Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to Fight for Truth. In this video, we're going to talk about biological men competing in women's
00:07
Olympic sports. Recently, there was a huge controversy in the
00:18
Paris 2024 Olympics after a boxing match in the women's division took place. Angela Carini of Italy fought against Iman Khalif of Algeria and had to quit in less than a minute.
00:29
Watch this. There are quite a few problems with what you just saw, but perhaps the most glaring issue is that the
00:35
Algerian fighter Iman Khalif, well, her gender status is under serious scrutiny. But this athlete's father swears that Iman has always been raised as a girl, even from the very earliest of ages.
00:47
In fact, he submitted these pictures as partial evidence. And this has quickly become a huge controversy, with conservatives approaching it from a women's rights perspective and an anti -feminist perspective, and the leftists approaching it from a trans rights perspective.
01:02
And to further complicate the whole situation, no one has been able to say definitively what Iman's hormonal or gender situation actually is, at least not until now.
01:12
Istvan Kovacs is the European vice president of the WBO and former secretary general of the
01:18
International Boxing Association, or IBA, and he himself is a former international champion boxer.
01:25
Here was his official statement, quote, the problem was not with the level of Khalif's testosterone, because that can be adjusted nowadays, but with the result of the gender test, which clearly revealed that the
01:36
Algerian boxer is biologically male. In addition to this, both Iman and another boxer, this one from Taiwan, whose gender status was also called into question, were tested by the
01:47
IBA. In fact, they were both tested twice, once in 2022, and again in 2023, after receiving dozens of complaints from other international coaches and female boxers.
01:59
Both tests demonstrated without a doubt that both of these boxers have XY chromosomes, just like any other male person would.
02:08
Regardless of any other gender or emotional context, biologically, we are talking about Iman.
02:15
But what I'm about to tell you now is perhaps more shocking than what you've heard so far. The WBO allegedly warned the
02:22
Olympic Committee of this individual's gender status, and they were very concerned that this might cause serious bodily harm to biological women, who are at a massive disadvantage.
02:32
And yet somehow the Olympic Committee allowed Iman to compete against these biological women, knowing that this was the case.
02:39
Here's the committee president, Thomas Bach, explaining the decision. Watch this. I can only invite them to come up with a scientific -based new definition of who is a woman, and how can somebody being born, raised, competed, and having a passport as a woman cannot be considered a woman.
03:04
Now I'm no biologist, I'm just a guy with a YouTube channel, but allow me to answer Thomas's complicated question here as best
03:10
I can. The reason that having a certain upbringing and having a certain passport does not make you a woman is because, and listen closely here, none of those things have ever made anyone a woman.
03:23
It's not part of what the definition of a woman actually is. But this video is just one part of the sob story that we're being spoon -fed by the media.
03:32
Here's a video of Iman lamenting at the bullying that's taking place in this situation.
03:38
Watch this. So after all of this, we are getting a lecture about bullying from a biological man who just beat up a biological woman and destroyed her
04:10
Olympic dreams on camera. Does that sound backward to you? Because I'm pretty sure that using an unfair advantage to beat up other people and take away opportunities from them is the textbook definition of bullying.
04:22
But then again, what do I know? I'm not a biologist. And I think all of this has opened up a good conversation that we need to have in the
04:30
Christian community and really just in the world at large. What should Christians think about gender, sports, fairness, etc.?
04:37
You see, given that the Lord created these things, I think we ought to have a desire that they would be used in a way that glorifies him.
04:43
And with that in mind, I have a few observations. First, regardless of this transgender situation, there's a problem that everyone seems to be ignoring.
04:52
And that is that women should not be competing in violent sports in the first place in general.
04:58
Even if they are all biologically female, they just shouldn't be involved in this kind of thing. These are undoubtedly masculine activities, and women are not supposed to be masculine.
05:08
1 Peter 3 talks about the picture of a good biblical wife. Verse 4 says, quote, but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
05:24
So gentleness and quietness of the spirit are precious to God when it comes to feminine behavior.
05:30
And I know that many of you heard that and you hate it. It sounds terrible to you. And I know that our culture especially hates this idea to their very core.
05:38
But we need to ask the question as Christians, do we follow God or do we follow public opinion?
05:44
Do we follow God or do we follow other people's emotions? And if we are to follow God, which is of course what we're supposed to do, what are we supposed to think about passages like this?
05:54
Because we have to deal with them. We can't just brush over them and imagine that they're not God's word. They are. And by the way, none of this is to say that women cannot defend themselves or their children if they need to.
06:04
That is a different matter that has absolutely zero application here. Just to be clear. It is also not to say that women are not allowed to speak across the board unless a man gives them permission to.
06:15
You see, in one of the very next verses, Peter tells the husbands to treat their wives with the utmost honor and with deep understanding.
06:24
Surely this would include them being able to speak so that they could be understood. I'm also not suggesting, by the way, that women cannot be strong.
06:32
The ideal wife in Proverbs 31 is described in verse 17 saying, quote, she dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.
06:41
But with all of these important caveats aside, having a woman beat up other women for sport does not fit with the biblical picture of femininity at all.
06:51
And if you disagree with that as a Christian, I would humbly ask you, please provide biblical evidence for your position.
06:57
Provide biblical patterns that would indicate that women punching each other is a good idea. And on the other side of the equation, the picture of masculinity is one of protecting and honoring women, not entering their competition so that you can more easily beat them up than you can beat up men in the men's league.
07:14
Until we recover a full and complete vision for men and women that is based on God's creation and God's word, we will continue to have these underlying issues.
07:24
Yes, we need to remove men from women's sports, of course, but that's only one symptom of a much larger problem.
07:31
The real solution is a wholehearted return to the goodness and truth of God. So let us pursue these things for His glory.
