Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to the channel where the Bible and critical thinking meet to give you real
00:05
Christian commentary about the things that matter. Thanks so much for watching, let's get into the video. So some of you may have noticed that a large section of my videos were recently deleted or made private just a few days ago.
00:17
This has left some people who support my channel wondering if I'm waffling in my convictions a little bit, and some who do not support the channel wondering if I've finally converted away from that dreadful metaphorical dark side that they think
00:29
I'm in. I can assure you that neither of these is a proper way of viewing the situation. In reality, there are a number of reasons that I decided to delete those videos, and these reasons should neither concern my subscribers nor embolden or encourage those who find my channel intolerable.
00:44
So let me offer you the reasons I deleted those videos, and let me know what you think in the comment section. Number one, the first reason
00:51
I deleted a video was that I was wrong biblically in that video. If you happen to hate my channel, don't break out the champagne just yet, because this particular example only corresponds to a few videos
01:01
I deleted. The one example I remember was my recent video on Kenneth Copeland that a few well -spoken commenters corrected me on.
01:08
In that video, I suggested that Kenneth Copeland is a false prophet on the basis of evidence that did not really prove that point clearly.
01:15
In other words, Kenneth Copeland is a false prophet, don't get me wrong, but I used an overall bad and inconsistent argument to demonstrate that fact.
01:22
And for that, I apologize, and as a result, the video was taken down. Again, I want to be entirely clear that this kind of mistake only happened in this video and maybe a few others over the course of my entire time on this channel.
01:35
I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that I have absolutely no intention of falsely accusing anybody of anything.
01:43
Proverbs 19, 5 says, quote, a false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape, end quote.
01:50
This is not something that God takes lightly, and I pray that he will always help me repent of this kind of sin by his grace.
01:57
Acts 3, 19 says, quote, repent therefore and turn back that your sins may be blotted out, end quote.
02:03
As Christians, we shouldn't be afraid to repent and admit when we're wrong. We should simply repent of any sin we commit and change our behavior in the future.
02:11
So just to recap, many people are probably thinking, oh, Colin deleted those videos because he was sinning in each and every one of them and making false accusations like he always does.
02:19
And again, I will make it very clear that that standard only applied according to my knowledge to a small amount of videos.
02:26
Number two, the second reason I deleted some videos was because they really didn't fit the focus of my channel as well as I would like.
02:33
This kind of video included my videos on Justin Bieber selling weed or my video on the Ravi Zacharias situation.
02:39
None of these videos were sinful or wrong in my estimation whatsoever. These are things that people have a right to have biblical opinions on and that they even have a right to share those opinions with others.
02:48
But I want to make my main focus on this channel refuting false teaching rather than cultural commentary.
02:55
Don't get me wrong. I don't think that cultural commentary is sinful or bad at all and I will most certainly make some videos like that at times in the future, but that will probably be less of what
03:05
I do unless I were to change my mind and the direction of my channel moving forward, which I don't anticipate doing.
03:11
Number three, the third reason I deleted a particular video was that the majority of the arguments I used in that video were accurate, but some were not as strong or well -spoken as I would like.
03:21
An example of this would be my video on false doctrine in Elevation Music. In that video, I didn't really like my second example out of the three that I offered of false doctrine in their music because I didn't really believe that the example was very strong.
03:34
Ultimately, while the video proved my overall point, that individual argument did not sufficiently prove what it was supposed to prove and therefore
03:41
I took down the video to prevent confusion. Number four, the fourth reason I took a video down was that the production quality of that video was altogether poor.
03:50
This goes without saying. Obviously, I want to create videos that are strong and well -crafted from a visual point of view, but many of my older videos are just a bit too poorly made for me to leave them up.
04:00
I'm not saying that any other YouTuber has to take down their older videos that aren't as well -made, but that's what
04:05
I chose to do personally for some of them. Number five, this point mostly applies to small comments
04:11
I made rather than to full -blown videos. There were a few small sections of videos that I clipped out because I didn't think the tone in a particular comment was a good choice, and I even deleted some entire videos because of this, but not very many.
04:23
Again, some people who really don't like my channel will want to break out the champagne and say, this is awesome,
04:28
Colin is finally admitting that he has a harsh and hurtful, unbiblical tone, this is what we've been saying all along, and he finally agrees with us.
04:36
Slow down there, cowboy, that's not what I said. What I said was that there are a few examples of isolated comments that I believed carried the wrong tone in my own opinion, and I think you would be hard -pressed to find a
04:48
Christian person, especially a Christian YouTuber, who wouldn't fess up to at least sometimes going a bit too far in their speech or their conduct.
04:56
I don't say that to excuse myself, I mean the repentance is evident here, I literally deleted the videos.
05:01
So I don't say that other people have done this in the past as an excuse for myself, rather, I say it as just a reminder to put these things in perspective and to have honest weights and honest measures here.
05:12
My point is that the comments I made were not necessarily objectively unbiblical or objectively hurtful and wrong, rather they were comments that I personally didn't think gave off the right tone as a matter of personal opinion.
05:24
I'm not saying that every harsh comment I've ever offered is unbiblical at all, in fact many of them were totally necessary and completely biblical.
05:31
But there were a few that I didn't want to remain on my channel long -term as a matter of personal preference, and those of which
05:37
I have been made aware have been deleted. So in conclusion, I recently did delete somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 videos, but the grand majority of those videos were deleted because they were either old or irrelevant.
05:48
Only a tiny portion of them were deleted because they misrepresented others or misrepresented my own attitude or tone.
05:55
So thank you all for supporting me and for supporting the channel, I just wanted to let you know what's going on. I always want to do right by you, and most importantly, to do right by the
06:03
Lord. I ask that you would continuously pray for me as I seek to accomplish this task, and I pray that you would look forward to many more videos that are to come.
