- Here I Stand Theology Podcast is a ministry of Rev. Ramana Baptist Church and a member of the

- Truth In Love Network. Please consider heading over to YouTube, Spotify, or your podcatcher of choice, and subscribing to the
- 00:19
- Here I Stand Theology Podcast today. To renounce these writings would be unthinkable, for that would be to renounce accepted
- 00:29
- Christian truths. I ask you to live according to God's law, to seek to your salvation and listen to the
- 01:08
- Word of God. Seek the Lord to grant you the wisdom and patience to persevere in His truth.
- 01:42
- Welcome to the
- 02:00
- Here I Stand Theology Podcast. We are, as they say, back in the saddle again after quite the hiatus, which was not so much a hiatus.
- 02:10
- It was just a time of being busy and working. But here we are again.
- 02:17
- We are a podcast dedicated to a pointed and spirited debate of biblical doctrine. We won't be doing much debating tonight.
- 02:24
- We're going to be talking with some fantastic guys. We're going to be talking with the guys from Ransack and Reform, Daryl King and Mark Ryan.
- 02:32
- Let's go ahead, without any further ado, and bring them on in here. All right, guys.
- 02:54
- It took me a minute to get the camera turned off the crowd. It's stuffy in here in the studio with the crowd like that.
- 03:01
- How are y 'all doing? That was good, man. I'm doing all right. How you doing, man? Doing good.
- 03:07
- Awesome. Mark, Ryan, what's up, brother? It's been a week. We're still going on strong.
- 03:12
- We've been doing 60, 70 weeks now, right? 70 weeks in a row. 70 weeks.
- 03:19
- And so let me go ahead and give this disclaimer. I know there's a weird face on your screen right now.
- 03:26
- For those of you who are usually following Daryl and Mark, they have been so gracious as to stream this on their platform as well.
- 03:36
- So we want to give them a big thank you for that. Don't worry. They will be back to their normally scheduled program,
- 03:43
- I guess, on a regular basis. You won't see me much, so nevertheless.
- 03:50
- So guys, what's going on in your lives? Talk to our audience.
- 03:57
- Talk to the Here I Stand Theology audience a little bit about who you are. Daryl, let's start with you, brother.
- 04:03
- Who are you? Where are you at? What's going on in your life? Absolutely, brother.
- 04:09
- So thank you very much for having us on this evening. I'll try to keep it short, but yeah, my name is
- 04:16
- Daryl King. I have a YouTube channel. You can search my name, Daryl King, or TrinityTruth05, but that's my
- 04:27
- YouTube channel. I've been officially on YouTube for 10 plus years, off and on, and I've been kind of active
- 04:36
- YouTube probably for the past two years, give or take.
- 04:43
- I'm just a Christian that loves the Lord, married, two children.
- 04:50
- We live in Virginia, go to a great Presbyterian church, and I'm excited to be on with my brothers tonight.
- 04:59
- I think I bumped into Pastor Ramsey from Chicano Knox, and I bumped into him from Bottom Line Dad, and I bumped into Bottom Line Dad through Mark Ryan and Smart Christian Channel.
- 05:14
- It's the small Christian YouTube world. We all are connected somehow, and I bumped into the
- 05:22
- Happy Calvinist. I was like, who is this guy with his country accent? I'm like, okay, and I found out he's a pastor, and I listened to some of his sermons.
- 05:31
- And then I was watching his podcast one time, and he had the organ sound with the pre -
- 05:37
- I said, okay, let's go. So yeah, that's me, and I'm just excited for tonight.
- 05:46
- That's it. There we go. That's right.
- 05:54
- All right, Mark, there's your lead in. Perfect. How about you, sir? Yeah, well, it's good to see the community growing, because there's, what, 20 or 30 where people just know each other, and you network over time and everything.
- 06:08
- But yeah, hey, I'm Mark Ryan. My YouTube channel name is Montana Viking. Why Montana Viking?
- 06:14
- Well, I used to have a beard, and then I just shaved it all off, and so I might have to rename it or something. Don't sue me for false advertising or anything, right?
- 06:22
- But I started the channel about three years ago. I've been making content pretty much weekly since starting it.
- 06:33
- But yeah, I live out in Montana, Montana Viking, just small town Montana.
- 06:40
- We're very simple folks over here, and I'll talk about our front page of the newspaper from time to time and what people deal with in Montana.
- 06:50
- Years ago, stuff like our dumpsters blowing over, the wind will blow it over, and that makes front page news.
- 06:59
- Recently we had people, we had junior hires, I believe it was, riding their horses through the
- 07:05
- McDonald's drive -thru. So that's the kind of stuff that we deal with in Montana.
- 07:11
- And then you go turn on the news and see what's going on in the rest of the world, and hey,
- 07:16
- I just love it here in Montana. Horseback riding, Hillions. That's what we talk about all the time.
- 07:28
- Also, somebody said your voice is off from the video.
- 07:35
- Is that my voice, Mark's voice, Daryl's voice? Is it better now? Hopefully it's better now.
- 07:40
- Also, I want to encourage folks, if you're on Facebook watching this on the
- 07:47
- Truth and Love Network, watching it on Here I Stand page, I want to encourage you to go to StreamYard .com
- 07:54
- forward slash Facebook and give StreamYard permission to use your profile information.
- 08:02
- They're not going to go to McDonald's and buy anything on your information.
- 08:07
- We just need to know who's talking to us so that we can properly respond there.
- 08:12
- Yes, just as a Facebook user. Hopefully we're better now. So, guys, let me say this.
- 08:20
- I'm going to be honest here. Particularly your last episode, listening to you all talk about your kids and some of the things that they say that are somewhat humorous and somewhat funny.
- 08:35
- So, Mark, how old are you? Or how young are you, maybe, is a better question. Well, next week
- 08:41
- I turn 35. And Daryl? I am 36.
- 08:47
- I'll be 37 this year. All right. So, again, I told Daryl yesterday, I'm an old dude, right?
- 08:52
- So, I'm 50. So, to hear you all talk about Publishers Clearing House.
- 09:00
- Yeah. And to talk about getting the emails. I mean,
- 09:06
- I'm thinking about back in the day where you got the envelopes and you ordered the magazines through the mail.
- 09:13
- That was also back in the day of Columbia House where you get like 12 tapes for a penny. But then it becomes like one of those where you have to rent a resort.
- 09:25
- It becomes something that you're locked in for life. That's right. That's right. The FBI comes to your door 30 years later and says, did you forget?
- 09:36
- Yep. So, Daryl, I heard you talking about some of the things that your son said.
- 09:43
- And he's somewhat very young. But tell us about what you were talking about actually last week on your episode about your son talking about way back when or something to that effect.
- 09:56
- Yeah. And he did it again today, too. He's seven. He'll be eight in November. He was just like, you know, back in the day.
- 10:05
- And he's talking about like last year. You know, like the old times.
- 10:12
- I'm like, son, just stop. Just in the past. Okay? In the past.
- 10:17
- Not back in the good old days. Like, no. You're seven. No. Come on.
- 10:23
- That's 2016. Come on now. Just stop. So, yeah. He's acting like he was alive back before there was coloring pictures.
- 10:30
- Exactly. He's like, yeah, back in my day, I didn't have a TV. Just listened to the radio around the fire.
- 10:36
- No. So, you all are pretty much the same age then. So, that's good, though.
- 10:45
- That's very encouraging, I think, for the church world as well as for the
- 10:52
- YouTube world that there are not only, because we typically tend to think about faithfulness as, you know, being the old folks.
- 11:02
- But there are young folks that are faithful in the faith like you all. And that is a tremendous blessing and a tremendous encouragement to us.
- 11:12
- So, before we get into any more of the serious stuff here, one of the main questions that first -time guests get asked, usually it's just one person on here.
- 11:22
- But it's two of you today. And the two of you are connected. So, have you all got to meet up, like in person, hang out and do all that?
- 11:33
- Or is it everything just being via the interwebs? Just the interwebs for now, Lord willing.
- 11:39
- That'll be a good day when we actually meet, you know, in person. That'll be awesome. You know, a
- 11:45
- G3 one of these days, I would think. Are you all going to be there this year? Not this year, no.
