Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, and asked for letters from him to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the way, both men and women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

And as he was traveling, it happened that when he was approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him, and falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him,

Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? And he said, Who are you,

Lord? And he said, I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do.

And the men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one.

And Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing. Leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.

And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank. Now there was a disciple at Damascus named

Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Here I am,

Lord. And the Lord said to him, Rise up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named

Saul, for behold, he is praying. And he has seen in a vision a man named

Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight. But Ananias answered,

Lord, I have heard from many about this man how much harm he did to your saints at Jerusalem.

And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name. But the

Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine, to bear my name before the

Gentiles, and kings, and the sons of Israel. For I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.

So Ananias departed and entered the house, and he laid his hands on him, and said, Brother Saul, the

Lord sent me, that is, Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you are coming, so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the

Holy Spirit. And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he rose up and was baptized, and he took food and was strengthened.

Now for several days he was with the disciples who were at Damascus. And immediately he began to proclaim

Jesus in the synagogue, saying, He is the Son of God. And all those hearing him continued to be astounded, and were saying,

Is this not the one who in Jerusalem destroyed those that called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?

And Saul kept increasing in strength, and confounding the Jews who lived at Damascus by proving that this one is the

Christ. And when many days had elapsed, the Jews plotted together to put him to death.

But their plot became known to Saul. They were also watching the gates day and night, so that they might put him to death.

But his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a large basket.

And when he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and recounted to them how he had seen the

Lord on the road, and that he had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.

So he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the

Lord. And he was talking and arguing with the Hellenistic Jews, but they were attempting to put him to death.

But when the brothers learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus. So the church throughout all

Judea and Galilee and Samaria was having peace, being built up. And going on in the fear of the

Lord and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it continued to multiply. Now it happened that as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.

And there he found a man named Anais, who had been bedridden eight years, for he was paralyzed.

And Peter said to him, Anais, Jesus Christ heals you, rise up and make your bed.

Immediately he rose up. And all who lived at Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the

Lord. Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, which translated is called

Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charity, which she continually did.

And it happened at that time that she fell sick and died. And when they had washed her body, they laid it in an upper room.

Now since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, pleading with him,

Do not delay in coming to us. So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the upper room.

And all the widows stood beside him, crying and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.

But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body, he said,

Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

And he gave her his hand and raised her up. And calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

And it became known all over Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. And it happened that he stayed many days in Joppa with a tanner named

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there

I will make you hear my words. Then I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he was making something on the wheel.

But the vessel that he was making of clay was ruined in the hand of the potter. So he turned around and made it into another vessel, according to what was right in the eyes of the potter to make.

Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does, declares

11:07

Yahweh? Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand,

11:13

O house of Israel. At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to tear down or to make it perish.

11:22

But if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity

11:28

I plan to do against it. Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it.

11:37

But if it does evil in my sight by not listening to my voice, then I will relent concerning the good which

11:43

I promised to do good to it. So now, then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

Thus says Yahweh. Behold, I am forming calamity against you and devising a plan against you.

11:58

O turn back, each of you, from his evil way, and do good in your ways and your deeds.

But they will say, It's hopeless, for we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.

12:13

Therefore thus says Yahweh. Ask now among the nations, Who ever heard the like of this?

12:19

The virgin of Israel has done a most appalling thing. Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country?

12:28

Or is the cold flowing water from a strange land ever uprooted? For my people have forgotten me.

12:34

They burn incense to worthless gods, and they have stumbled from their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in by -paths, not on a highway, to make their land an object of horror, an object of perpetual hissing.

12:48

Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and shake his head. Like an east wind

12:53

I will scatter them before the enemy. I will show them my back, and not my face, in the day of their disaster.

Then they said, Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah. Surely the law is not going to perish from the priest, nor counsel to the wise men, nor the divine word to the prophet.

Come on, and let us strike at him with our tongue, and let us give no heed to any of his words.

Do give heed to me, O Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend against me. Should good be repaid with evil?

13:28

For they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before you to speak good on their behalf, so as to turn away your wrath from them.

13:37

Therefore give their children over to famine, and deliver them up to the power of the sword, and let their wives become childless and widowed.

13:46

Let their men also be smitten to death, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.

13:52

May an outcry be heard from their houses, when you suddenly bring raiders upon them. For they have dug a pit to capture me, and hidden snares for my feet.

Yet you, O Yahweh, know all their deadly counsel against me. Do not atone for their iniquity, or blot out their sin from before you.

But may they be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.

Mark 4. And he began to teach again by the sea. And such a very large crowd gathered to him that he got into a boat in the sea and sat down.

14:30

And the whole crowd was by the sea on the land. And he was teaching them many things and parables, and was saying to them in his teaching,

Listen to this. Behold, the sower went out to sow. And it happened that as he was sowing, some seed fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate it up.

14:49

Another seed fell on the rocky ground, where it did not have much soil. And immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

14:57

And after the sun rose, it was scorched, and because it had no root, it withered away.

Another seed fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.

15:09

And other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they were yielding a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.

And he was saying, He who has ears to hear, let him hear. And when he was alone, his followers, along with the twelve, began asking him about the parables.

15:29

And he was saying to them, To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to those who are outside, everything comes in parables, so that while seeing they may see and not perceive, and while hearing they may hear and not understand, lest they return and be forgiven.

15:48

And he said to them, Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables?

15:54

The sower sows the word, and these are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown.

When they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

And in a similar way, these are the ones being sown on the rocky places. Those who, when hearing the word, immediately receive it with joy.

And they have no root in themselves, but are only temporary. Then when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they fall away.

16:25

And others are those being sown among the thorns. These are the ones who have heard the word, but the worries of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for anything else enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

And those are the ones which were sown on the good soil. They who hear the word and accept it and are bearing fruit thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.

And he was saying to them, Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be put on the lampstand?

For nothing is hidden except to be revealed, nor has anything been secret but that it would come to light.

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear. And he was saying to them,

Beware what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you.

For whoever has, to him more shall be given. And whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

And he was saying, The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil, and he sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows.

How, he himself does not know. The soil produces crops by itself, first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head.

But when the grain is ripe, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come. And he was saying,

How shall we compare the kingdom of God? Or by what parable shall we present it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is the smallest of all the seeds that are upon the soil, yet when it is sown, it grows up, and becomes largest of all the garden plants, and forms large branches, so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade.

And with many such parables he was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it. And he was not speaking to them without a parable, but he was explaining everything privately to his own disciples.

And on that day, when evening came, he said to them, Let us go over to the other side.

And leaving the crowd, they took him along with them in the boat, just as he was, and other boats were with him.

18:39

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling up.

And Jesus himself was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. And they got him up, and said to him,

Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing? And he woke up, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,

Silence, be still. And the wind died down, and it became perfectly calm.

And he said to them, Why are you so cowardly? Do you still have no faith? And they became very afraid, and were saying to one another,
