other and you network over time and everything. But yeah, hey, I'm Mark Ryan. My YouTube channel name is Montana Viking.

Why Montana Viking? Well, I used to have a beard and then I just shaved it all off. And so I might have to rename it or something. Don't sue me for false advertising or anything. Right. But but, you know, I started the channel about three years ago.

I've been making content pretty much weekly since since starting it. But yeah, I live out in Montana. That's, you know, Montana Viking, just small town Montana. We're very simple folks over here. And I'll talk about our front page of the newspaper from time to time and what people deal with in Montana.

Years ago, you know, stuff like, you know, our dumpsters blowing over. The wind will blow it over. And that makes front page news. Recently, we had people, we had junior hires, I believe it was, riding their horses through the McDonald's drive through.

So that's the kind of stuff that we deal with, you know, in Montana. And then you go turn on the news and see what's going on in the rest of the world. And, you know, I, hey, I just love it here in Montana.

Horseback riding, Hillions.

That's what we're talking about all the time.

So, so also there's somebody said your voice is off. Your voice is off from the video. Is that my voice? Mark's voice? Daryl's voice?

Yeah. Is it better now? Hopefully, hopefully it's better now.

So so guys, let me let me say this. I mean, I'm going to be honest here. So I've been particularly your last episode listening to you all talk about your kids and some of the things that they say, you know, that are somewhat humorous and somewhat funny.

So, Mark, how old are you or how young are you? Maybe it's a better question.

Well, next week I turn thirty five.

So Daryl.

I am thirty six. I'll be thirty seven this year.

All right. So I'm going to again, I told Daryl yesterday I'm an old dude. Right. So I'm 50. So to hear you all talk about to hear you all talk about Publishers Clearing House and to talk about getting the emails.

I mean, I'm thinking about, you know, back in the day where, you know, you got the envelopes and you you ordered the magazines through the mail. You know, that was also back in the day of Columbia House where you get like 12 tapes for a penny.

But then you're but then it becomes like a one of those where you have to, you know, rent a resort. It becomes something that you're locked in for life.

That's right. That's right.

The FBI comes to your door 30 years later and says, did you forget?

Yep.

So, Daryl, I heard you talking about some of some of the things that your son that your son said, and he's somewhat very young. But tell tell us about what you were talking about, actually, last week on your episode about your son talking about way back when or.

Yeah, he's into that.

And he did it again today, too. He's seven. He'll be eight in November. He was just like, you know, back in the day. And he's talking about like last year, like, you know, like the old times.

I'm like, just in the past, OK, in the past, not back in the good old days. Like, no, no. Come on. Come on now.

So, yeah, he's acting like he was alive back before there was color and pictures.

Exactly. Back in my day, I didn't have a TV. Just listen to the radio around the fire.

No, no.

So you all are pretty much the same age then. So that's that's good, though. That's that's very encouraging, I think, for the for the church world as well as for the the YouTube world that there are not only because we typically tend to think about faithfulness as, you know, being the old folks.

But there are young folks that are faithful in the faith like you all. And that is a tremendous blessing and a tremendous encouragement to us. So before we get into any more of the serious stuff here, one of the main questions that first time guests get asked, usually it's just one person on here, but it's it's two of you today and the two of you are connected.

So have you all got to to meet up like in person, hang out and do all that? Or is it everything just being via the interwebs?

Just the interwebs for now. Lord willing, that'll be a good day when we actually meet, you know, in person, that'll be that'll be awesome.

One of these days, you know, a G3 one of these days, I would think.

Yeah. Are y 'all going to be there this year?

Not not this year.

No, no. No, I do have family out in Atlanta, and so be, you know, very possible to do, you know, one of these days.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that's eight hours for me.

So, yeah.

So the question is this, if you two had to arm wrestle, who would win?

Probably I would, because my my left my left hand is absolutely strong.

So I don't know.

So Daryl was quick. He was quick on the draw.

They are three dogs, too. And I don't. He's in the country, country, country.