- 11:50
- Nope. I do have family out in Atlanta. And so, it'd be, you know, very possible to do, you know, one of these days.
- 11:59
- Yeah. Yeah, because that's eight hours from me. Yeah. So, the question is this.
- 12:04
- If you two had to arm wrestle, who would win? Probably, I would. Because my left hand is absolutely strong.
- 12:12
- So, probably. I don't know. So, Darrell was quick. He was quick on the draw there,
- 12:19
- Mark. Mark has three dogs, too. And he's in a country, country, country.
- 12:24
- I woke up today, I did P90X. See, that's what I'm saying. And it was arm day today.
- 12:30
- So, you know, I don't know. If it was a pull -up competition, I'd love that.
- 12:36
- He would have that one. I'll have the bow out on that one. Absolutely. So, I was just waiting on one of you to pull the
- 12:43
- Shia LaBeouf thing from Transformers, where you go, look over there. You know, show off the guns and just let the audience decide, right?
- 12:55
- That's it. The gun show. You know, I used to be a gemaholic.
- 13:03
- But, you know, when the pandemic hit, I just never went back. So, that's my excuse.
- 13:10
- But, yeah, I used to be, that used to be, whoo, like we were talking earlier before the show started.
- 13:17
- My wife is my proof. She will tell you, yes, I used to be in the gym two times a day.
- 13:24
- Oh, really? Yeah, I used to go hard in the paint. Creatine, protein, strength. When was that now?
- 13:32
- Did you do that? That was literally, like, I used to do that right before the pandemic. But I used to be in the gym hard.
- 13:40
- When I hit 25 through maybe 28 or so, I did that.
- 13:46
- I did doubles a bit. And then P90X, P90X3, Body Beast, you know, where they just tell you what to do.
- 13:53
- Because I wasn't bright enough to know what to do. So, I just watched them and copied them and all that good stuff.
- 13:59
- But, yeah, those were the days. You do your creatine. And, you know, at first I thought, okay,
- 14:04
- I'm going to eat all my junk food. But I'll just exercise out a bit. Well, eventually, when you exercise, you start craving healthier food.
- 14:14
- I think. Yeah. And praise the Lord. My metabolism is off the hook right now.
- 14:21
- And, you know, my father is the same way. And, you know, he's a grown, grown man. So, I can eat just junk.
- 14:32
- Everybody at my church, my wife just calls me a trash can. Like, I eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat.
- 14:38
- And I don't gain weight. So, praise God. That's good, dude. Praise the Lord as long as you can. Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:45
- Yeah. The opposite things happen in me. Where you go on, put on your pants, everything's tight.
- 14:52
- Or they've shrunk. The pants have shrunk. Obviously, there's something going on with the dryer. Yeah, it's the dryer.
- 14:59
- It's too hot or something. Yeah. I was tiny.
- 15:06
- I'm not a big dude. But I weighed 116 pounds when we got married. We've been married 30 years.
- 15:13
- I weighed 116 pounds. And about probably 8 years into marriage, the wedding ring went defective and started being too tight.
- 15:23
- Oh, wow. So, I had to start getting bigger rings. But, yeah. But that happens.
- 15:29
- That's a normal part of life. That's a good thing. That's right. So, last fun question here.
- 15:36
- We play a game. And this game basically probably isn't really a game so much.
- 15:42
- It's just me getting you to tell something dumb that you all have done. So, I can
- 15:47
- I can hit this button. I can call my wife in the room and she'll tell them.
- 15:55
- Maybe that'll be the first time you can get her on camera. Holler at her and say, Pastor Claus is wondering if you'll come on camera and tell us something dumb that I've done.
- 16:03
- Yeah, that's true. I should do that. So, this game is called
- 16:08
- You Big Dummy. Mark, how long have you been married? No, I'm single.
- 16:14
- Oh, you're single. Okay. Let me ask the married man here this question.
- 16:21
- That would be you. Yes, sir. What would you say in your married life?
- 16:30
- How long have you been married? 10 years. 10 years. What is not the dumbest thing that you've done but the dumbest thing that you've ever said to your wife?
- 16:45
- Man, I should call her in here. Really. She would tell me. She would tell me.
- 16:52
- Oh, man. Yeah, I put you on the spot there, I know. Yeah, you did, but I'm not perfect so I've said some dumb things.
- 17:00
- This is good. This is really good. I have to self -examine myself now. Oh, man.
- 17:07
- My chat is saying, oh, snap. I'm trying to get her to come in here because I really want to tell y 'all the dumbest thing
- 17:23
- I ever said. She called me a stickler for time. I'm extra early.
- 17:29
- Extra, extra, extra early. If you ain't early, you ain't on time. Come on now. Tell the truth. Can I get a witness?
- 17:36
- Come on, hallelujah. That's right. Oh, my goodness.
- 17:46
- I don't know. That's okay. Maybe anytime in your life.
- 17:53
- So, Mark, what's the dumbest thing that maybe you've done out in public? Oh, no.
- 18:00
- Daryl knows this one. There's two. Things kind of compete for each other after a while, right?
- 18:07
- I accidentally ran into a cow once when I was driving. On a bicycle or in a car?
- 18:13
- In a van, yeah. The cow galloped in front of the van.
- 18:18
- That's what I tell people, at least. I actually hit it. Yeah. Before I hit the button here,
- 18:27
- I'll ask y 'all both one question. Have y 'all ever watched Sanford and Son? I've seen a few episodes, yes.
- 18:36
- Snippets of it, yeah. Oh, my goodness. Most of the younger folks I've talked to, you're all's age, maybe never even seen it or heard from it.
- 18:44
- Oh, yeah. I know what it's all about. This is what we, this is what I hit when somebody tells us something that they've done.
- 18:56
- You big dummy, you big dummy, see what you did? Oh, no, you big dummy.
- 19:04
- That's good. That's good. So I've came up on Sanford and Son just so that any of the young listeners may wonder or have never heard of it.
- 19:15
- This show ran from about 72 to 77. And I caught the replays as I was growing up.
- 19:22
- It was a good show. It was well worth your attention. No, I'd always watch, like,
- 19:30
- I Love Lucy. And Andy Griffith's show. Pastor Ramsey said, can you come on the camera?
- 19:37
- Everybody wants to see you. Because he asked the question, he asked, what's the dumbest thing
- 19:44
- I said as a husband? What's the dumbest thing? Please, you got 15 seconds. The dumbest thing
- 19:50
- I ever said as a husband. Oh, she's about to come. I can think of something.
- 19:56
- Go ahead. Oh, look, this is the grand appearance of Miss King. Okay. He was sick.
- 20:06
- He had COVID. And I gave him some tea.
- 20:11
- Oh, yeah, that's right. And he texted me from outside the room because he was basically quarantining himself.
- 20:20
- And he goes, hey, babe, what's this log in my pee?
- 20:26
- I said, bruh. Log? That's a cinnamon stick, man.
- 20:34
- So, have you got the speaker on where she can hear? Alright, so here we go.
- 20:39
- This is what you get for saying that. You big dummy.
- 20:47
- Big dummy, see what you did? Oh, no, you big dummy. And I'm pretty sure if I was to think for a while, there are numerous other things that are questionable.
- 21:00
- But I still love him. Praise the Lord for that. But to his defense, I get lots of grace, and I love him through it.
- 21:09
- As a husband, though, I can identify with those moments of sickness. When we were early in our marriage,
- 21:14
- I got super sick. And I literally, and I was serious when I asked my wife this, but she still holds it against me.
- 21:21
- I said, would you get me a bell? She said, what for? I said, so I can ring it when
- 21:27
- I need something from you. Oh, man.
- 21:37
- Yeah. Yeah. Oh, gosh.
- 21:43
- Let's move on. Let's get to some of the serious stuff. I hope that the listeners are enjoying our candid commentary so far.
- 21:54
- So one Facebook user said Andy Griffith was good too. Another one said great show.
- 22:01
- I don't know if they were talking about Andy Griffith or Sanford's son. So let's take just a moment here, guys, and let me make our transition.
