What is GotQuestions.org? | An introduction to Got Questions Ministries

We launched GotQuestions .org in February of 2002 to provide a place online where people could come and ask any questions they have about the

Bible, anything that's spiritually related. And over the years we've developed a team of volunteers who help us answer all the questions we receive.

So far in our history, we've answered nearly 600 ,000 questions and we have over 250 volunteer writers who help us answer all the questions.

And another one of the powerful things about the Internet is the anonymity of it all. People can come and ask us questions that maybe they've been too embarrassed to ask a friend or a pastor.

We don't know them, they don't know us. We provide them with a biblically based answer to help them with the issue that they're dealing with.

And I have to tell you, there's no more effective online outreach in the world. Last month alone, 10 million unique visitors reached, thousands of people giving their life to Christ, and it's because of an

Internet outreach that has become so effective. Everyone has questions. Whether it's issues that they're dealing with due to things that they've done, whether it's struggles that they have from stuff that's been done to them, whether it's temptations, trials, whatever, everyone has questions.

And unfortunately, very few people are going to churches to find answers to their questions. Where are they going? They're going online.

They go to Google. They search for a topic. How can I receive forgiveness from God? How can I know for sure

I go to heaven when I die? How can I overcome this particular temptation in my life? We want to be there with a biblically based answer to whatever question they have, because ultimately, if they're not getting the truth from God, they're not truly receiving the answer to their question.

If the answers, the biblically related answers are there in the top of the search engines, we engage these people and we bring them into a flow of discussion, of question and answer and good

Bible related answers. How does it work? You type in a question. Does God exist?

Is the Bible true? And then they get into an article, which then brings them into a flow, into the front door of GotQuestions .org.

There are three primary ways that people use GotQuestions .org. First is for their own personal study.

They're studying the Bible. They don't really understand what a verse means. So they go to GotQuestions .org and search for an answer that way.

Secondly, a lot of people use it for a Bible study or even sermon preparation. They're preaching or teaching on a certain passage and they want to be able to communicate it accurately.

So they come to GotQuestions .org with that. The third way, when people ask them questions, whether it's a critic or a skeptic of the

Bible or whether it's just a friend who has a really tough question, they come to GotQuestions .org to find a good explanation for not only how can they understand that for themselves, but how can they communicate that answer to someone else.

GotQuestions is currently in 165 languages in search engines all around the world in the native tongues, in the native languages of these people who are also searching for hope, searching for answers in the

Bible. In recent months, 60 % of our traffic comes from outside the United States. Any language, anywhere in the world where people are searching online for biblically based answers, we want to be there with answers from the

Bible. So GotQuestions .org has stayed up with technology. You know, today, 60 % of all traffic to GotQuestions .org

comes through these types of devices, smartphones around the world. They're increasing daily basis.

GotQuestions .org is keeping up. It takes a lot of expertise to stay up with the programming, the search engines on the mobile platforms so that you're staying responsive to the market out there.

People have Bible questions on the run as much as they have Bible questions on their desktops.

Not only is GotQuestions .org staying up with their mobile version, but they've also moved into apps, the iOS app, the

Android app around the world. These are becoming more and more popular. Again, having a go -to app to see thousands of different answers to your

Bible questions. There was 120 ,000 users last month in the apps alone. GotQuestions .org

is again looking to expand these outreaches because you need to do them in multiple languages. Not only are you out there in English with your iOS and Android apps, not only are you out there in English with your mobile versions of your websites, but you need to translate these different platforms into multiple languages, video answers through all these growing platforms like YouTube.

This is the place to be. So in addition to GotQuestions .org, we have several other sites in our network.

First, there's 412Teens .org. It's a site where we take the answers that are on GotQuestions .org, but explain them in a way that would be more applicable to teenagers.

We also have GQKids .org. It's based around the theme of a Christian kids camp where kids come to their camp counselor and ask him questions.

Next, we have CompellingTruths .org. It's a site that's very similar to GotQuestions, but it's a little more focused on apologetics and worldview.

And last, we have BibleRef .com. Our goal with this site is to provide an explanation of every verse in the

Bible. So it's a verse -by -verse commentary. We want people, any time they go to a search engine and search for a

Bible verse, we provide them with an explanation of what that individual Bible verse means, but also what it means in the overall context.

So if you're looking for a place to really invest your kingdom dollars, to really grow with a ministry that's absolutely effective for the next 10, 20 years, it's

GotQuestions .org. There's really no more effective place to partner and to see these messages translated into multiple languages, teams built in multiple places around the world.
