Bro. Otis Fisher
Give everybody a chance to open the Bible to that. First John Chapter 5. Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. And everyone that loveth him that begat Loveth him also that is begotten of him the word whosoever.
Russell this is not an open invitation for you to decide whether you want to accept him or not. It does not even mean that everyone has the potential. It does mean that there are certain people in the world who have the capability.
How does one know whether they have the capacity? The answer is very simple if you have the overwhelming desire To be in the presence of the Lord and you find yourself talking to him. Chances are you belong to him in Philippians 1 29.
If you'll turn over there, please with me. How does one know? Russell would you read that please? What's that mean to you? All right. But it was given to us for what reason. Based upon what? Right. In behalf of Christ because of what he did.
The belief and the suffering have been given to us. Never. That simply means if it was not given to you, you'd never believe now. Philippians 2 13. Charlotte will you read that so I can hear you? What's that mean to you?
All right. It is God which worketh his will in you. Every one of his children love him and therefore they also love the father. They Let me say that over every one of his children Love him and they also Love the father.
You cannot love Jesus the Christ without loving the father because they are one. Everybody believes that there is a God. Now some of them have strange thoughts about what their God is, but everybody believes in a supreme very being.
That is controlling them. They may whittle out a piece of wood and Set it up someplace and say now control my life but everybody believes. I Wonder why this is in everybody. Everyone has a desire to worship David.
Why do we find that in all humans? That's right. Every the civilization has worshiped something. This is what was left over from Adam's Paul. He left that in man. The desire to worship something so everybody believes there is a God but that does not make you saved.
We know Jesus has said that he is the way. Now I'd like for you to go to the book of John big John 644 read that Debbie. What's that mean to you, all right, you used the word drag. Why. All right. Then David does he drag us kicking and screaming.
But I don't think he was kicking and screaming after that. The word draw does mean drag. Russell it actually means to be compelled by a superior Irresistible force and that's what the Lord said that no one can come to me unless the Heavenly Father Brings him drags him compels him causes him to come.
Now that is a an irresistible superior force. Can you refuse that? No way and again, he said in John 6 55. Charlotte read for us again. Now read John 6 65. Okay. So it's given. We're drawn. The belief is given the suffering is given.
Our salvation is given. Which means how much of it did we have anything to do with it. Debbie nothing. Nothing at all. All right in first John 5 to now. By this we know that we love the children of God.
When we love God and keep his commandments so based on that verse Charlotte, how do we know whether we Love God or whether we know we are a child of God. That all is that all that verse tells. All right.
Who are the children? It is by being in Jesus the Christ that makes it possible for us to be in the presence of God the Father. Does the father see our sin? Russell no, it isn't. I Just remembered no more.
How does he see it? I wish you had an answer like that. I Christ Jesus sees our sin. He walked here among us, but the Heavenly Father does not. Sin cannot be in his presence even in his sight. Anytime he looks at you He sees the righteous born-again part of you because the filter of the blood blocks everything else.
Back at the tabernacle in the wilderness once a year when the high priest Would take the blood of the sin offering Into the Holy of Holies and I'm trusting everybody understands the term Holy of Holies.
In here was the Ark of the Covenant on top of this Wooden box that had been overlaid with gold was what they called The mercy seat it was a slab of gold with cherubim one on each end and they were looking down upon a space right above the Slab in the space right here, and that's where the glory of God dwelt now.
We have a wooden box That represents man we have it covered with gold which represents the righteousness of God. We have the gold slab on top mercy seat, which is the propitiation. Then we have the cherubim guarding that.
Then we have the space right above that of the presence of God. Now, let me ask you When the high priest would take the blood of this offering in and he would sprinkle it on top of the mercy seat. Which is right below the presence of the Heavenly Father.
When the father would look down at man, which was the wooden box covered with righteousness. What's the first thing he'd see the blood? That's what the first thing is he sees is the blood of Christ Jesus.
And it is it filters out all of our sins. For the Heavenly Father, so he sees just that part of your life. That is operating at the moment in faith. In righteousness in communication with him. Now if we could project that on a screen not the works, but a graph.
How many skips would there be in it? Because he sees only When you're operating in faith. And I dare say all of us are not in faith all of the time. If we were it'd be a continuous line. But it's in reality.
It's not like that because we do sin. He doesn't see that but there's a blank spot. Now when we sin We've Forsaken the walk of faith. And we've gone over here to another way, which is the devil's way.
And we travel in it for a little while. When we could have been over here traveling. Now we suddenly realize what we're doing is wrong and we confess. But we have to come back to this walk of faith before we can confess.