- 22:14
- As I said, I was going to, we're going to pretend like this is a live show. So now let's talk, get you all to share a little bit about your testimonies, guys.
- 22:28
- Darrell, would you care to begin to share your testimony of salvation with us? Absolutely. So try to keep it brief without preaching.
- 22:37
- But grew up going to church, Pentecostal church. My dad's a pastor, uncle's a pastor, grandfather's a pastor.
- 22:46
- So grew up going to church, started playing the drums when I was 10 in church. Didn't know the
- 22:52
- Lord until I was 18. I said the sinner's prayer when I was 10. It was lightning and thundering outside, and my grandmother and my mom was like, this is what happens when
- 23:02
- Jesus comes back. So I'm like, oh my goodness. So I ran downstairs to my grandfather's office.
- 23:08
- I said, I need to be saved, I need to be saved. And he said, are you sure, son? I said, yes, yes, I need to be saved.
- 23:14
- And didn't really have the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and I just said the sinner's prayer. And then through my teenage years, just struggled with lust real bad.
- 23:25
- That was a sin in my life, a heavy sin in my life, and no change in my heart. I heard the gospel many times, and kept on looking back at my uncle because he was on the drums.
- 23:35
- I was like, should I go up to say the prayer again? I went to youth conferences,
- 23:40
- I went to church conferences, heard the gospel, cried, had this big experience for a day, and then
- 23:48
- I was like, I'm never going to do this again, I'm never going to do this again. And again, there was no true change in my heart.
- 23:53
- I started making music when I was a teenager, really wanted to make it in the music industry. The biggest thing for me was getting women, getting money, getting fame.
- 24:02
- That was my biggest thing. And I started making beats for my cousins, and eventually they met a
- 24:09
- Christian rap group, and it was like, yo, D, you need to come to these Bible studies we have, and you need to hear these guys rap.
- 24:16
- And this was the spring of 2004, and I was still trying to make it in the music industry, and I was like,
- 24:25
- I heard them rap, and the rap sounded good, but in the back of my mind, I'm like, there's no money in that, and there's no woman in that, so I don't care.
- 24:32
- But I told them, yeah, okay, cuz, that's good, whatever. Fast forward, I got my car, got my license, and still going to church every
- 24:42
- Sunday, still struggling with lust, and all that stuff.
- 24:48
- Sin was still in my life, and I loved it. I didn't hate my sin. I loved my sin. I was convicted cuz
- 24:54
- I was a church kid, so I'm like, I shouldn't be doing this, but it is what it is. And it was
- 25:00
- November 2004, my cousin invited me again to this Bible study with these
- 25:07
- Christian rappers, and I'm like, I have my car, finally, so I'll come. It was
- 25:14
- November 2004. It was a Saturday right before Thanksgiving of that year, and that night, the
- 25:21
- Lord just regenerated my heart. He saved me. He changed all my desires.
- 25:28
- I still wanted to make music, but for him, and literally, that's—
- 25:35
- Christ changed me. That night, I was in the Word. I was praying, and I was like, I went back to school.
- 25:43
- I was just preaching. I was doing John the Baptist in the hallway. I was like, praise the
- 25:48
- Lord! I was just on fire for Jesus. yeah, it was
- 25:54
- November 2004, and the Lord's just been gracious and good to me ever since. I have a true relationship with him, and I just want others to know him and escape his wrath.
- 26:07
- Amen. Mark, how about you, sir? You know, my personal testimony probably starts with my grandma.
- 26:16
- She made the mistake of she married an unbeliever, but then got saved years and years after that.
- 26:25
- And so, she changed the whole trajectory of that family tree in taking her kids to church, and just faithfully serving
- 26:36
- God, even though her husband didn't want anything to do with God, and didn't have any of that spiritual leadership in the household.
- 26:45
- And so then my mom meets my dad, and there was some, I guess our generation never learns, but kind of some missionary dating, if that makes sense going on.
- 26:56
- But eventually, my dad gets saved. They get married. My dad was an elder in the church for years and years and years, who really depended on the church.
- 27:09
- But, you know, sure enough, I'm born, and my parents drag me to church every time the doors are open.
- 27:16
- I'm one of those kids, right? Hey, the doors are open. He had the drug problem that we talked about. They drug me to church.
- 27:25
- That's one way to get them there, I guess, right? And so, you know, we go, and of course,
- 27:33
- I grew up in the Assembly of God Pentecostal, and we Pentecostals had the longest church services back in the, what, the 80s, the 90s, the 2000s.
- 27:42
- Not so much anymore, but, you know, I just remember almost living in church.
- 27:47
- Sunday morning, you go to Sunday school. Then it's kids' church. Then it's Sunday night church. And then Mondays, you're in church.
- 27:52
- Wednesdays, you're in church. And if there's anything else, hey, you're in church for that as well. And, you know, praise
- 27:58
- God for that in that God had so many opportunities to get a hold of me in my 30 -some years because I'm not the brightest person, you know?
- 28:11
- And God, I'm just so thankful that my mom and my dad gave me those opportunities by coming to the house of the
- 28:20
- Lord, coming to church. And God really started getting a hold of me in, as a teenager, our pastor would preach those long mega sermons, right?
- 28:32
- But one Sunday, he'd be preaching on and mentioning Benny Hinn, and what a great person he is, which just boggles my mind.
- 28:41
- The next Sunday, it's Ray Comfort, and it's Hell's Best Kept Secret. And we're going through the Ten Commandments and true and false conversion.
- 28:50
- You know, in a Pentecostal church, a lot of your more Assembly God churches can be like that, you know, to be honest.
- 28:58
- But through that, God got a hold of me at that time in my life, really through Ray Comfort.
- 29:06
- He's a gateway drug because then he introduces you to Wretched Radio and Todd Freel who introduces you to John MacArthur, Steve Lawson, you know, a lot of folks who and people in my own church who
- 29:21
- God just used to get a hold of me in my life and get me under the conviction of sin and the need for, hey,
- 29:28
- I need God, and I'm hopeless without God. You know, a desire for God.
- 29:37
- So, are you at the same church that you've been in your whole life? I am.
- 29:44
- I moved to North Dakota, went to college there for four years, was in Wisconsin for a while, and then, yeah, moved back to my hometown.
- 29:53
- Well, that's wonderful. Well, thank the Lord. I appreciate y 'all sharing that. It's good for us to give thanks to the
- 30:01
- Lord is what the psalmist says. And our testimonies,
- 30:06
- I know we both recognize this. So, Darrell, as Presbyterian, Mark, you're assemblies of God, right?
- 30:18
- He's a Reformed Baptist. He just goes to assemblies of God. I tell people I'm a mess. I'm just an absolute mess because I agree with if I had to describe what
- 30:27
- I believe in, you know, just wholeheartedly, Reformed Baptist, you know. So, what
- 30:34
- Darrell just said there reminded me that I need to play this clip. So, here we go. See?
- 30:41
- Presbyterians are just Reformed Baptists who can read. You can't touch this.
- 30:51
- Why you standing there, man? You can't touch this. You can't touch this. I like that clip.
- 30:59
- I've seen that clip a few times. Yes, sir. Oh, my. That's good.
- 31:06
- So, let's move on to the next area. Let's have you all talk to us a little bit about what it's like being a
- 31:16
- Christian YouTuber. All right.
- 31:22
- So, what's it like with you all? Because you all, if folks go to your channels, they know that you all have a lot of followers.
- 31:29
- And again, that's another reason I'm amazed that you had let me stream with you all on your platforms with as many followers as you all got.
- 31:39
- So, tell us about what it's like being a Christian YouTuber. Yeah, I'll let
- 31:44
- Mark take that. Yeah, I started, I guess, right around the sickness, you know, in 2020 or so.
- 31:53
- I saw other people making content and thought, oh, I've got to speak into this too.
- 31:58
- Just an overwhelming desire to speak into everything. But, you know, when you make your YouTube channel, the first thing is the equipment.
- 32:07
- How do I even put together a video, you know? And you're just lost there. The first video
- 32:13
- I made, the audio and the video did not sync up. They'd be like five seconds apart.
