- Another attribute of gods of deity, those meaning that he alone possesses, is the attribute of immutability.
- 00:08
- This is the idea that God's nature is incapable of change. He cannot change.
- 00:14
- We see this in James 1, verse 17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
- 00:21
- Father of lights, without whom there is no variation or shadow of change.
- 00:27
- Hebrews 13, verse 8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- 00:32
- That's what it's speaking about there, folks. That Jesus Christ is immutable, that he cannot change in his nature.
- 00:39
- Doesn't, by the way, mean that the gifts he gives wouldn't change. It means that his nature doesn't change.
- 00:44
- Now, how does this affect us? Well, it's encouraging for us to know that God is not going to promise something today in his nature, and somehow be a different nature tomorrow.
- 00:54
- So today he might be faithful, but tomorrow he may not be. We see this in Malachi 3, verse 6, when he says,

- For I the Lord do not change, therefore you,
- 01:06
- O children of Israel, are not consumed. In other words, the children of Israel can rest upon the promises of God, because he doesn't change in his nature.
- 01:15
- The promises that he makes to his children, he will complete them, because his nature doesn't become something different over time.
- 01:23
- This is important to see, that God is completely and totally incapable of change.