I woke up today. I did P90X. That's arm arm day to day. So, you know, I don't know if it was a pull up competition.

I mean, he would he would he would have that one. I'll have the bow out on that one.

Absolutely.

So I was just waiting on one of you to pull the Shia LaBeouf thing from Transformers, where you go, look over there.

You know, you don't show off the guns and just let the audience decide.

Right.

That's it, the gun show.

Yeah, you know, I used to be I used to be a gemaholic. But, you know, when the pandemic hit, I just never went back. So that's my excuse. But, yeah, I used to I used to be that used to be, whoo. Like we were talking earlier before before the show started.

Yeah.

As my wife is my wife is my proof. She will tell you, yes, I used to be in the gym two to two times a day.

Like, oh, really?

Yeah. I used to go hard in the paint. Creatine, protein drinks.

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. When was that? Now, did you do that?

That was literally like I used to do that right before the pandemic. Right. But I used to be I used to be in the gym hard.

Yeah. When I hit twenty five through maybe twenty eight or so. I did that. I did doubles a bit. And then P90X, P90X3, Body Beast, you know. Yeah. Where they just tell you what to do because I wasn't bright enough to know what to do.

So I watched them and copied them and all that good stuff. Yeah. But yeah, those were the days and you do your creatine. And, you know, at first I thought, OK, I'm going to eat all my junk food. But I'll just exercise out a bit.

Well, eventually, when you exercise, you start craving healthier food. I think. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. And praise praise the Lord. My metabolism is off the hook right now. And, you know, my father is the same way. And, you know, he's he's a grown, grown man. So. I can I can eat just junk and it just.

Everybody at my church, my wife just called me a trash can, like I eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat the whole and I don't gain weight. So praise God.

That's good, dude. As long as you can.

Yeah, absolutely. Yes, sir.

Yeah. Yeah.

I'm the opposite. Things happen in me where you go on, put on your pants. Everything's tight or they've shrunk. The pants have shrunk.

Obviously, there's something going on with the dryer.

Yeah. Yeah. It's the dryer. It's too hot or something. And yeah.

I was tiny, I mean, I weighed. I'm not a big dude, but I weighed one hundred and sixteen pounds when we got married. We've been married 30 years. I weighed 16 pounds in about probably eight years into marriage.

The wedding ring went defective and started being too tight. Oh, so I had to start getting bigger rings. And but yeah, yeah, that happens. That's a normal part of life. That's a good thing.

That's right. That's right.

So last last fun question here. We play a game in this game. Basically, probably isn't really a game so much. It's just me getting you to tell something dumb that you all have done. So I can I can I can hit this button.

This game. I can call my wife in the room and she'll tell me. She'll she'll let me know.

Maybe that'll be the first time you can get her on camera. All right. Holler at her and say, Pastor Claus, I'm wondering if you'll come on camera and tell us something dumb.

That I've done. Yeah, that's true. I should do that.

Now you got me thinking this game is called You Big Dummy. So let's mark. How long have you been married?

No, I'm single. Oh, you're single.

Yeah. OK. OK.

Well, then let me ask the married man here this question. Daryl. Yeah, that would be you. Yes, sir. What would you say in your married life? How long have you been married? Ten years. Ten years. What is the not the dumbest thing that you've done, but the dumbest thing that you've ever said to your wife?

Man, I should call her in here. Really?

Yeah, she could tell you. She's got to live.

She would. She would tell me.

Oh, man. Yeah, I'll put you on the spot there.

I know. Yeah, you did. But I'm not perfect, so I've said some dumb things.

This is good. This is really good.

I have to self-examine myself. Oh, man. My chat is saying, oh, snap. I'm trying to get her to come in here because I really I really want to tell y 'all the dumbest thing I ever said. She she she called me a stickler for time.

Like, I'm I'm I'm extra early, like extra, extra, extra early.

If you ain't early, you ain't on time.

Come on now. Tell the truth.

Tell the truth. Can I get a witness? Come on. Hallelujah.

That's right.

Oh, my goodness.

I don't know. I don't know.

