Why Are Charismatics So Weird? The Critter

Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Justin Peters. I hope that you and your family are doing well today. I want to thank you so much for joining me for this podcast. And this is the second installment of the Why Are Charismatics So Weird series.

So this clip is taken from the Jim Baker show. Some of you slightly older saints probably remember Jim Baker from back in the 80s. He was famous or infamous, depending upon your point of view, as just one of the slimy, greedy, fake televangelists.

Well, he was arrested for fraud and spent some time in prison, wrote a book entitled I Was Wrong, but now he's basically back to doing the same thing that he was doing before. So I guess his next book should be I Was Wrong About Being Wrong.

I mean, he's changed his tactics, but there's no significant change. But anyway, so he's got this program and he's had several guests on there that might surprise you. He's had Robert Jeffress and David Jeremiah as guests on his program, sadly.

But this past November of 2021, he had a couple on his program by the name of Derek and Sharon Gilbert, and they have their own television show and they do some stuff with UFOs and whatnot. But anyway, I got to show you this clip.

It made quite a bit of news. It made the rounds. But watch this clip from Derek and Sharon Gilbert on the Jim Baker show, November 2021. And I might have a little edit of my own in there just for them.

Well, you'll see.

After Derek and I got married one night. This other Derek. Appears in our bed. The real Derek is lying down next to me. Other Derek.

I'm Larry. This is my brother, Daryl. That's my other brother, Daryl.

Other Derek sits right up out of him. It startled me. I knew that was not Derek. And so I asked this critter. And so I asked this critter, who are you? Because he clearly wanted to have sexual relations.

And I said, he said, come on, I'm your husband. I said, who are you? And he had the nerve. To claim to be.

So this critter, this other Derek. Crawled into bed with her and had. Less than honorable intentions. So folks, this is just lunacy. This is lunacy. But this is the mainstream of the charismatic movement.

As I said in the inaugural video to this series. Why are charismatics so weird? This is not the fringe of the charismatic movement. This is the mainstream of the charismatic movement. And the world is laughing at it.

I want to show you this video. A few excerpts from a video from a YouTube channel. Entitled The Young Turks. The Young Turks. I don't know a lot about them, but they're leftist politically. And they profess to be atheist, profess to be atheist.

So, and they pick up from time to time. Video clips of evangelicals. Charismatics almost without exception. And they make fun of them. Rightly so. So watch this.

To do something that was going to pull me away from God.

That was amazing. That was, I've always wondered. How do these televangelists manage to draw an audience?

Right?

Like you got Pat Robertson. I can't believe he's still alive. I mean it's amazing. Like who tunes in? Like how do they sustain this whole televised situation?

I want to know more.

Have you ever like woken up in the middle of the night and some critter. You could tell like you looked at the critter. And you're like that critter wants to have sexual relations.

We have to take another look at the best reaction to her story. Let's go.

Because he clearly wanted to have sexual relations.

So you see dear ones, as ridiculous as this stuff is. And it's hard not to laugh at it because it is so ridiculous. The fact of the matter is, is that the world sees this too. And they're laughing at it.

Talk about getting painted with a broad brush. I mean that's what charismatics. Oh to critics like me and John MacArthur and others. Oh you paint us with a broad brush. The only painting with a broad brush that's really going on here.

Is the world seeing this nonsense from quote unquote Christians. And they think that's what Christianity is. That's what they think Christianity is. And it makes a mockery out of Christianity. It brings a reproach upon the gospel.

The world is laughing at it. And frankly God is disgusted with it. So all right dear ones. Until our next installment. Until our next time together. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. The love of God and the fellowship of His Holy Spirit.
