Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to Fight For Truth, the channel where we bring you Christian commentary about the things that matter.
00:07
In today's video, we're going to be talking about a TikTok clip from a progressive Christian named Pastor Adam.
00:13
Most progressive Christians are complete and total antinomians. Antinomian is a compound word, in a sense, made up of roughly two parts, anti meaning against and namos meaning law.
00:24
Thus, progressive Christians, for the most part, are against the law of God. That's what it means to be antinomian.
00:31
Of course, this leads to all sorts of crazy contradictions in their worldview. The Bible calls out many sins in the law of God, and calls
00:39
God's people to submit to His Word. The way that most progressive Christians deal with this is twofold.
00:45
One option is to simply ignore these things, to instead use popular slogans like, love is love, and only
00:51
God can judge, stuff like that. The other option, and this one is markedly more clever, they will reinterpret the standards of God's Word in favor of a more progressive interpretation.
01:01
This is when you hear things like, when God called out homosexuality in the Bible, He was actually talking about temple worship, not loving same -sex marriage.
01:10
That's not at all what God meant. And these are basically their only two plays. They don't really have anything else, and neither of these things work.
01:18
So if you have a solid biblical worldview, you can critique them. So with that said, let's watch this video and react to it using the
01:25
Bible as our standard. Watch this. Hey everybody, do you remember when Jesus said that it's easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than it is for a gay man to enter the kingdom of God?
01:37
Oh, that's because He didn't say that. Let me offer you three reasons that this is not biblical and simply not true.
01:44
Number one, this is an argument from silence. Matthew 19 .24 does indeed say, quote,
01:50
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.
01:57
Essentially, the argument in the video, though, as you'll see, is that Jesus called out the rich people of His day.
02:03
But what He didn't say was that it was hard for practicing homosexuals to enter the kingdom of heaven.
02:09
Therefore, according to Pastor Adam, Jesus didn't condemn homosexuality. But this is not how logical argumentation works, and it's certainly not how biblical study works.
02:19
When we read the passage, our main point should be what Jesus actually said, not what
02:25
He didn't say. By this exact same fallacious standard, I could present the following argument.
02:31
In Matthew 5 .21, Jesus says this, quote, You have heard that it was said to those of old,
02:37
You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be liable to judgment. But I say to you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment.
02:46
So Jesus calls out sinful anger here. But guess what? Jesus didn't call out stealing in this particular passage.
02:53
Therefore, Jesus cares a whole lot about sinful anger, and He doesn't care at all about stealing.
02:59
Do you see how this argument from silence works, or really, how it doesn't? If I say this, I'm ignoring the actual meaning of the passage in favor of making up whatever
03:08
I want that's not in the passage. This is a very dishonest way of reading Scripture, and it brings us to our second problem.
03:15
The same logic used by this progressive Christian TikToker could be used to justify a litany of other sins.
03:22
Jesus specifically called out rich people in the passage, but He did not call out adulterers, thieves, liars, gossipers, or murderers.
03:31
Does that mean that none of those things are wrong and sinful? Of course not. And this brings us to the third point.
03:36
This progressive Pastor Adam, and indeed many other progressive Christians, has failed to understand the proper limits of language.
03:44
Psalm 103, verse 14, says that God, quote, knows our frame. He remembers that we are dust.
03:50
Human beings are finite creatures, created from the dust by God, and as such we are bound by certain limitations.
03:57
For instance, a human being cannot make an infinite amount of points all at once through one sentence.
04:03
We can only use a certain amount of words, and those words can only mean a certain amount of things.
04:08
Jesus is making a single point here in the passage. It is hard for the rich to enter the
04:14
Kingdom of Heaven. He does not simultaneously have to make every other biblical point in all of Scripture as well in order for those points to be valid.
04:22
By this progressive Christian's standard, God has to call out every sin every time He calls out one sin.
04:28
And this is simply not realistic or fair. Nothing about His point was remotely compelling or biblical in the slightest.
04:36
But speaking of unbiblical points, let's watch the next clip of His video. Check this out. Oh, that's because He didn't say that.
04:43
In fact, Jesus said that it's easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the
04:49
Kingdom of God. That's because Jesus never condemned being gay, but He did condemn being greedy.
04:57
Ah yes, it seems that we have returned to the same progressive Christian argument that is so common it might as well be called old faithful.
05:04
Jesus never condemned homosexuality. Jesus never talked about being gay. But He did condemn being greedy and judgmental.
05:12
This point is really easy to dismantle if we just read Scripture. First off, Jesus doesn't have to say the word homosexuality in order to call out homosexual behavior.
05:22
This is an attempt to put Jesus at odds with His own Word. You see, Jesus personally affirmed the entire law of God.
05:30
In Matthew 5 .18, Jesus says this, "...for truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished."
05:42
Additionally, He said in John 17 .17, "...sanctify them in the truth, your word is truth."
05:49
Jesus affirmed all of God's Word, all of God's revelation. And what does God's Word say about homosexuality?
05:56
Leviticus 18 .22, "...you shall not lie with a male as with a woman, it is an abomination."
06:02
But that's just the Old Testament, one might say. Well, first off, the Old Testament is equally God's Word, just as much as the
06:09
New. And more than this, there is absolutely no evidence that God's moral standard regarding homosexuality being a sin changed from the
06:17
Old Testament to the New, especially as compared with ceremonial laws such as feast days, temple sacrifices, and cleanliness laws.
06:24
But setting that aside, there is still a mountain of evidence here. Romans 1 .26 -27, "...for
06:31
this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature.
06:39
And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."
06:52
So homosexual activity is, quote, "...contrary to nature," and it constitutes a, quote, "...shameless, dishonorable passion."
06:59
That's what the Bible says. And indeed, the entire Bible is inspired by the same Spirit and affirmed by the same
07:05
Jesus. Making the case that Jesus never called out homosexuality is absurd then, and it simply ignores a mountain of Biblical evidence to the contrary.
07:15
The fact is, folks, progressive Christianity is in the business of making excuses and manipulating
07:20
Scripture. That's really their only two plays. There is nothing Biblically true or compelling about this worldview.
07:27
Just a bundle of contradictions and half -truths meant to excuse sin and misrepresent
07:32
God. Please, cling to the truth of Scripture and do not be deceived by this nonsense. I pray that this has been a blessing to you, and please know that this video isn't meant as a sinful attack, but rather as a
07:43
Biblical critique. And let's pray for Adam, the maker of this TikTok, that he would stop spreading this unbiblical falsehood of progressive
07:50
Christianity, and by God's grace that he would turn to the truth of God's Word. Thank you so much for watching that video.