- 32:18
- It's like spaghetti westerns. Yup. You're pulling your hair out trying to get that.
- 32:24
- And then the lighting just right. So, one thing I wrestled with early on is, hey, just the equipment.
- 32:31
- And you want all the best equipment there is, but you don't need all the best equipment, really.
- 32:39
- And so there's that aspect. And then, you know, YouTube is kind of a drug in that you constantly have to be making content to get in, kind of to get in their algorithm and to get people viewing your content.
- 32:53
- They really, just the way YouTube's built, it's made so that you have to make content every week, every other week or so, or make really good quality videos and all that.
- 33:05
- I've been doing this for, I think, about three years now. Just speaking into things that happen in society and then started making a lot of sermon jams.
- 33:17
- Yeah. Y 'all, you have one of the best intros. I love that Steve Lawson sermon on y 'all's intro there.
- 33:26
- Yeah, he's the man with the master plan with the sermon jams.
- 33:32
- Remember the sermon jams used to be hot back in early 2000s, and then it's just like, then it kind of fell to the wayside, and then
- 33:41
- Mark just came back and stepped the game up. I was like, yes, sir! And yeah, he has the...
- 33:48
- It's a lot of work from what he tells me with these sermon jams and how he puts them together. So kudos, kudos, kudos to Mark.
- 33:56
- Yeah, about a 16 -minute sermon jam. I mean, they're supposed to be like five minutes. Well, I can't do that.
- 34:02
- And so it'll be 16 minutes or so, a lot of them, or 10 maybe, but 16 minutes takes 16 hours normally to edit and put the video footage behind and everything.
- 34:13
- But I've done it in a way where there's a chunk that are the attributes of God and then a chunk on five sermon jams on the five solas, and then the doctrines of grace.
- 34:25
- And so they kind of come and fit together that way. Would you care after the program to send me the links to all those?
- 34:34
- I could, yeah, send you the link to the playlists of them, yeah. That'd be awesome.
- 34:40
- What about you, Daryl, on that? How did you all meet? Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:46
- I'll fill in the blank for that one too. So yeah, I've been on YouTube because my
- 34:53
- Gmail account 10 plus years, so I can't even remember. I was on YouTube when they had the 10 -minute limit.
- 35:00
- You can only post videos that were 10 minutes. Way back in the old days. Way back in the old days,
- 35:06
- Nehemiah saying, back in the heyday, you know what I mean? But I posted,
- 35:14
- I think my first video was a sermon snippet that I preached at a revival in 2008. Then I did a sermon jam.
- 35:22
- I did three sermon jams for my sermons. I posted, I did evangelism session at my old church.
- 35:31
- Again, it's 2008, 2009. Then I took hiatus. Then I came back in 2012, posted a lot about church planning.
- 35:40
- That was heavy on my heart around that time. Then I posted a sermon right before we moved to Virginia, like 2015, 2016.
- 35:51
- Then I didn't post for a long time. Then I bumped into smart Christian channel, Corey Minor.
- 36:00
- Corey, he had Bible studies on Saturday. I was in a Zoom with him one time. He's always pushing for more
- 36:08
- Christian sound YouTubers. He's like, you have a channel? I said, yeah. He's like, well, get back to it.
- 36:15
- I said, okay. I've been real serious for the past two to three years on YouTube, just posting content and some of my sermons from my local church, random lives.
- 36:37
- Then I have a CCC series. Pastor Ramsey, you're going to be on it. CCC testimony series is basically
- 36:46
- Christian content creator testimony series where Christians come on and tell their testimony. At the end, they share their favorite scriptures and they share the gospel.
- 36:55
- It's real simple, but everybody has a different testimony. I think
- 37:00
- I'm up to episode 40 something or 50 something with that, just different Christian YouTubers, put them on spotlight, tell people to go subscribe to them, and just hearing great testimonies and hearing the gospel.
- 37:13
- That's my main focus with my channel. Then the show's on Tuesdays with Mark.
- 37:20
- It's been awesome. Me and Mark bumped into each other from Corey. Mark was doing a live with Grandma Jo.
- 37:30
- Shout out to Grandma Jo. Hopefully she watches. She always watches on Replay Gang, but shout out to Grandma Jo.
- 37:35
- He was doing a live with her. The thing about Mark, I'll tell you, is that when he's active on YouTube and when he goes live, he'll go live for six, seven, eight hours.
- 37:50
- That's the Pentecostal, yes. Run until you can't go no more.
- 37:59
- And the Puritan in me, but yeah. Yep, that's right. He was doing a live with Grandma Jo, and then he opened it up.
- 38:07
- He was like, anybody who wants to come on? I came on the show and we literally just clicked that show.
- 38:18
- We just talk and get to meet one another. He's like, yeah, I've seen you in Corey's chat and around other chats, and we just started building that brotherhood.
- 38:26
- I think a week or two later, he's like, I'm thinking about doing a weekly show. If anybody's interested, please email me.
- 38:35
- I emailed him, and I don't know how many other people emailed him, but I emailed him.
- 38:41
- Then our first episode of Ransacked and Reformed, that was like my tryout episode.
- 38:49
- If you go back to our playlist on either one of our channels, episode one, it was a great episode.
- 38:57
- We talked about retro TV and all that good stuff. At the end, he was like, how do you rate
- 39:05
- Daryl? How did he do? Did I do that? I did.
- 39:10
- That sounds mean. Like it was
- 39:15
- The Gong Show or something. We did a 90s nostalgia episode with creepy crawlers and all the 90s stuff.
- 39:24
- Yeah. That was it. Go ahead,
- 39:30
- Mark. If it makes you feel better, you can ask everyone to rate me next week. How about that? That's all right.
- 39:39
- Just so long as he's clear about it. Just so long as he don't say, go ahead and berate, Mark. Obviously, YouTubing is time -consuming.
- 39:52
- It's challenging because as you both mentioned, there's learning curves for electronic software, programs, and then just your content.
- 40:03
- Being able to communicate via camera is a challenge as well.
- 40:08
- You learn like me. I am just, whether I'm on camera or not,
- 40:15
- I'm the same. I don't know how to be professional. Sure.
- 40:22
- Absolutely. How do you balance all that? You guys work. You got families.
- 40:28
- You got friends. How do you balance all this? I'll take that one and I'll give it to Mark.
- 40:39
- It's a matter of prioritizing. Last summer,
- 40:45
- I was going hard in the paint with my CCCs. I would have me and Mark's show on Tuesday nights, 6 .30
- 40:51
- p .m. Tuesday night, 6 .30 p .m. Come through. Every week, be there.
- 40:59
- I was going hard in the paint with me and Mark's show on Tuesday. Then I would have two or three
- 41:06
- CCCs every single week. Right after work,
- 41:12
- I would do a CCC. Then Nehemiah would come in here. I would have a show with Nehemiah.
- 41:18
- I was still begging my wife to come on camera. This is a monumental episode tonight.
- 41:26
- It's a matter of really prioritizing, but also not being an idol.
- 41:38
- Mark might talk about it, but when you first come on YouTube, you're looking at the numbers.
- 41:44
- You look like, did I get a subscriber? Did I get a like? Did I get a comment? Like you said, technology.
- 41:52
- I don't have a good mic. I don't have a good computer, good lighting, all that stuff. You're thinking about all of these things, but you also have life.
- 42:02
- You have family. Hopefully, all Christian YouTubers, I repeat, hopefully all
- 42:08
- Christian YouTubers have a good local church that they're a part of, that your pastor knows you, your elders know you and pray for you, and you submit to them.
- 42:17
- Hopefully, that's the first outside of your home. That's the first ministry that you are a part of.
- 42:24
- You have that, too. It's a matter of like, okay, am
- 42:29
- I going to go hard in the paint? Am I going to make this a living? Because you can. Or am
- 42:35
- I going to say this is a hobby but also a connection? You know what I'm saying? We were talking last week.
- 42:43
- There's certain people in the chat and shout salute to my dad. He's in the chat. Happy birthday.
- 42:49
- Happy belated birthday to my dad, but he's in my chat, but I love you, dad. But it's like certain people that come in the chat, you're looking forward to seeing them, seeing them comment.
