Ergun Caner, LU, and Glenn Beck

Just a quick screen flow video from here in Pryor, Oklahoma, my hotel room here as I'm speaking. End of a one week long trip. Two related stories. I was just directed to an article that Jason Smathers posted titled, Canner Labels His Critics Cyber Terrorists.

And evidently, there are two lawsuits. They had originally been together and they've been split apart. And as you know, Canner lost the first. Lord willing, he'll lose the second very soon. Should, on any meaningful logical grounds, if there's justice anywhere.

But in this second suit, which is coming to a head here, Canner's attorney by the name of Gibbs, a man who claims to be a Christian, says a number of things. I've already tweeted and posted the link to this particular article.

And you can see it on the screen there, actually, if you want to follow it. But notice one of the statements that was made is, Gibbs focused the motives of Autry in much of his arguments while labeling him as an anonymous cyber terrorist and questioning whether or not his motives were noble.

What an amazing amount of hypocrisy on Gibbs' part and on the part of Canner. Here is a man we have documented beyond all reasonable doubt. This man's dishonesties, his deceit, his lies. He has stood in public and claimed to have debated people that he knew he had never debated.

These weren't misstatements. These were bold lies that profited Ergin Canner. This is the fact. There is no question of this. So in the process, he claims to have been trained to be a terrorist. And now he's calling those who have exposed his lies cyber terrorists.

Does he know no shame? Evidently he does not. It is truly shocking, and let's pray that justice is done here, that Canner is slapped down, his supporters finally wake up and do the right thing, and this man is finally removed from the positions of authority that he has managed to obtain until he repents and seeks forgiveness.

Right now he continues to claim to be as pure as the driven snow. But it's interesting. We are dealing with this today because previous institutions, specifically Liberty University, acted not as Christian organizations but as political organizations.

When the facts concerning Canner's lies and deceit came to public notice, Liberty, if it was a truly Christian organization in its leadership, should have acted in an appropriate fashion, brought all the facts to light, admitted that this was the case, taken whatever lumps they had to take for having promoted this man, and fired him on the spot.

That would have been the appropriate thing to do. Instead, they protected themselves and hence gave Canner cover to now be engaged in the activities he is engaged in, including the suing of Christians, the direct violation of Scripture, proclaiming his own innocence, and using Liberty as a cover for all of that.

That brings me to the second story, and it also has to do with Liberty. Recently I was directed to the appearance of Glenn Beck at Liberty University. Yeah, the same Liberty University. And, well, what an amazing thing.

Here you have a Mormon speaking at a Christian university. We're going to take a look at two sections of this particular presentation. The first is, I guess this is something that Glenn Beck does a lot of, but this is his opening introduction.

I would ask the Lord to be present and to guide my words. I got up this morning with a very different message planned for you today, and I asked my team to gather around my bed this morning in the hotel to get down on bended knees and pray.

And I beg the Lord for forgiveness. I should dedicate all of my time to pour over his Word. For when you're called upon, you would have it inside of you. You would know exactly what to say. You are entering a time unlike anything America or the world has ever seen.

The possibilities in front of you are endless.

Okay, so it starts off with Glenn Beck talking about praying and becoming very emotional. Evidently, he does a lot of crying in his public presentations. And then he shows some things. He shows some Bibles, and he talks about the Bible and the importance of Scripture, all of which is wonderful, and I'm sure the non-discerning students in the audience are just going, wow, this is wonderful.

This guy's great. And then we went to this.

I share your faith.

Around people, you have discernment, and the Spirit can speak to you and say, stop, turn around, go the other way, and you will obey.

Well, actually, I hadn't intended to do that. I don't know why VLC just absolutely blows the screen up every time. I actually had wanted to get to that part. Providence here, live Providence. Later on, he will talk about discernment, which I found so utterly ironic in a man like Glenn Beck, who shows zero discernment when it comes to theology.

But he'll talk about discernment. But this was what I wanted to play. Let's make it work this time.

I share your faith.

I am from a different denomination.

Just a denomination.

And a denomination, quite honestly, that I'm sure can make many people at Liberty uncomfortable.

I'm a Mormon.

But I share your faith in the atonement of the Savior, Jesus Christ. I ask you now, in my faith, we have a guy who gave his life for what he believed in. You don't have to believe it. I'm not asking you to.

