- Hello and welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word.
- 00:15
- This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we are looking at Psalm 119 verse 14.
- 00:22
- In verse 14 it says, I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies as much as in all riches.
- 00:30
- Now, what he's saying here is that I rejoice in the testimonies and in the word of God. Because if you remember, this entire
- 00:37
- Psalm, Psalm 119, is the psalmist way of recognizing, appreciating, speaking to the greatness of the word of God.
- 00:47
- And so he's saying here, I rejoice in the way of your testimonies more than over all other riches.
- 00:57
- As much as, or as much as in, he's saying here, as overall.
- 01:05
- So what he's saying here, to put it in a way that would be said more clearly in English here,
- 01:11
- I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies over all other possible things that I could treasure.
- 01:20
- You think of in the New Testament where it talks about treasuring the word of God in our heart and all these different things.
- 01:26
- So that's essentially what the psalmist is saying here. He's saying, I love the word of God. I love God's word so much.
- 01:32
- I love his testimonies, his judgments, so on and so forth, that I treasure it and rejoice in it over any other possible richness or riches or possessions or anything else that could possibly even potentially bring me joy.
- 01:49
- It doesn't even, it pales in comparison to the joy that God's word brings me.
- 01:55
- And that's what's being said here. And so I hope that is the case for you today. I hope that's the case for what you believe about the word of God, how you spend time in it, reading it, studying it, meditating over it, that you truly rejoice, as David did in the way of God's testimonies about who he is, what he has done, what he's doing in your life, how he's changing you, he's transforming you, and that you rejoice in your sanctification over any other possible richness that you come across.