But even though time has passed you cannot come back at the same time. You have to go back to where you were. So you see over a lifetime how much Good works you have missed. By every once in a while sinning you've lost that time in fact double that time.
But if you walk continually in the path of faith All of the time. Then you've lost nothing. And you'll get full reward for the deeds you do. But if you take time out to come over here and follow Satan you have to go back to where you left Christ.
You cannot jump right straight across and get in the stream and go on down. Does any of that make sense to you? Yes. That's right. Because Christ was the lamb slain way before so it's hard for my mind to focus on the fact that Everything's already happened.
Everything's already finished. He completed it all and eternity passed and it's all come out of him. And it's all fixed. Therefore he cannot change. But you're right he'd see Christ's blood. Sin cannot be in the presence of the Heavenly Father.
By sight what he's never seen the sin now he. This is stretching a little bit, but he saw us before we were ever born. Because we've always been with him and we were righteous until Adam sinned. He made many and I thought it was very interesting that the scripture uses the word many instead of all.
All have sinned, but many were made to be sinners. Romans 9. Something many were made to be meaning that they were not before. And then by the obedience of one Jesus Christ the same many again were made to be righteous.
So if we were made to be a sinner means that before that we were not a sinner and That was the time. We've always been with him. Up until the time we were born then we came into this world. With a Blanket and appetite speaking lies.
Where are we three for this is the love of God? This is it now. That we keep his commandments. Notice the S on the end of that. You see that Russell Commandments, what's that mean all of more than one?
So this is the love of God that we keep his commandments and his commandments are not grievous. Charlotte, what's the word grievous mean? Burdensome hard almost impossible. Go to the third chapter of 1st John, please.
Roger, would you read the verse? 23 3 23 and 1st John now. The word there is singular, isn't it? He gave us commandment. Now the work that we do Jesus answered the Pharisees were was wanting to know what they could do to do these marvelous works.
They didn't understand but he said the work of God is that you believe on me. My words, but that's what he was saying so In John 1st John 325 and this is his commandment singular. So if we keep his commandment means that we have believed upon him and are in him.
And if we are in him in the next verse Russell read 324. Alright, is that commandment singular or plural? Plural. So He that keeps his commandments all of them. The only reason you can and the only reason you do is because of the first commandment He gave us to believe upon him.
We believe on him. Therefore we keep all of the commandments in the eyes of the Heavenly Father. You see how important just little words single letters are. Verse 4. For whatsoever is born of God Overcometh the world and This is the victory that over cometh the world even our faith.
Please notice. It did not say whosoever. It said whatsoever. Now Debbie. Is that a misprint for whatsoever is born of God? Well David, what does the word whatsoever mean? What category is that? All right.
What does the word born mean means to bring forth to make visible to produce. That's that's what I thought you said. Therefore whatsoever Is brought forth out of God is greater than anything in this world.
That is now under a curse. That means the creation and its original state that means the creation and its new state is far greater than the creation of today and Because of sin and man the world is put under a curse.
In fact, he says to Adam for your sake. I Will curse the world now Steve. Why did he curse the world when he says it's for the sake of Adam for the good of Adam. He's going to curse the world. That sounds strange to me.
Why would he curse the world because of what Adam did he what? Well, sure he could have but he didn't. But he he put the whole creation under a curse. First of all David, what does it mean that creation is under a curse?
No. You're answering the wrong question. All right, it's less than it was. Now what would it have been like Charlotte if God had. If fallen man had been left in a perfect environment, you can't just shake your head.
Oh That's to shake her head the thing What I Sometimes I'm glad I can't hear what did you say? He would because he was falling. Well, he doesn't do me. I want to know what Charlotte said.
All the things that God said were the part of that curse that weren't for our own good and no good for us.
Then you're saying that we would amounted to nothing would have been no good for anything. That is right. So you see the love of God. The blessing that he gave man by cursing the world that's because he cared for man.
And it was the Lord instead of God the Father. All right, let's go a little further so whatsoever now. Whatsoever is each every all any the whole thing everyone all things. Born is to bring forth to make visible.
So therefore whatever is brought forth out of God is greater than this world. We will overcome this world. But It will only be by what. By faith the faith that we got. How? The faith that was imputed to us from the Lord.
Now dare I ask what does the word impute me? Anybody remember. Maybe you know counted. He gave us the faith. Is it ever ours? No. Impute means that it's something that has been given to you for which you are held responsible.
And you must answer for that even though it does not belong to you. That's the faith that he's given us. Who is he that overcometh the world but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? Now you must always remember.