I'm asking you, what is it that you believe? Are you willing to give your life?

It's real.

This is not a textbook. Your classes are over. Life is about to begin.

And it's real.

What are you willing to do? What is it that means something to you? Days before Joseph Smith was martyred, he was taken out by the sheriff. They tried to tar and feather him several times. He was taken out by the sheriff.

And the last time they took him, they said, you owe $200. I think it was $25. You owe him $25. He said, I don't owe a man anything. He said, no, you stole a stove. One of the most ridiculous charges I've ever heard.

At that time, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his pocket watch. This is his pocket watch that he pulled out. He gave it to the sheriff and said, I owe a man nothing. They let him go. They killed him.

But on the warrant for his arrest, he wrote on the back of his warrant to his people, put down your guns. No matter what happens, put down your guns.

Put down your guns.

Martyr.

Well, let's check that out, shall we? Here is us from BYU Studies. We have the documentary history of the church. Documentary history of the church. And here is just a portion. This is generally available.

It's not hidden anywhere. Documentaries of the church. It says, I shall never forget the deep feeling of sympathy and regard manifested in the countenance of Brother Joseph as he drew nigh to Hiram and leaning over him exclaimed, oh, my poor dear Brother Hiram.

This is during the attack on the prison. This is where Smith will be murdered. He was murdered. He was murdered by white men dressed up as Indians. And it has been often pointed out that Joseph Smith gave the masonic distress signal as he was falling out of the window of the upper story being shot.

Why would he be doing that unless he figured that some of those people involved in that mob were his fellow masons who would have to respond to that? Be it as it may, they are in the jail. Hiram has already been shot through the door.

And notice the rest of the wording. He, however, instantly arose and with a firm quick step and a determined expression of countenance approached the door and pulling the six-shooter left by Brother Wheelock from his pocket, opened the door slightly and snapped the pistol six successive times.

Only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these discharges, two of whom I'm informed died. Many years ago I stood in the church history section of the LDS office building.

They had this display area in the LDS office building in Salt Lake City. And they had, I think they even had that pocket watch that Glenn Beck had. But they had a number of artifacts from the martyrdom of Joseph Smith.

You might consider this picking at nits, being picky about words. But I do not consider someone a martyr who is armed and shoots back. And who, according to the history of the church, kills two of his attackers with the use of a firearm as they are attacking him.

That's not martyrdom. That's not how Stephen died. That's not how Jesus died. That's not martyrdom. And so why doesn't Glenn Beck tell the whole story? Oh, put your guns down. Except bring one to me in the jail so I can shoot back.

Really?

Does Glenn Beck know? Has he ever read the history of the church? I don't know. I don't know. But what amazes me is the abject abandonment of the responsibility of the leadership of Liberty University to let this man stand in front of the student body and propound these myths in support of a rabid, anti-Christian false prophet by the name of Joseph Smith.

Do they not know?

Do they not know that Smith said we've imagined, supposed from all eternity that God has been God from all eternity? I'll refute that idea and take away the veil so that you may see. Don't they know that he denied the eternality of God?

He taught a polytheism of such an extreme level that as I've said more than once, Islam is closer to biblical Christianity than Mormonism ever could be? Do they not know this? Of course there are people at Liberty that know this.

Then what's with the leadership? What's with the leadership allowing Mormons to proselytize their students within the student body itself on campus? At the same time, covering their ankles in the Eric and Keanu situation and allowing what has happened because of their inaction.

It's time for a change at the head of LU. Big time. Big time. Don't know how it's going to happen, but there's time. Now's the time. Needs to be done. Needs to be done. Much more can be said, especially about the discernment statement that in Providence somehow managed to get up there.

But, and Glenn Beck was wearing sneakers with that suit too. That to me, I'm not sure what it means. Just sort of, they had green stripes on it. Sort of strange. Anyways, I just, you have to laugh toward the end of something like this because only a matter of years ago, if someone said, you know, they're going to let Mormons speak at LU.

Well, our Christian publishing houses are publishing LDS books. Why not? Why not? It seems that discernment has flown the proverbial coop for many who are in positions of leadership. So there's our thoughts for today.