- 43:01
- It's just like, oh, yeah. Tyra or Monkeyboop, you look forward to seeing certain people in the chat.
- 43:07
- It's like every single time we post and come on, it's like I'm waiting for them to see me.
- 43:13
- But then like I was telling you, shout out to Eric Smith, Servant of Christ.
- 43:19
- I was just watching his live earlier before us, and it's like there's so many good
- 43:24
- Christian YouTubers. I don't want to go live when somebody else is going live.
- 43:30
- Because it's just like I'm going to miss their show or they're going to miss my show. But for me, it's like I want to reach other people that they're not reaching.
- 43:45
- You know what I'm saying? Yes, I want to equip the body of Christ, but like we were talking about before the show, sometimes
- 43:50
- I play our shows in my Uber. You know what I'm saying? It's like I want to reach unsaved people with the gospel.
- 43:57
- Amen. Cory might be live and have like 18 ,000 people on his live, and I might be live right now and have like seven.
- 44:05
- It is what it is. Hopefully they'll catch it on the replay game. It's a real...
- 44:14
- Each YouTuber has to come to and say, okay, what am I doing this for?
- 44:19
- Yeah. Because this is just a computer and lights and a microphone, but outside of this,
- 44:27
- I'm a husband, I'm a dad, I'm a boss at my job. I serve in my local church.
- 44:34
- These people outside of this here, those people know me.
- 44:41
- You know what I'm saying? They truly know me. That's right.
- 44:50
- Mark, what about you? I don't know about you guys, but when you first make your channel,
- 44:55
- I feel like there's this honeymoon period where everything's about your channel. You're checking your subs, your views, everything there for a while, and a lot of your focus is on your channel.
- 45:05
- Well, after three years, I'm in more of the vacation mode on my channel. I log on, we do our show every
- 45:14
- Tuesday at the same time, which is... I love it that way in that the same way you go to church, hey, nine o 'clock, we're in church, we're not herding cattle, we're not doing other things, you're in church, that time's dedicated to church.
- 45:31
- Tuesdays, we do our show. It makes it really easy just from a YouTube standpoint of coming out with content every single week.
- 45:40
- We just show up for an hour, an hour and a half if we're long -winded. Daryl always has to have the last word on it.
- 45:49
- Everyone in our chat knows that's not the truth. Y 'all are going to have to armor us to settle this.
- 45:56
- We're going to have to have a public arm wrestling match. But you got your vacation period where you come back to reality,
- 46:08
- I guess, and it's not that honeymoon period. There's other periods where you feel like quitting, and you're like,
- 46:14
- I don't even feel like doing any more content. There's pressure to do content every single week, and it takes mental fortitude and all that, too.
- 46:24
- Absolutely. I definitely agree with that. Mark's a real person outside of YouTube.
- 46:37
- Pastor Ramsey's a real person outside of YouTube. Outside of this, these lights and stuff like that, they live and they exist.
- 46:45
- Going back to what Mark says, there's YouTube drama.
- 46:51
- Sometimes it makes me sick. But if you get sucked into that, then it's just like, oh, man.
- 47:00
- Do I really? Who's going to watch? How's my heart?
- 47:09
- Do I really want to get involved? Then it's just like, man, my thumbnail game,
- 47:17
- I got to set my thumbnail game up, you know what I'm saying? Or you think about other things.
- 47:26
- That's always a temptation. Just like, man, just throw my hands up and go home.
- 47:31
- And then you hear what will happen to other Christian YouTubers. I mean, you can have your channel just gone just like that if one thing happens.
- 47:40
- And all that hard work is, because YouTube, putting together a channel, it's a lot of hard work and effort goes into it.
- 47:49
- That's no doubt about that. Well, guys, are you good to go about 20 more minutes?
- 47:57
- We can rock and roll. You are the host. But again,
- 48:03
- I want to respect you all's time. And I've told you privately, I want to tell you publicly, I appreciate you all giving your time tonight to be on with us and to talk with us.
- 48:13
- In this last section, I didn't mean to hit that then, but that'll work.
- 48:21
- This last section, we're going to talk about evangelism. You all wanted to talk about evangelism.
- 48:28
- Evangelism is a very, very important topic. As well, we had desired to look at the
- 48:36
- Paris Readhead sermon called Ten Shekels and a Shirt. All of those who are watching and listening, we would encourage you, no matter what denomination you are, no matter what denominational background that you have to watch and listen to this sermon,
- 48:52
- Ten Shekels and a Shirt by Paris Readhead. As we were discussing earlier, the
- 48:57
- Word of God is timeless. It's one of those messages that you could listen to in the 60s and 70s when it was preached.
- 49:07
- And it's going to be just as true today as it was then or 100 years before that, just like Reading Spurgeon or anybody else.
- 49:14
- But particularly about evangelism, let's just touch on a few things key here.
- 49:23
- Number one, what is evangelism? Biblically speaking, would you all say?
- 49:32
- Either one of you. Mark, you want to take that? I'm taking all the notes.
- 49:40
- I'll be sharing the euangelion, the good news, the good news of Jesus Christ and His work upon this earth, that He lived the perfect life that none of us could live.
- 49:54
- And His work upon the cross as He took the penalty of sin upon the cross, that hey, we deserve that penalty.
- 50:03
- And so the euangelion is the good news at the cross where there's this great exchange that happens.
- 50:15
- All of our sins placed upon the Lord Jesus Christ where He bears the wrath of God that we deserve.
- 50:20
- And not only that, Christ lives in our place and His perfect garments,
- 50:26
- His righteous life, His riches are credited to our account. And we are made right in the sight of God.
- 50:35
- And He looks upon us with a smile, seeing the perfect life of Christ upon us.
- 50:44
- Amen. Amen. Yes. Amen is His death, burial, resurrection, and His ascension going and telling the world about Him.
- 50:58
- I wanted Mark to answer that question because he preached the good news in our last show, and it was just good to hear the good news that saved a wretch like us.
- 51:10
- Amen. When you understand how wicked you are in God's sight and how dirty you are because of your unrighteousness before a holy, perfect God, and He's your creator and judge, knowing that God can damn you just because of who
- 51:30
- He is. He's a good God. He can damn you because He's good. And none of us are.
- 51:36
- But He did send His Son, His only, holy Son, unique Son, God, man, truly
- 51:43
- God, truly man. He came and lived a perfect life and died in the place of sinners and literally, physically rose from death.
- 51:51
- And like Mark said, that great exchange takes place. We get His perfection and God, like Mark says,
- 51:58
- He can smile on us. Pastor Ramsey, I was listening to some of his sermons from a few weeks ago, and he prayed before he preached, and he said that Jesus is our friend.
- 52:15
- God is our friend and God is our Father. Again, not because of us, but because of Christ.
- 52:22
- And He lived, He died physically, literally died, and He literally physically rose from death.
- 52:28
- And that good news is good news, when we understand the bad news. And that good news is great news.
- 52:34
- And evangelism is telling everybody, everywhere about that great news. Amen. So yeah,
- 52:41
- I'm excited. I'm teaching on it tomorrow at Bible study, so I'm excited. And I think
- 52:47
- I was excited when you mentioned, you know, talking about this too, because I think evangelism in our day and in our time, by the way too, let me promote this.
- 52:55
- Have you all read Ryan Denton's book, Even If None? Nope. Reclaiming Biblical Evangelism.
- 53:03
- Awesome. And I encourage you, when we get off here, go get it on Kindle. Order it, whatever.
- 53:09
- Ryan Denton, he's a young minister. He's a Presbyterian minister. He started out
- 53:17
- Reformed Baptist, but he's backslid. Whatever. No, but seriously, he is a fantastic man.
- 53:27
- He has such a passion and a desire for the proclamation of the gospel.
- 53:33
- And in this book, the title, you know, I believe, I found it quite unique, quite interesting, because kind of the mantra in Christianity, unconsciously, has been, well, if only one person gets saved, it will have been worth it all.
- 53:52
- And the emphasis gets placed on the results of evangelism rather than the gospel of evangelism.
