Does God Ever Intervene?
Many people say God intervenes in our lives, but does He? Does God intervene? We will look at this question from Colossians 1:17 and Hebrews 1:3.

- Hello dear ones, my name is Justin Peters. I want to thank you for watching this video and I hope that you and your family are doing well today.
- 00:07
- This is the second installment of a new series that I have begun on my YouTube channel of a devotional nature.
- 00:14
- I'm going to start doing these videos at least two a week or so, maybe three depending on how things go and what
- 00:22
- I've got going on at the time, travel schedule, things like that. I'm going to try to get at least two done a week.
- 00:28
- The first one I dropped a few days ago and was received very, very well. Many of you wrote some very encouraging comments under the video.
- 00:36
- Of course, I can't respond to all of them, but I thank you very much for that. There were a few naysayers, but that's to be expected.
- 00:43
- It seems like the vast majority of you were very appreciative and encouraged by this. I hope that this will indeed be an encouraging series to you.
- 00:53
- This is our second installment. What are we going to talk about today? Today we're going to talk about how
- 00:59
- God is always working. Have you ever heard someone say something like this?
- 01:07
- Well, God really intervened in that situation, or we really need to pray that the
- 01:13
- Lord will intervene for us in this situation. I know what people mean by that when they say that we really need
- 01:22
- God to intervene, but that's not the picture that the Bible portrays.
- 01:28
- To suggest that God needs to intervene is to suggest that most of the time
- 01:34
- God is up in heaven, sitting on His throne, just kind of twiddling His anthropomorphic thumbs without a whole lot to do.
- 01:41
- But God looks down and He gazes upon the earth, and He sees a situation and He says, Oh, I really need to reach down and intervene here.
- 01:50
- I need to kind of get things back in line there because they're getting a little out of hand. So I'm going to reach down and I'm going to intervene.
- 01:58
- Well, God does not intervene. I want us to look at a couple of verses of Scripture.
- 02:04
- Let's go first to Colossians 1, verse 17. Colossians 1, verse 17 says,
- 02:11
- He, Christ, is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
- 02:19
- Let's look at Hebrews 1, verse 3. And He, Christ, is the radiance of His glory in the exact representation of His nature and upholds all things by the word of His power.
- 02:34
- So from these two verses of Scripture, we see a number of things. We see, one, that Christ is co -eternal with the
- 02:42
- Father, pre -existent, that He is not a created being. In fact, He is the Creator. And as the
- 02:48
- Creator, in Christ, all things are being held together, and He is upholding all things by the word of His power.
- 02:59
- Right now, deep in some Amazon rainforest, there's a little bird sitting on a branch of a tree, and he is singing and chirping to the glory of God, even though there's not a human around him for many miles to hear this little bird sing and chirp.
- 03:17
- Why is this little bird that nobody can see or hear singing and chirping? Well, he's doing it because in Christ, all things are being held together, and He is upholding all things by the word of His power, and all these things
- 03:32
- He does for His own glory. Right now, your body and my body are doing things, millions of things, of which we are blissfully unaware.
- 03:46
- Right now, every cell in our body is doing something. There are mitochondria that are making energy, and there's
- 03:54
- DNA that is replicating, and cells are dividing, and blood is pumping, and our white blood cells are fighting off infection.
- 04:04
- Our bodies are doing millions of things right now. Synapses are firing. Our bodies are doing all of these things, even though we have no conscious control over them, and we're not even aware of them.
- 04:17
- Right now, you could go out into some far -flung galaxy, millions if not billions of light years away, and find some star in one of the edge of a spiral arm of some galaxy billions of light years away, and you could bore into the center of that star and find a single molecule of hydrogen, or oxygen, or helium, and that single molecule is being held in its proper place right now by the constant exertion of the power of God.
- 05:03
- In Him, all things hold together. Every electron of every atom is spinning around in its tiny little orbit.
- 05:14
- Why? Because God is upholding all things by the word of His power right now. That is a stunning thought.
- 05:22
- You see, the God of the Bible does not hold to this deistic view of God.
- 05:32
- Yes, God may have created everything, and He created it, and He kind of got everything going, but then
- 05:37
- He just stepped back. No, I am so confident in the constant power of God that I would posit this to you, that if God were to ever stop working, even for a split second, if God were to ever stop working, do you know what would happen?
- 05:57
- The entire universe would vaporize. Every atom in all of the universe would vaporize.
- 06:06
- You would vaporize. I would vaporize. Every star system, every galaxy would just completely vanish.
- 06:12
- Why? Because the only reason these things exist, the only reason that you exist and I exist, is because God is upholding all things by the word of His power.
- 06:25
- And in Him, in Christ, all things hold together. So there is never a time, dear one, in which
- 06:32
- God is not working. No matter what it is that you face in your life, no matter what trial you are going through, we talked about trials in the first video
- 06:42
- I did, no matter what trial you are going through, no matter what you face, no matter how bleak the circumstances may seem, no matter how hopeless it may seem, know that God does not sleep,
- 06:57
- He does not slumber. Not only does He not sleep or slumber, but He is actively working right now, constantly, in your life, in my life, working out all things together for the good, ultimately for His glory.
- 07:16
- So God is always working, dear ones, always working. And that is a great comfort to me, and I hope that it is to you as well.
- 07:24
- So thank you very much, dear ones, for watching. I hope that this has been an encouragement to you. And until our next time together, may the grace of our
- 07:31
- Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of His Holy Spirit be with you all.