She's that's OK. That's OK. So just as well, maybe any time in your life. So, Mark, what's the dumbest thing that maybe you've done out in public?

Oh, no. Oh, they're on those. This one, I mean, there's two, you know, things kind of compete for each other after a while. Right. I accidentally ran into a cow once, you know, when I was driving.

On a bicycle or in a car, in a van. Yeah.

The cow like galloped in front of the van. That's what I tell people, at least, you know, and I actually hit it.

So, yeah, well, I'll go.

And so then before I hit the button here, I'll ask you all both one question. Have you all ever watched Sanford and Son?

I've seen a few episodes. Yes. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

Yeah. Snippets of it. Yeah.

Oh, my goodness. Most most of the younger folks I've talked to your all's age. Maybe never even seen it or heard. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

I know. I know what it's all about.

This is this is what we this is what this is what I hear when somebody tells us something that they've done. You big dummy, you big, big dummy, big dummy. See what you did. Oh, no, you big.

That's good. So that's good.

Oh, so I've came up on Sanford and Sanford and Son just so that any of the young listeners may wonder, I've never heard of it. This show ran from about 72 to 77, and I caught the replays as I was growing up.

So it was it was a good show. It was well worth well worth your attention. So.

No, I'd always watch like I love Lucy. That was my and Andy Griffith show.

Oh, yes. Can you put. Pastor Ramsey said, can you come on? Can you come on the camera? Everybody, everybody wants to see you come on the camera real quick because he asked the question. Yes. What's the dumbest thing I said as a husband?

What's the dumbest thing? Please. You got you got 15 seconds. The dumbest thing I ever said as a husband.

Oh, she oh, she about to go. I should think of something.

Go ahead. Oh, look, this is the grand grand appearance of Miss King.

OK. He was sick. He had COVID. Oh, wow. And I gave him some tea. Oh, yeah, that's right. And he text me from outside the room because he was basically quarantining himself. And he goes, hey, babe, what's this log in my feet?

I said, bro, that log, that's a cinnamon stick, man.

So so if you get to speak, you're on where she can hear. Yes, you can hear. Yeah. All right. So here we go. This is what you get for saying that. You big dummy, you big, big dummy, big dummy. See what you did.

Oh, no, you big dummy.

And I'm pretty sure if I was to think for a while, there are numerous other things that are questionable. But I still love him.

Yeah. Praise the Lord for that.

But to his defense, I get lots of grace and I love him through it.

As a husband, though, I can identify with those moments of sickness. When we were early in our marriage, I got super sick. And I literally and I was serious when I asked my wife this, but she still holds it against me.

I said, would you get me a bail? She said, what for? I said, so I can ring it when I need something from you.

Oh, no. Oh, man.

Yeah. Yeah. Oh, gosh. Let's move on. Let's get to the get to some of the serious stuff. I hope that the that the listeners are enjoying our candid commentary so far. So one Facebook user said Andy Griffith was good, too.

Another one said, great show. I don't know if they were talking about Andy Griffith or Sanford. But so let's let's take just a moment here, guys. And let me make our transition. As I said, I was going to we're going to pretend like this is a live show.

So now let's talk. Get you all to share a little bit about your testimonies, guys. Darryl, would you care to begin to share your testimony of salvation with us?

Yeah, absolutely. So try to keep it try to keep it brief without preaching. But grew up. Grew up going to church, Pentecostal church. My my dad's pastor, uncle's pastor, grandfather's pastor, so grew up going to church, started playing the drums when I was 10 in the church.

Didn't know the Lord until I was 18. I said the sinner's prayer when I was 10. It was lightning and thundering outside. And my grandmother, my mom was like, this is what happens when Jesus comes back.

So I ran downstairs to my grandfather's office. I said, I need to be saved. I need to be saved. And he said, are you sure, son? I said, yes, yes, I need to be saved. And didn't really have the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

And I just said the sinner's prayer. And then I threw up through my teenage years, just struggled with lust real bad. That was a sin in my life. Heavy sin in my life and no change in my heart. I heard the gospel many times and I kept on looking back at my uncle because he was on the drums.