- 54:02
- The results are on the Lord. The results are the Lord's responsibility. The Lord's the one that converts the heart and the mind.
- 54:10
- The Lord's the one who makes man a new creature. He causes the old to pass away and the new to come.
- 54:17
- This book is titled, Even If None, and basically the premise is this, even if nobody responds to the gospel message, we still have a privilege and a responsibility.
- 54:32
- A privilege and a responsibility. Come on now, come on. And one of the comments, we evangelize to glorify
- 54:38
- God. That's right. We evangelize to glorify God because it's not on us to save people.
- 54:44
- That's exactly right. All we're doing is proclaiming the truth of God's word, the good news that can save a sinner, and salvation is of the
- 54:54
- Lord. Amen. I can't twist somebody's arm. Praise be to God.
- 55:04
- He allows me to preach at my local church. He allows me to preach to the youth at the detention center.
- 55:10
- And no matter how eloquent of speech that I have, no matter if I read
- 55:15
- John 316 18 ,000 times to them, God will do the saving.
- 55:21
- I just need to proclaim gospel. That's right. You know what I'm saying? And Romans 1 16, the gospel is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes, to the
- 55:34
- Jew first and also to the Greek. So it's not me, it's not Pastor Ramsey, it's not
- 55:40
- Mark, it's not anybody in the chat. That's right. But it's salvation is of God.
- 55:46
- And oh, we get the privilege. That's exactly it. To share the gospel.
- 55:53
- And we can do it. You know, everyone's not gifted in evangelism.
- 55:59
- That's true. The Holy Spirit's work to give gifts to the body. However, we're all called to do it.
- 56:07
- That's right. And if we can't, I'm sorry to interrupt. You go ahead. No, no, no. And we can evangelize.
- 56:14
- We get the privilege to evangelize, but we can do it. And Jesus promised to be with us.
- 56:20
- Amen. Amen. And to that, to that, Darrell, think about this.
- 56:25
- I mean, we think about the gospel, only proclaiming the gospel to other people. But the issue is that as individual, even as Christians, we need the gospel every day.
- 56:37
- Come on, yes, sir. If you're sick and ain't got nobody else to preach to, you know what you need to do?
- 56:43
- Preach to yourself. Put on some clothes, get up in front of the mirror, and let that heathen at it.
- 56:48
- Give it to them. Yes, sir. Because the gospel is, it has effect.
- 56:55
- Amen. And that's, this is where we get into doctrine a lot of times. The gospel will harden or it will soften.
- 57:03
- Period. That's it. Yes. And when we go to the detention center, and shout out to Mark again, he made a montage about me saying that I went to jail.
- 57:14
- So if you go to my channel, go to his channel. Were you in jail again this week? I went to jail,
- 57:21
- I killed somebody and robbed a bank. Darrell goes to jail again. But like I see that when
- 57:29
- I go to detention center, and you know, I preach or another brother preaches a sound word about the gospel, and calling them to repent and believe.
- 57:40
- And it's just like, you see the deadness of a sinner's heart.
- 57:46
- And it's just like, when you know that salvation is of the Lord, it's just like,
- 57:52
- I just want to make sure I proclaim the truth clearly, and it's on you.
- 57:58
- And it's like, you can see, and for me, it's so clear, like, seeing the youth, and they hear,
- 58:07
- I mean, some of the preaching that they hear in the detention center is better than half of these people's churches.
- 58:15
- You know what I'm saying? Because the word is clear and exposited. And it's just like, why don't you just run to the cross?
- 58:25
- But it's just like, salvation is of the Lord. You know, we're just planting seeds. Wow. Man, let me read you all a quote from chapter 1, page 11 here.
- 58:37
- Ryan said this. I had him on earlier this year. We talked about the book. And he's got another one that he's written,
- 58:44
- The Evangelistic Zeal of Augustine. I'm going to read and going to have him on, but this is what he said here.
- 58:50
- He said, when it comes to numbering salvific fruit, which, again, goes back to the idea of the effectiveness of evangelization is in the number of people that come, but it's not.
- 59:03
- It's the proclamation of the gospel. But he said, when it comes to numbering salvific fruit,
- 59:10
- Charles Spurgeon exhorts people and says this. Don't be in a hurry to count these supposed converts.
- 59:16
- Don't take them into the church too soon and don't be too proud of their enthusiasm if it isn't accompanied with some degree of softening and tenderness to show that the
- 59:27
- Holy Spirit has really been at work in them. Again, don't number your fish before they are broiled, nor count your converts before you have tested and tried them.
- 59:37
- This process may make your work somewhat slow, but it will be sure. That's a big statement right there.
- 59:45
- Because naturally, in our minds and the way that we're geared and the way really that we've been subconsciously taught, sadly, that a lot of pastors and preachers over the years are guilty of hardening people's hearts to the gospel because they fail to proclaim the full gospel according to the
- 01:00:09
- Scriptures. And folks don't know. That's sad.
- 01:00:15
- That really breaks my heart, and that's been a burden of my heart over the years. People don't realize what a responsibility it is to stand before a group of people every week.
- 01:00:35
- And you have to know that you know that what you're exegeting and expositing in the text isn't going to be shaped by your ideas, which is a discipline.
- 01:00:49
- I don't know how this will be taken, but you've got to whip that out of yourself somehow, because it's ingrained in us.
- 01:00:58
- And we have to allow the Word of God to shape our thoughts, rather than the flip side of that, where our thoughts shape the
- 01:01:08
- Word of God. We want to make the gospel appealing, but the
- 01:01:14
- Scriptures themselves tell us the exact opposite, that it's an offense.
- 01:01:19
- That's right. That it will cause the sinner, because it causes this sinner to cringe.
- 01:01:27
- Like you all, I was raised up in Pentecostal churches, right?
- 01:01:34
- I didn't really know it at the time. It was just church to me. And then you grow up, and you begin to hear, and you begin to learn, and you begin to realize, and when you get saved, then sanctification starts.
- 01:01:50
- Wow! What an amazing eye -opening experience sanctification is, not just from day one, but on whatever day this is.
- 01:02:01
- Yes, sir. 30 -something years later. It's amazing, but what a responsibility it is for individuals when we consider evangelism to know that we have one message to proclaim.
- 01:02:17
- It's a simple message, but to us and to many of the folks who take on this responsibility, it's almost too simple, and we feel like we've got to add something to it.
- 01:02:31
- If you'll just do this, oh, are you sure you're repenting? Well, if we take the advice of a
- 01:02:37
- Spurgeon, time will always tell, Convert. It'll tell on you every time.
- 01:02:45
- Matter of fact, the Scripture's saying another place, right? It's talking about men's sins, that some men's sins go before them, and some men's sins follow after them.
- 01:02:56
- But one way or another, the truth will come out. Amen. And for the
- 01:03:01
- Christian, it will be demonstrated in our lives. Amen. That was a good quote.
- 01:03:06
- Sorry, guys. I'm supposed to be interviewing you all. No, it's good. It's good.
- 01:03:13
- It's good. And with spiritual gifts, it's so scary for people with hearts of evangelism.
- 01:03:27
- It's scary to look down on others that don't have that same zeal for evangelism.
- 01:03:38
- It's a scary place to walk, and I've been there like, do you not care that people die and go to hell every day?
- 01:03:48
- And it's just like, in the back of my mind, it's a sinful thing. You're exactly right.
- 01:03:55
- It's like, yes, the Lord has gifted you with the gift of evangelism to have a zeal for the gospel, but He's gifted somebody else with hospitality or with administration.
- 01:04:07
- And they're good, and they find their passion in that. And don't look down on them because they're not passionate about evangelism.
- 01:04:18
- And it takes the Holy Spirit to really fan a flame in the church for others to look at people that they work with, that they live with, that they play with, saying, no, that person does need
- 01:04:35
- Christ. And it may not be me that can spread the gospel to them. However, I know that sister over there.
- 01:04:42
- I know that brother over there. They love Jesus. So let me get them over my house, and let me have a party or something like that so they can talk to my friend because they need to hear
- 01:04:52
- Jesus. So, yeah. You know, and when I think of evangelism, again,
- 01:04:58
- I always think of Ray Comfort. He's got a book, 101 Biblical Lessons on Evangelism, and it's about the size of a dictionary.
