Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to the channel where the Bible and critical thinking meet to give you real
00:05
Christian commentary about the things that matter. Thanks so much for watching, let's get into the video. So Max Lucado is a minister at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas.
00:15
But if you're anything like me, you probably didn't even know that. Because it's much more likely that you know Max Lucado as the guy who wrote the book about a little puppet -looking creature named
00:24
Punchinello. He wrote about this character to illustrate the creator -creation relationship that we have with God.
00:31
In addition to this book, though, he has written several inspiring Christian books that have sold thousands of copies.
00:37
Most people think that Max Lucado is a great Christian writer who is trustworthy and who has sound doctrine and strong convictions.
00:44
In reality, there are several practices in Max Lucado's ministry, though, which call into question his doctrine and his discernment.
00:51
One such practice is that of linking up with prosperity gospel teachers. For those of you who don't know, the prosperity gospel is a message which says that God will give you health, wealth, and success if you only have enough faith in Him.
01:03
Watch the American Gospel Documentary link in description for more information on that. So without further ado, let's talk about my serious doctrinal concerns when it comes to Max Lucado.
01:13
And let's do this using three biblical points, shall we? Number one, Max Lucado has directly endorsed
01:19
Christine Kane. For context, Christine Kane is a female Bible teacher from Australia who often preaches the prosperity gospel, which
01:26
I alluded to earlier. Not only is it unbiblical to have a female teacher who teaches before mixed audiences, it is also unbiblical to offer false teaching.
01:35
Christine Kane does both of these things, and she does them unrepentantly. First Timothy 2 .12 says this,
01:45
In this passage, Paul is speaking about the church. So there you have it, folks. Christine Kane is breaking
01:51
God's Word every time she preaches to men and women, which she does quite often. Christine Kane also holds to heretical word -of -faith doctrine.
01:59
She's quoted as saying the following with regards to one of Jesus' miracles. Quote, There was something about this man's faith that activated a miracle.
02:08
End quote. The he in the quote you just heard is not referring to Jesus, but the man who's being healed by Jesus.
02:14
In other words, she is suggesting that our faith can solicit healing from God. And if we are not being healed by God, then it must be a result of our lack of faith.
02:23
I'll link another video about Christine Kane in the description made by Polite Leader which will elaborate on this.
02:29
In any case, it is public knowledge that Christine Kane is a female teacher who preaches to men and women, as well as a word -of -faith prosperity gospel teacher who is heavily involved with Hillsong Church, another movement that preaches false doctrine.
02:41
Kane is both a false teacher herself and a partner of other false teachers. She unrepentantly offers dangerous false teaching to the
02:49
Church, and as a result, all sound teachers of God's Word should rebuke her teaching rather than support it.
02:55
Which brings me to point number two. Romans 16, 17 says that we ought to avoid those who teach false doctrine.
03:01
It says, I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught.
03:09
Avoid them. But Max Lucado, the immensely popular Christian teacher and author, does not avoid false teachers as the passage says.
03:17
Instead, he actively endorses these teachers who are bringing dangerous and unbiblical ideas into the
03:23
Church. Case in point, Max Lucado wrote the foreword to Christine Kane's book, Undaunted.
03:28
And guys, writing the foreword to someone's book is just about as close to a direct endorsement of their ministry as you're going to get.
03:35
But it wasn't just writing the foreword that got my attention, although that was already unbiblical enough to get me concerned.
03:41
It goes much deeper than that. Let's take a look at what Max wrote with regard to Christine Kane in the foreword to her book.
03:47
Max says, I've wondered what it would be like to visit with the Apostle Paul. I've imagined a good chat with Mary, the mother of Jesus.
03:55
I've envisioned a conversation with Esther, the Liberator, Paul, Mary, Esther.
04:01
As it turns out, I've met all three in the person of Christine Kane. So there you have it, folks.
04:07
Christine Kane has unbiblical teaching and an unbiblical ministry which goes against the Bible's clear command in 1
04:13
Timothy 2 .12 and several other passages. She preaches unbiblical doctrine about prosperity and success along with endorsing movements like Hillsong who do the same thing.
04:23
In response, the Bible clearly tells us to rebuke and avoid these people who craft unbiblical doctrine.
04:29
That's the most loving thing to do. That's the most Christian thing to do. But against the clear command of Scripture, Christian author
04:35
Max Lucado not only supports Christine Kane from a distance, that would already be bad enough, but he even takes it a step further and says that Christine Kane's life and ministry perfectly exemplify that of Paul, Mary, and Esther combined.
04:50
It's honestly really hard for me to imagine a more unbiblical and absurd comment than comparing these three people to Christine Kane.
04:57
But that's exactly what Lucado said. And here's the point. What you have just been shown is concrete evidence that Max Lucado partners with and supports unbiblical ministries.
05:08
Which brings me to point number three. So as I said at the beginning of the video, most people think that Max Lucado is a good, strong teacher who tells people the truth.
05:16
I mean, after all, isn't that a Bible teacher's job? To offer people the truth? But if that is the case, then why is
05:22
Max Lucado endorsing teachers who lead Christians into what is false? Isn't that the exact opposite of being a good minister and teacher of God's Word?
05:31
Acts 20 .28 says this, The passage talks about paying attention to the
05:47
Church and caring for it. Surely encouraging the Church to listen to teachers who preach false things is the exact opposite of following that command.
05:56
So what should we do as a result of this video? Well, I wouldn't recommend reading any of Max Lucado's work or listening to his teaching.
06:02
In fact, I'd recommend directly against that. He has clearly demonstrated consistently that he lacks the discernment necessary to be teaching massive amounts of Christian people.
06:11
Here's my point. If you consume content made by Max Lucado, you are in direct danger of being led into false teaching.
06:18
There's no doubt about that. And Max, if you're somehow watching this, just know this is not an attack on you.
06:24
You can always repent of this and cease all of your connections with false teachers. This is not a hopeless situation.
06:30
Just simply apologize and stop endorsing unbiblical ministries. It's really as simple as that. There is more than enough grace in Christ to cover you in this situation.
06:39
So let's pray for Max Lucado that he would repent of all of this and preach the truth of God's Word. Thank you so much for watching.