I was like, should I go up to say the prayer again? I went to youth conferences. I went to church conferences, heard the gospel, cried, had this big experience for a day. And then I was like, I'm never going to do this again.

I'm never going to do this again. And there's again, there was no true change in my heart. I started making music when I was a teenager. Really wanted to make it in the music industry. The biggest thing for me was getting women, getting money, getting fame.

Like that was my biggest thing. And I started making beats for my cousins. And eventually they met a Christian rap group. And it was like, yo, D, you need to come to these Bible studies we have and you need to hear these guys rap.

And this was the spring of 2004. And again, I was still trying to make it in the music industry. And I was like, I heard him rap and the rap sounded good. But in the back of my mind, I'm like, there's no money in that and there's no woman in that.

So I don't care.

But I told him, yeah, OK, cuz that's good. Whatever. Fast forward. I got my car, got my license and still going to church every Sunday, still struggling with lust and all that stuff. The sin was still in my life.

And I loved it. I didn't hate my sin. I loved my sin. I was convicted because I was a church kid. So I'm like, I shouldn't be doing this, but it is what it is. And it was November 2004. My cousin invited me again to this Bible study with these Christian rappers.

And I'm like, I have my car finally. So I'll come. So it was November 2004. It was a Saturday right before Thanksgiving of that year. And that night, the Lord just regenerated my heart. He saved me. He changed all my desires.

I still wanted to make music, but for him. And literally, Christ changed me that night. I was in the Word. I was praying. And I was like, I went back to school. I was just preaching. I was doing John the Baptist in the hallway.

I was just on fire for Jesus. And yeah, it was November 2004. And the Lord just been gracious and good to me ever since. I have a true relationship with him. And I just want others to know him and escape his wrath.

Amen.

Mark, how about you, sir?

You know, my personal testimony probably start with my grandma. She made the mistake of she married an unbeliever, but then got saved years and years after that. And so she changed the whole trajectory of that family tree in taking her kids to church and just faithfully serving God, even though her husband didn't want anything to do with God and didn't have any of that spiritual leadership in the household.

You know, and so then my mom meets my dad. And there was some, I guess, our generation never learns, but kind of some missionary dating, if that makes sense going on. But eventually my dad gets saved.

They get married. My dad was, you know, an elder in the church for years and years and years, who really depended on the church. But, you know, sure enough, I'm born and my parents dragged me to church every time the doors are open.

I'm one of those kids, right? Hey, the doors are open.

He had the drug problem that we talked about.

They drug me to church.

Yeah.

It's one way to get them there, I guess.

Right.

And so, you know, we go, and of course, I grew up in the Assembly of God Pentecostal and we Pentecostals had the longest church services back in the, what, the 80s, the 90s, the 2000s, not so much anymore.

But, you know, I just remember almost living in church Sunday morning, you go to Sunday school, then it's kids church, then it's Sunday night church. And then Mondays, you're in church. Wednesdays, you're in church.

And if there's anything else, hey, you're in church for that as well. And, you know, praise God for that in that God had so many opportunities to get a hold of me, you know, my 30 some years, because I'm not the brightest person, you know, and God, I'm just so thankful that my mom and my dad gave me those opportunities by coming to the house of the Lord, coming to church and God really started getting a hold of me in all as a teenager, our pastor would preach those long mega sermons, right?

But one Sunday he'd be preaching on and mentioning Benny Hinn and what a great person he is in, which just boggles my mind. The next Sunday, it's Ray Comfort and it tells best kept secret. And we're going through the 10 commandments and true and false conversion.

And, you know, in a Pentecostal church, a lot of your more assembly God churches can be like that, you know, to be honest. But, but through that, God got a hold of me at that time of my life through really through Ray Comfort.

He's a gateway drug, because then he introduces you to Wretched Radio and Todd Friel, who introduces you to John MacArthur, Steve Lawson, you know, a lot of folks who God and people in my own church who God just used to get a hold of me in my life and get me under the, you know, the conviction of sin and the need for, Hey, I need God.