- 01:05:09
- I remember reading that book as a teenager, and I think as a teenager, but there's a lot of quotes from Spurgeon and like William Booth that are, that kind of can ignite a spark.
- 01:05:24
- You know, quotes from Charles Spurgeon like, if you don't want to see other people saved, you are not saved yourself, and you can guarantee that.
- 01:05:33
- You know, there's a quote from Charles Spurgeon on that. But, you know, when
- 01:05:38
- I think evangelism, that book was instrumental really in my life. Well, to that point,
- 01:05:48
- Mark, I think, again, it's always these little offshoots, but these offshoots, these exits are worth taking, particularly in relation to what you just said there, because in Christian circles, there are some in the
- 01:06:07
- Christian circles who hold to, you know, it's just me and my Bible under a tree.
- 01:06:13
- I don't need anything else. But when you begin to read church history, you find that many of the men and women alike that God used greatly throughout history, certainly, the source is the
- 01:06:27
- Scriptures. It's the gospel of the salvation of Jesus Christ. But a great aid to the sanctification of the believer are the many books that have been written.
- 01:06:37
- And just like that book has been a great aid to your sanctification. I remember in high school,
- 01:06:44
- I worked at a car wash, and that's, I read
- 01:06:49
- Hill's Best Kept Secret on about two or three Saturdays. Have you both read that?
- 01:06:55
- I've seen the series many times, but I think I read it a long, long time ago, but I've seen the different,
- 01:07:03
- I've seen like three or four different ones of him. Yeah, the book is worth reading.
- 01:07:08
- I know that's an old person thing, you know. Maybe don't do it justice, but get off my yard!
- 01:07:16
- It's truly, I don't think the series would do it justice. Have you read it, Mark? You know,
- 01:07:22
- I can't, I honestly can't remember there. I've read some of his other books that kind of overlap, because Re -Comfort has a lot of material that overlaps, you know.
- 01:07:33
- When I was a teenager, again, I got his 16 sermons.
- 01:07:39
- So you'd have ones on the occult, on biblical evangelism, you know, Hill's Best Kept Secret, everything there.
- 01:07:45
- Yeah, that Hill's Best Kept Secret in evangelism, really, again, it's a rebuke.
- 01:07:53
- Here's the thing. Evangelism, evangelism, an effective evangelistic proclamation of course has the gospel, but in the gospel, there's always a call to repentance.
- 01:08:13
- And the call to repentance is always a call to repent from sin, whether it's to the lost or the saved.
- 01:08:22
- Again, evangelism, when the Word of God is preached, evangelism is what happens in either case, right?
- 01:08:30
- So what Re -Comfort talked about in this book was just some of the, even the subconscious techniques that many churches begin to employ, and you'll see this when you go into churches.
- 01:08:42
- You don't even think nothing about it, and they probably, for the most part, don't have any idea why it's like it is, but it's probably a tactic to get people to come down to the front, because they just think, they actually build, they think, they might say, well, it's just because of the building codes that we build, where the altar comes down, there's a slant.
- 01:09:04
- No, like Re -Comfort said, it's to help ease the sinner into salvation.
- 01:09:11
- But the thing is, there's no easing into salvation. Conviction is the worst thing that any human being will experience, when
- 01:09:21
- God, the Holy Spirit, convicts you of your sin. And you see, unlike never before, you no longer see yourselves as this good guy, or this good person, or even,
- 01:09:35
- I may be bad, but I'm not as bad as so and so, and so it goes. But the reality is, we all sin.
- 01:09:42
- The problem is, some of us are better at certain sins than others are. And then we want to start comparing our sin and belittling the
- 01:09:52
- Lord's sacrifice, when the Lord's sacrifice is not to be belittled, but it's to be magnified and to be exalted and to be held up above all.
- 01:10:02
- And so, it's just, that idea of evangelism, whether in the church or out of the church, we're always evangelizing.
- 01:10:10
- Always. Yeah, and you know, everyone's an evangelist.
- 01:10:21
- Everyone's an evangelist, but what are you evangelists of? You know what I'm saying? Even, you know, an unbeliever is an evangelist.
- 01:10:29
- Of what, though? Of their favorite TV, like, they will evangelize, bro, like,
- 01:10:35
- I watched a good show, blah, blah, blah, and go 20 minutes. I mean, they got the intro, they got the body, and they got the dun, dun, dun, they got the closing, too.
- 01:10:44
- And they're gonna call you to repentance. Are you gonna watch this show or not? You know what I'm saying? Everybody's evangelizing.
- 01:10:52
- And it's like, we as Christians, we can and we have the privilege, and we're also told to be a witness, be a witness for Him.
- 01:11:04
- we can work the gospel in every conversation.
- 01:11:11
- It's just a matter of knowing the scriptures, it's a matter of asking
- 01:11:17
- God for open doors, because it's just like, you know, do you really want to evangelize?
- 01:11:25
- Pray about it, and watch God answer that prayer. And then, the boldness to walk through that door, and to really, like, there's so many avenues, springboards of, like, bringing the gospel up.
- 01:11:39
- You know, me and Pastor was talking about it before the show, like, in my Ubers, like, it's so easy for me to just talk about the gospel.
- 01:11:48
- And Ray Comfort does it so, so, so well. I mean, he gets to the point. And, you know,
- 01:11:55
- I want to, you know, if I had it my way, if I could pay my bills and be an evangelist like him, like, and do that every day, oh my goodness, my life would be so like, just going preaching every day, like, come on.
- 01:12:10
- But, like, you just got to be in tune with the Holy Spirit, and just, like, Lord, give me an opportunity.
- 01:12:17
- And you will see God open that door, and it's like, okay, God, give me the words. And, you know,
- 01:12:22
- I'm speaking to those that are not, like, evangelistic, because God wants you to evangelize.
- 01:12:29
- And you can evangelize. It's just a matter of doing it, and praying about it.
- 01:12:37
- And God is with you as you do it. Amen. But it's not on you.
- 01:12:43
- Don't be scared. It's not on you to change them, or to save them. You're just telling them the truth of the word, truth of the gospel, calling them to repent and believe.
- 01:12:55
- And for me, like, I'm learning through the Detention Center, and I'm learning, like, and even through my, like,
- 01:13:02
- I would highly recommend anyone to Uber and Lyft. And if you need an invitation code, hit me up.
- 01:13:08
- I got you. But I would highly recommend anyone to Uber and Lyft, because you meet, you meet so many people from different walks of life, and you hear, you hear what the world's talking about.
- 01:13:25
- So even if you have a job, you know, you work with unbelievers.
- 01:13:31
- Like, you know, you hear what they're talking about, and then you can talk, you can speak the gospel into that part of life.
- 01:13:38
- Amen. You know, and it's, and you really understand, like, people are really biblically illiterate now.
- 01:13:47
- Like, they don't, so, like, when I'm preaching to the kids at the Youth Center, like, I'll say maybe sometimes big biblical words, or, and then
- 01:13:58
- I'll break it down, like, justification or righteousness. Or I will literally have to change the words so they understand, because they may not, what is, what is sanctification?
- 01:14:08
- You know what I'm saying? What is the great exchange? So I'll literally have to just break it down to the bare bones and, like, speak in their language.
- 01:14:17
- But I'm, it's just changing the language. I'm not changing the gospel.
- 01:14:22
- You know, you are, you did wrong things against God, your creator, your judge, and they know what that is, because they're in the detention center, and you know, and I just bring it down to their level.
- 01:14:34
- But the same thing with adults, like, if you ask them who Adam and Eve is, if you ask them who Noah is, they're like, Noah's my next -door neighbor, what are you talking about?
- 01:14:42
- You know what I'm saying? Like, sometimes you really have to break it down so they understand.
- 01:14:48
- And two, so that gets into, again, the importance of theology, and the importance of being plugged in to a local church that actually exposits and teaches the
- 01:15:03
- Scripture, because you said that, that, you used that phrase of breaking it down, right?
