So why is believing in a historical narrative of Genesis important while raising kids?
You know, that's another really good question, and it's one that resonates very personally with me, is that I'm a father of four kids, and I didn't convert to being a biblical creationist until about five years ago.
So when I was raising my two older girls, they would ask me questions like, hey Dad, where do the cavemen come from, or where do they fit in the biblical timeline?
My answer was, well honey, if you believe in the old earth, here's your answer, but if the earth is young, then here's your answer.
Same thing about dinosaurs or saber -toothed cats, whatever it might be, my two oldest daughters heard a dad that interpreted the
Bible through two different possible frameworks. But what they were really hearing was, maybe
Dad doesn't really stand on the word of God, or maybe he doesn't know, or even worse, maybe the Bible doesn't have a clear message about origins, all these questions that they're curious about.
But when I saw the evidence of Noah's flood and dinosaurs, and I converted to a creationist,
I had to go back and retrain my older two girls, but my younger two kids, they got a straight message from Dad.
So what about dinosaurs, what about cavemen, what about saber -toothed cats? I was able to answer through a single worldview, one that was truly grounded all the way back to the book of Genesis.
