How to Tie a Bow Tie with James White

So this is a brand new, never out of the bag, bowtie, okay?

So this is from Bowties Limited of Vermont, which is a great place to go if you want to get really beautiful bowties, it is the best place

I've found. And it's the place you can go to if you want to have a tie, a regular size tie, cut down to a bowtie.

That's what this is. This is a Rush Limbaugh tie, an actual Rush Limbaugh tie, made into a bowtie.

So they did it at Bowties Limited of Vermont. I get no kickbacks from them at all. Now, this is what a bowtie looks like, and you'll see that it has the ability to adjust.

Now, Brother Keith here is not the smallest man on the planet. I'm doing my best.

I go to the gym. We're going to - It's on the way to McDonald's. We're going to give a fair amount of space here, hoping that we can get it like this.

So what you do is you put it around underneath the collar, go ahead and put the collar down.

It's hard for me to do this without a mirror.

Okay. All right. There's a couple little tricks, all right?

The first thing is when you cross the two, you don't want them even.

You want one of them to be about an inch longer than the other. So this one normally is the one that needs to be about an inch longer than the other.

So you pull it down, and that's about right, because one of them is going to be tying, and the other one's going to just be straight.

So it's going to impact over time. I think we - There we go. All right. So what you do is you just make -

Let's see here. There we go. You just make a knot like this.

It's like a regular, like a tying shoe? And now I will kill Keith. Okay. Then you take -

Now, this is going to be - You see this part here in the center? That's what that's going to be. So this is going to be your front side, all right?

So you see how that's a bow, okay? So you put this over the top.

Can you see how that's going to end up? But now what are you going to do with all the rest of this stuff? Here's the key, and when

I tried to read the instructions in just English, I could never figure it out until I went on YouTube and watched a guy at a tuck shop, and then in 3D,

I could see where he was - The hole that he was talking about was not visible otherwise.

So you take this, and then you want to sort of fold over -

You can fold it over, hold it like this. This is very hard to do when there's somebody - When it's not me. You take this side, and there is a hole -

There's supposed to be a hole anyways. Right there. See where my finger's going through? That's what I've got to get this through.

Like this. Punches him in the face. Really hard to grab here.

I have a big neck, I'm sorry. No, no, that's all right. It's just hard to see -

There you go. So I'm going to try to get this through that hole, and there we go.

Grab it. All right. Got it through. Now, it's going to come through all messed up, basically.

But what you want to try to do is get as much of it through, and then you can flatten it out on the other side. This may not turn out all that pretty on the first run,

I apologize for that. It's hard to do. I'm going to wear it forever. Yeah, you don't want to do that. I'm never washing this neck again.

No, no, no. That's bad. And then you want to tighten it up so that it doesn't just flop around.

And then I try to pull these out a little bit. Some guys like to keep theirs really narrow. I like mine to sort of -

See how that side has sort of gotten squished down? And then you try to even them out by pulling on that side, and that will tighten the thing in the center.

So if I do this, is it - Do I pull just the front or both? If you want to tighten it up, one side in the back and one side in the front.

So this would let it go, so you'd tighten it like that. Okay. Now, if you wanted it tighter up here, we would have had to have done that with the initial knot.

No, it's fine. It's fine. This is perfect. Yeah. So there it is. Ladies and gentlemen,
