The doctrine of the week for this Sunday is the exclusivity of Jesus Christ.
00:10
To put it simply, Jesus is the only way of salvation.
00:16
Jesus said in John chapter 10 verse 9, I am the door.
00:22
If anyone enters by me, he will be saved. And then in Acts chapter 4 verse 12, the
00:29
Apostle Peter, while filled with the Holy Spirit, said nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
00:45
So according to the Holy Spirit and the scripture he inspired,
00:51
Christ is the only Savior. How can that be a controversial thing?
00:57
And yet it is, and many professing evangelicals have a hard time with it.
01:03
Some even reject it, which I don't see how you can be an evangelical if you reject this most basic of all doctrines.
01:12
And you consider even in the Old Testament, God established the sacrificial system.
01:19
The blood of the lamb was shed, and that was a picture of God punishing sin.
01:25
So atonement was made. And we see in the New Testament, all of that was a foreshadow of Christ, who was the
01:34
Lamb of God come to take away the sin of the world, John 1 29. Now it's true in the
01:42
Old Testament, which is one of the common questions that comes up in the Old Testament. They did not know the name of Jesus, that's true.
01:50
But if they place their faith in God's word, they would be saved by faith.
01:56
And then in the gospel of John chapter one, we see that Christ is the word of God made flesh.
02:03
And finally, in John 14 verse six, Jesus himself said, I'm the way, the truth and the life.
