- 00:01
- Can you come forward? Yeah.
- 00:06
- Jack, come up here with me.
- 00:09
- You made the announcement, was it last week or two weeks ago? Two weeks ago.
- 00:15
- Yeah.
- 00:15
- That you were going to be retiring as an elder after over 50 years.
- 00:22
- In that area.
- 00:23
- Of service in the church.
- 00:25
- Yes.
- 00:25
- Not trying to call your age.
- 00:27
- Give or take.
- 00:27
- Give or take, yeah.
- 00:29
- And we are very grateful for all that you have done.
- 00:33
- I enjoyed it and loved it.
- 00:35
- Today we have some of your family joining us.
- 00:38
- I don't know if you noticed.
- 00:39
- Yes.
- 00:39
- Did you notice back there? Yes.
- 00:42
- Oh, no.
- 00:51
- Well, Jack, we are grateful for all that you have done for the church.
- 00:56
- And as a token of our appreciation, we have produced for you an ornament for your wall to remind you.
- 01:05
- It says, Jack Bunning, because of your faithful service to this church body, which has spanned for more than a half a century, we honor you this day, March 21st, 2021.
- 01:18
- Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor with deepest appreciation and affection, the congregation of Sovereign Grace Family Church.
- 01:29
- Thank you very much.
- 01:30
- To God alone be the glory.
- 01:31
- Amen.
- 01:32
- Amen.
- 01:41
- Just let you know, the elders that you have, the pastor and the two elders, and then the best you could get.
- 01:52
- I learned a lot being an elder with them.
- 01:55
- I enjoyed my time being an elder, but it comes to a time that I need to step back when I see that I haven't finished, but I'm just not able to do some of the things I'd like to do.
- 02:08
- I'm still going to go around and shake your hand and hug.
- 02:11
- As a man told me when I was a young boy, 27, Mr.
- 02:15
- Mosley, he would go around and he would hug the girls.
- 02:18
- And I says, Mr.
- 02:19
- Mosley, does it not offend your wife when you go and hug the women? He said, son, at my age, it doesn't make any difference.
- 02:29
- He said, remember, you shake the man's hand and you hug the women.
- 02:33
- He was in his 60s and I was in my 20s.
- 02:39
- Thank you very much for the confidence in allowing me to serve you as your elder in the church.
- 02:45
- As I said, there's my other son.
- 02:48
- Yes, you have a whole family.
- 02:50
- See, this is the part that we have to tell you.
- 02:52
- We've tried to keep it a secret, and I don't know if we did a good job, but we have a meal in your honor.
- 02:59
- Callahan Chicken, your favorite, has catered the meal for you.
- 03:03
- Oh, you're going to have some good food.
- 03:06
- And we've invited Tanya and Troy and Todd and their families to be with us today to honor you.
- 03:15
- And we want you to go and enjoy the meal and know that we love you.
- 03:19
- And we were talking about him being in here to affirm the congregation.
- 03:23
- You vote yes.
- 03:24
- Right? Then you can go enjoy the meal, and we'll be in there directly.
- 03:31
- You go ahead.
- 03:32
- The food will be here any minute.
- 03:34
- Go enjoy your family.
- 03:35
- Go enjoy your family.