- 01:15:09
- So evangelism and etymology, everybody thinks, what's that?
- 01:15:16
- Is that the study of bugs? No. That's the study of the meaning of words, right?
- 01:15:21
- So we, as Christians, need to always be growing in our sanctification, yes, but in our mental maturity, right, as far as understanding these words, to be able to take these difficult concepts of theology, the
- 01:15:47
- Trinity, right? So on and so forth, all these big things that intimidate everybody. However, when you really begin to look at these things, and you understand what the
- 01:15:56
- Scripture teaches on these things, we can communicate that to people. And the thing is, evangelism doesn't have, the
- 01:16:07
- Gospel doesn't have to be dumbed down. The theology of the Scriptures should not be minimized to say, oh yeah,
- 01:16:14
- I know the Bible says that, and those words are used, but we need to be saying, the Bible says that, and these words are used, and this is what these words mean.
- 01:16:25
- Because words matter. I know in our society, that's not the thing, right? Words don't mean anything, because you can have them say what they want to say.
- 01:16:34
- Well, tell your wife she's fat. See how that goes. Exactly right. Right? Oh no, you don't understand dear,
- 01:16:43
- I didn't mean it that way. Meanwhile, you've got a bag of peas on your eye, right?
- 01:16:50
- Because she's busted you in the head. Yep, that's right. But yeah, so Mark, you've been quiet, let's bring this to a close, and talk to us just in closing.
- 01:17:05
- Give us some closing thoughts on evangelism and the importance of evangelism. Closing thoughts on evangelism, yeah you know, we listened to a sermon kind of earlier that you suggested, and the guy talked about pragmatism quite a bit, and when
- 01:17:27
- I look around, you know, thinking about my childhood, thinking about now, a lot of times we can see pragmatism in evangelism.
- 01:17:35
- You know, hey, it's a big word, what does it mean, right? Pragmatism generally, hey, it has good results, right?
- 01:17:42
- And we should do it because then it has good results, people will get saved if we do it this certain way.
- 01:17:48
- And so what it looks like in evangelism is, hey, having your revival service, people call it, then you pray the prayer, you raise your hand.
- 01:17:57
- When I was in youth group, you know, as a kid, it was, hey, we're going to have this event, it's going to be super fun, we're going to attract tons of people here, because it's going to be so fun, you don't want to miss it, it's going to be the funnest thing happening in all of Montana.
- 01:18:13
- And so invite your friends, they're going to have a blast, they're going to talk about it for years. We're going to give away, you know, three pound bags of gummy bears to win them for Christ, you know.
- 01:18:25
- We're going to give away an Xbox 360, and we're going to give away all these different things, we're going to bring in inflatables, the boxing ring inflatables so they can punch each other, and really just have a good time.
- 01:18:42
- And so we'll do that, and then we'll bring in a world -class Christian speaker, evangelist, and he will share the gospel, he'll ask people to say the prayer, and then we'll give some
- 01:18:54
- Christian counseling after that. But, you know, looking back, there's a lot of pragmatism there, there's a lot of relying upon entertainment, hey, you come meet with God, hey, we'll give you this.
- 01:19:08
- Or you could earn, at times it could be a car, you know, at times with evangelical events.
- 01:19:15
- And so, you know, what are we relying on when we are sharing the good news?
- 01:19:21
- Is it entertainment, is it, you know, these different things, or is it the power of God?
- 01:19:27
- Hey, first off, we need the power of God in our own lives. We need to be called the power of the
- 01:19:32
- Holy Spirit. We are praying and even fasting, and because if it rises and falls on us, hey, we're out to do the impossible, it's hopeless, it is going to fail.
- 01:19:45
- We need someone who's greater than us to breathe the breath of life into, you know, that pulse.
- 01:19:53
- And so without the power of God, not the power of entertainment and the power of, hey, you might get this.
- 01:20:00
- No, we need the power of God to breathe into dead and dying souls who are in rebellion against God and who need to repent, which again, when people go to, when people hear the gospel, hear the good news, and they are indited with the, hey, you have rebelled against God, they either get angry or they get converted or oftentimes it's angry and then converted.
- 01:20:26
- So that's my thoughts on evangelism is being clothed with power from the
- 01:20:31
- Holy Spirit, not relying on pragmatism or on the things of this world to to draw people and get them to say a prayer or raise their hand.
- 01:20:40
- No, we need the power of God at the end of the day. Amen. Amen. And where does that come from in closing?
- 01:20:48
- I would say that comes from prayer. Amen. Being on our face before God, laying our lost people out before the
- 01:20:57
- Lord, laying our friends and our family before the Lord and trusting in God's sovereignty and saying,
- 01:21:06
- God, I understand, I know you're going to do what you're going to do because you're sovereign, you're king, but that does not, that does not or should not negate the responsibility that we feel within our hearts and in our minds to say, oh
- 01:21:26
- God, please save my lost son.
- 01:21:32
- God, please save my mama. God, please save my daddy. So on and so forth.
- 01:21:38
- Because God is merciful and certainly we don't know who God is going to save.
- 01:21:44
- Yeah, amen. We don't know. That's the issue. And that's the beautiful thing about the sovereignty of God.
- 01:21:49
- That's right. People will say the sovereignty of God takes away the responsibility or the burden to evangelize.
- 01:21:56
- No. It accentuates it. Amen. It brings it to light.
- 01:22:02
- Amen. Because we have to realize one more time, I need God and I don't know.
- 01:22:09
- Sure, they're in a mess right now, but oh, wasn't I in a mess? Yeah, yeah.
- 01:22:15
- Wasn't I the most awful person that ever lived? But God.
- 01:22:21
- Come on, come on, come on. And in His love. Yes, sir. Gave His son.
- 01:22:28
- Yeah. And opened our eyes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So praise the Lord.
- 01:22:33
- Praise the Lord, guys. Can you read Ephesians 2 real quick, 1 -10?
- 01:22:39
- Yes, sir. I really want to end with that.
- 01:22:46
- Salvation is of the Lord and it's a miracle of God. God still performs miracles today.
- 01:22:52
- He still saves sinners. Amen. He still calls Lazarus from the dead with one word.
- 01:23:00
- Come forth. Follow me. And He's the one that does it. But He uses sinners like us.
- 01:23:08
- Amen. It's amazing to know that you know that you are loved by God.
- 01:23:15
- That you're sealed by His Holy Spirit to the day of redemption. It's good to know that His payment was for all your sins.
- 01:23:24
- Past, present, and future. And to rest in the truth of the gospel.
- 01:23:30
- But to know that literally those words that were spoken to you or even the tract that you might have read had the words of life on it.
- 01:23:41
- And God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, raised the dead soul to repent and believe.
- 01:23:49
- And it's all a gift of God. It's all because of His grace. He gave us repentance. He gave us faith.
- 01:23:56
- And the whole of salvation is of Him. But yeah, can you read
- 01:24:02
- Ephesians 2, 1 -10 real quick? That's one of my favorite. I'll quote it all
- 01:24:08
- I can too. And you has He made alive together who were dead in your trespasses and sins.
- 01:24:14
- And once you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the
- 01:24:21
- Spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom we also once conducted ourselves in the lust of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind.
- 01:24:33
- And we're by nature children of wrath, just as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, in His great love with which
- 01:24:41
- He loved us. When we were dead in trespasses and sins, He made us alive together with Christ, for by grace you are saved.
- 01:24:50
- And He raised us up together, and He made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come
- 01:24:58
- He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.
- 01:25:07
- For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
- 01:25:18
- For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which
- 01:25:25
- God has prepared before that we should walk in them.
- 01:25:31
- Amen. Amen. And my grandfather, great Pentecostal preacher, when he would get going, he would say,
- 01:25:40
- Woo! Woo! He would, like, that is the verse 4, but God, being rich in mercy because of His great love with which
- 01:25:53
- He loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, He made us alive. Amen.
- 01:25:59
- And yeah, Woo! Like, it's the gospel, it's good news.
- 01:26:04
- It's good news for sinners like us, so. Amen. Well, let's close with that. I'll just play this and we'll be out, so hang tight, though, for just a few minutes here.
