Revelational Knowledge and the Limits of Human Certainty

If you are a finite individual and you are limited, how could you know what the true nature of reality is? How could you know that? Unless you knew everything, right? Or someone who knows everything told you, and he's omnipotent.

So not only does he tell you, he is able to cause you to know truly the specific item of human experience that he's revealing to you. You see? Now if there is no omniscience anywhere, then there can be no knowledge anywhere.

Because if you do not know everything, then there is always some mysterious unknown item of reality that can present itself and falsify everything you think you know. Okay? And so we ground our worldview in the personal triune God who reveals.

Presupposing Christian Revelation

Very basically, how do you know Christianity is true? The simple answer, and it's very enticing and leads the person to ask more questions, which is a good technique. How do you know Christianity is true?

Well, God's revealed it. That throws people off. You'd be surprised. But wait a minute, you can't say that. You can't use the Bible to prove the Bible. Really? Prove to me that we should use logic without using logic.

Go ahead. Prove to me the validity of your own reasoning without using reason. You see? We all assume things, and I unashamedly assume the Christian revelation. Well, you can't do that. That's ridiculous.

Well, I can do it, and I want to show you that you too presuppose your own Bible. This is your Bible has tattered pages and bad theology.
