What Classic Chewing Gum is Best?

Hey guys, it's Keith. You know, most of the videos I do are either denominational videos, or they're theology videos, or they're some kind of an interview.

But sometimes I do stuff that's just for fun. Like last Christmas, when my kids and I ranked eggnog.

Well today, we're going to be ranking something else. Gum. We can't leave a store without my kids saying,

Daddy, I want some gum. Mommy, I want some gum. They love gum. So today, we're going to be ranking classic gums.

Not just gums that have a classic name, but also ones that have classic commercials.

Ones that I remember from my youth. Number one, we're going to be ranking Juicy Fruit. Now one thing about Juicy Fruit that's different than I remember is the gum is actually a different color.

When I was a kid, Juicy Fruit, the color of the gum was gray. But now if you look at the gum, it's yellow.

One thing about Big Red is Big Red has a bite. It's a cinnamon gum. My kids have never had cinnamon gum and they're going to be surprised because it'd be hot.

Now, Orbit really isn't a gum from my youth, but Orbit has a classic set of commercials.

And last but not least, we're going to do Bubble Tape. Bubble Tape, it's six feet of bubble gum for you, not them.

Now, Bubble Tape is different because it's really not a chewing gum. It's a bubble gum, but I had to get it.

It's just something I loved as a kid. And one of the things about it that I would sometimes see people do is instead of pulling the gum out like tape, they would take the whole roll and bite a bite into it, which made you insane.

So here's what we're going to do. We're going to give a ranking to each gum, one through five stars.

Yeah. You ready? Let's do it. All right, so we're going to start with the Juicy Fruit. Everybody is going to get a stick of Juicy Fruit.

All four of us get one stick of Juicy Fruit. When I was a kid, this was gray. I remember distinctly this gum was gray, but now it's yellow.

Weird. We're chewing on Juicy Fruit. I love it. You love it? I like it too. It was my favorite as a kid.

All right, so between each round, we're going to cleanse our palate with a little bit of water. All right, so we're going to start

So right now, Juicy Fruit is up front. Okay, so now we're going to move on to our next step, and that is

Double Mint. So we're doing Double Mint right now. I'm going to tell you right away, not as good as Juicy Fruit.

It's very minty. It's like you're chewing on a peppermint. You guys agree? I think that was like four stars.

So going down the list, I'm going to give it four stars as well. Actually, you know what? I'm not a big mint fan, so I'm going to stick with Hope on this one.

Extra Flavor, Extra Fun, and Extra Sugar -Free Gum. This is the first one with a foil wrapping instead of a paper wrapping.

This is blue. All right. Yeah, I know, it's blue. Okay, it's a blue color. I'm going to say something real quick.

Mint makes water taste funny. Yeah. It was still minty like the

Double Mint, but it was almost like winter green. It was like cold mint.

I don't know if that makes sense, but I know I want to get JJ's thoughts. Well, if I had to rank this one to five stars,

I would give this a five. This is amazing. You liked it? Okay, so JJ is giving it a five.

I'm giving it a three, because again, I'm just not a mint guy. I don't love mint. All right, Faith, what you got?

A two. Oh, you didn't like this one, huh? No, I hated it. A two, oh, she hated it. And Hope?

Four. A four. Okay, so that's odd. That's like a wild ranking difference. All right, we're moving on to the scary one.

I want us all to try this at the same time. So don't eat this one until we all have ours unwrapped. Three, two, one,

This was their first time having cinnamon gum. I have to tell you, I love this gum, but it's one that I want only on occasion.

This is not my go -to gum. It was like when you chew this gum, it's like chewing a Red Hot. I don't know if you remember

Red Hots, but they were very specific type of candy. You got to kind of be in the mood for this type of candy. JJ, what'd you think?

Not as good as Juicy Fruit. Okay, so what's your stars? Two. I'm going to stick with three.

Nobody has done this, but it's a five. Oh, she liked it. She liked the sauce. I like spicy things.

Yes, it is. It is spicy. Duh. All right, moving on now to Orbit.

Orbit gum. Orbit cleans a dirty mouth. Well, this is the first one that is in the shape of dentine.

This was a, dentine used to be a gum. I think it's still out there, but this was the gum shaped like dentine.

Okay, don't open it yet. It's getting spicy now. This is, this is a spicier mint. This one to me was spicier mint.

I don't know if anybody understands what I mean, but it's like a, it's like a biting mint. This, this bites hard. My opinion is that it's not as spicy as this.

So I really like it. So it's a three. I'm going to give this a one.

I don't like spicy mint. I don't like mint that hurts. And that's the way this felt. I'm giving it a zero.

One. No, no, no, a two. A two, okay. Now it's hard to compare this last one.

It's going to be hard to compare this last one because quite frankly, bubble tape is in a different class of gum.

Bubble gum is different than chewing gum. Chewing gum usually isn't super minty. It's usually got more of a sweet flavor.

So I don't know if I'm going to count this in the overall results, but we are going to give it a taste test just for fun.

If you are a person of culture, you pull the tape and you cut it off.

One thing about bubble tape, and I don't know if it's sugar or not, but something gets all over your fingers. Get ready, set, and go.

So bubble tape, I want to say for myself, bubble tape right away, compared to the flavors of the other gums, it doesn't have one 10th of the flavor.

It tasted very bland compared to the other gums. It's not minty. It wasn't even really that sweet.

It tasted like a cheaper and less quality gum to me. That's my opinion.

So I'm giving bubble tape two stars. JJ? So I'll rank this three stars because I don't really like it.

This was the one that got the highest marks across the board. Everybody loved it, and Hope cannot wait to mix this with the bubble tape and make super gum.