You cannot believe unless that belief is first being given to you. This is he that came by water blood and Jesus even Jesus Christ. Not by water only by but by water and blood and it is the spirit that beareth witness.
Because the spirit is truth. Well, let's see if we can make sense out of this by water. First of all by the water of his birth. Meaning it was born of a woman. By his blood meaning that he was flesh and blood as we are.
By the water of his baptism where the father put his seal of confirmation on him by his blood that was shed on the cross and. By the water and blood that came from his side on the cross as a result of a broken heart.
And by the way, we're talking about size. Did you ever realize that out of the sight of Adam came the human race. Out of the sight of the ark the human race was preserved. And out of the sight of Christ came the church sides.
Seven for there are three that bear record in heaven the father the word of the Holy Ghost these three are one and. There are three that bear witness on earth the spirit and the water and the blood and these three agree in one.
Unfortunately, these two verses Were mixed up and it should read like this. Because there are three the bear record and these three are the spirit and the water and the blood and. These three are one verse seven and eight.
The spirit uses the water of the word to cleanse us and applies the blood for our salvation. First we're cleansed. The Holy Word is the only cleaning agent That will clean you on the inside. If we receive the witness of men the witness of God is greater.
For this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his son. If we believe men certainly ought to believe God. For he is much greater and the greatest of all. It was from Adam's unbelief that we fell so.
It is by the Lord's belief. That we are redeemed from sin. Remember God sees to it that only the right people believe. This is the confidence that we have in him. That if we ask anything according to his will he heareth us.
Now Steve tell me what do you get out of verse 14? I probably skipped him. I'd rather go to 14, but she insists so. Verse 10 he that believeth on the son. Steve can be thinking about that. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him.
He that believeth not God hath made him a liar because he believeth not the record that God gave his son. Debbie can you make God a liar? That's right. It is of great benefit to you if you will Be sure and read that verse 10 real slow and understand this.
That the witness is in you not through you. I hear so many times not here. Don't think I've ever heard it here but they'll say Christ just wants to work through you to do so and so He doesn't do that.
He works in you. If he worked through us we would have no responsibility. Working in us makes us accountable for our own thoughts and our own will. And it is our by our will that we will be judged. That's the motivating factor visions to 10 for we are his workmanship.
Created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. First Corinthians 12 27. Now you are the body of Christ and members in particular. We were put here to work.
We're made in such a way June that we are supposed to work. We have a mind we have arms legs feet brain. Ears. Used to have ears. But we are intended to work as long as we're here. So He works in us. Not through us.
You understand the difference? Anybody not understand? Good two weeks in a day. I'll ask you. And you can tell me this is the record that God has given to us eternal life and this life is his son a Simple question.
Is this Katie over here? Katie can you see eternal life what you say? No. Did the disciples ever see eternal life say? Yes, what is eternal life? Jesus Christ He is eternal life. The eternal life is not something that he hands you on a platter outside of himself.
He is eternal life. He is the resurrection. He is truth. He is the gospel. It is Jesus the Christ 12 he that hath the son hath life. And he that hath not the Son of God Doesn't have life. But that's a rather simple statement we have him only if he's revealed himself to us.
These things have I written unto you that Believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know and this Greek word is I do or or a day means to see with my mind's eye signifies a clear and to pure mental projection.
That you may know that you have eternal life that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. You will know it not only spiritually, but you'll know it carnally. Your carnal mind knows it. It will not accept it, but it knows it.
By the way, all of teaching of the word all of the preaching of the word is Is a directed to who to the world to who the new man. Remember that You cannot preach to carnal people. You cannot teach carnal people.
The teaching is directed at his people. They're the only ones that can hear. And hear with an understanding is what I'm talking about. Now 14, okay. Are we at 14? This is the confidence that we have in him that If we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
Well, then June we ought to be able to ask for anything we want. Shouldn't we he says if you ask anything, he'll hear you. What is the only effective prayer? That's right. The only effective prayer is one that originates in heaven.
Do you understand that? He accepts only what? Originated with him. Even our prayers you cannot just make up a prayer and Have it accepted by the Heavenly Father. It has to start with him. You say well, how does it start?
How do I know? You'll have the desire to pray for a certain thing or certain people. And I'm not talking about automobiles and houses and new shoes. You will have a genuine desire. Impulse. Good intuition, whatever you want to call it concern about a situation.
That situation will by some way affect you when it occurs. This is the way his will is done on earth. It's part of the package of his will being done. He has his saints pray for concerning about this.
Speak to this more next time. We're going to stop now. And we'll start with 14. I have no idea where David will start. But maybe here I hope and next routines.