And I'm, I'm hopeless without God and, you know, a desire for, for God.

So where are you at the same church that you've been in your whole life?

Or I am, I moved to North Dakota, went to college there for four years, was in Wisconsin for a while. And then, yeah, I moved back to my hometown.

Well, that's wonderful. Well, thank the Lord. I appreciate y 'all sharing that. It's good for us to give thanks to the Lord is what the psalmist says. And our testimonies, I know we, we, we both recognize this.

So, so Daryl is Presbyterian, Mark, you're Assemblies of God, right?

Yeah, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's a Reformed Baptist. He just goes to Assemblies of God.

I tell people I'm a mess. I'm just an absolute mess because I agree with you. If I had to describe what I believe in, you know, just wholeheartedly Reformed Baptist, you know?

Yeah.

So what Daryl just said there made me, reminded me that I need to play this clip. So here we go. Presbyterians are just Reformed Baptists who can read.

What It Means to Be a Christian YouTuber

So let's, let's move on to the next area. Let's have you all talk to us a little bit about what it's like being a Christian YouTuber. Let me hear. All right. So what's it like with you all? Because you all, if folks go to your channels, they know that you all, you all have a lot of followers.

And again, again, I was, that's another reason I'm amazed that you had let, let me stream with you all on your platforms with as many followers as you all got. So tell us about what it, what it's like being a Christian YouTuber.

Yeah, I'll let Mark take, take that.

Yeah, I started, I guess, right around the sickness, you know, in 2020 or so. Um, I saw other people making content and thought, Oh, you know, I've got to speak into this too. Just an overwhelming desire to speak in and everything.

But, you know, when you make your YouTube channel, the, uh, the first thing is the equipment. How do I even put together a video, you know, and you're just lost there. Uh, the first video I made the audio in the video did not sync up.

They'd be like five seconds apart.

It's like spaghetti Westerns.

Yep.

You're pulling your hair out, trying to get that. And then the lighting just right. And, and so one thing I, I wrestled with early on is, Hey, uh, just the equipment. Um, and you want all the best equipment there is, but you don't need all the best equipment really.

Um, and so there's that aspect and then, you know, YouTube is kind of a drug in that you constantly have to be making content, um, to get in kind of to get in their algorithm and to get people viewing your content.

They really, um, just the way YouTube's built, it's made so that you have to make content every week, every other week or so, um, or make really good quality, you know, videos and all that. So I've been doing this for, I think about three years now.

And, um, just speaking into things that happen in society, um, and then started making a lot of sermon jams.

You, you, you, you have one of the best intros. I love that. Steven, uh, Steve Lawson sermon on y 'all's intro there.

Yeah.

He he's marked as the man with the master plan with the, uh, sermon jams. Cause remember the sermon jams used to be like hot, like back in like early two thousands. And then it's just like, then it kind of fell to the wayside.

And then Mark just came back and stepped the game up. I was like, yes, sir. And like, yeah, he has to, he has to, it's, it's a lot of work from what he tells me, but the sermon jams and how he puts them together.

So kudos, kudos, kudos for the micro.

Yeah.

About a 16 minute sermon jam. They, I mean, they're supposed to be like five minutes. Well, I can't do that, you know? Uh, and so it'd be 16 minutes or so. Um, or, or 10 maybe, but you know, 16 minutes takes 16 hours normally to edit and put the video footage behind and everything.

But I've done it in a way where there's a chunk that are the attributes of God. And then a chunk on, you know, five sermon jams on the five solos and then the doctrines of grace. And so they kind of come in and fit together, um, that way.

Yeah.

So how did you all, how did you all meet?

Yeah, absolutely.

So yeah, I'll fill in the blank for that one too. Um, so yeah, I've been on, uh, YouTube because my Gmail account, um, 10 plus years. So I can't even remember. Um, I, I was on YouTube when they had the 10 minute limit.

You can only post videos that were 10 minutes.
