Overall it was good. I've been to A couple couple conferences on a couple hosted by the

Bible college that I went to and then I went to the That one the the banner of truth conference

In in Pennsylvania the East Coast ministers conference and that that was good and I really enjoyed the free books because they had they had a

My damaged book room they say everybody go in there and get five So you get five bucks, so it was good and they had all sorts of other stuff.

It was good but I'll tell you what leaving out of the

The laborers conference was the most refreshed. I'd ever felt leaving out of a conference

I Don't know what it is. A lot of times the conferences that are so action -packed There's so much going on that you end up leaving out of there

You know, you're edified. You're you're full, but you're you're tired right,

Not because we didn't do anything, but because I don't know why it was just it was it was a good time

It was good stuff left out full, you know hearing lots of good preaching lots of convicting messages things to think about things that apply and Then just refreshed

I Felt the same way It's it's a little overwhelming for me

Kind of I want I'm wanting to make sure things Are running smoothly running well, everything is going going well and and I would

Kelly and I were trying to make sure the Everything got videoed and we had some hiccups with with the video and audio at the beginning

But but the Lord saw fit to to see us through those things and we got We got everything videoed.

He got good quality audio. So we're thankful to the Lord for that and Some some of the other guys made a comment about the the conference not being overwhelming but being more relaxed and you know,

I want to say this publicly publicly to one of the things that I failed to mention to the The the folks at Reformation Baptist Church was you know, they were great they were so kind especially when it come to being flexible, we had some hiccups with a schedule and Lunch cumbersome and which is a good thing we we had opportunity to have a conversation with one another and we want to engage one another there was tons of conversation happening and so That Pushed our time back a little bit or forward but it but it was

It kind of did but it kind of didn't Day two we we finished up early went to lunch

I had some hiccups at lunch still got back and and I think I finished my sermon before I was supposed to start it

Yeah It'll work out it all worked out and and so that's something that I want to keep in mind for next year when we when we plan and organize the the schedule the the speaking arrangements

What can we do so that it's not it's not overbearing overwhelming for the speakers for?

Those in attendance, how can we make it a joyful and restful experience? I wanted to I especially wanted to be a restful experience for for the speakers for you guys who are traveling

I mean you guys who traveled really traveled and Some of you guys that traveled

Had other issues going on even at the conference that that just could have you know, it could have bummed them out

Tremendously and made things negative, but there was such a sweet spirit such trust in the

Lord and positive spirit and kindness From everyone that We were able to look over those those few negative things and And have a really really great time with one another and our fellowship

Outside of the conference our time that we were able to spend together Was wonderful.

No, we don't we don't get to do that throughout the year You know, we only get to see each other just like you see us.

We only see each other virtually throughout the year so that this one time of year is special for us because we get to see each other face -to -face and and spend some some time together and it was it was really good and It shouldn't it shouldn't surprise us but there's there's something different when you are people people you don't even know people that you you know, really and You don't you don't know them.

Well you You've only known them for a short period of time These people are not people that you you grew up with I say all that to say we shouldn't be surprised, but it's such a

Wonderful blessing that the Lord gives us when we come together like that some of us were we're living and staying together in the same house and We we got a long great conversation we we loved on one another and Yeah The the

Lord does that? Yep, when families couples are are together for any length of time and there's there's

No friction. No conflict the the Lord Leads us to treat each other like the brothers and sisters that we are.

Mm -hmm such a one. It's a wonderful experience Also really neat to know that that the the numbers up there at the top of our screen anyway

I don't know if anybody else can see it Probably not that says that there's like four or five people watching to know that those are actually real people that will talk to you

I thought they were just putting stuff up there make us feel good about ourselves, but Apparently people who are actually actually watching us it's good that's another thing that come out at the conference when

Pastor Claude he he gave the congregation opportunity at the end of the conference to speak to us and And you had members of his congregation that were saying hey, we watch you guys

Yeah, we we like what you're doing We watch you guys and we appreciate you guys and to to put like you said to put faces with those numbers

Yeah, it's such it was such a blessing that the

Lord is a bit of motivation knowing that you were able to To bless real folks that you're actually, you know

Yes That was so appropriate that was such a blessing to hear that I didn't write it so it was in the

Lord brought to you or or something that you had come across there the conference or had you planned? To use that I didn't plan to use it until like lunch

Like maybe like 30 minutes 45 minute or hour or so before hour and a half before for the sermon

Yeah, I didn't plan on using that at all But it gave when we at least the the

Atlantic Presbytery of the RPC and a when we gather together We we end our time together with that song

You know and it hasn't always been No pleasant At presbytery meetings, there's sometimes some hard things that have to go on no difficult conversations or whatnot

But we try to remind remind ourselves that you know, why are we here?

What are we here for we're here because God has called us together to live in unity with him and with one another

Holy Spirit So we went over a different, you know aspects of the Holy Spirit, you know reminding ourselves that the

Holy Spirit is a person of the Trinity Evangelism salvation the church, you know different works and unity and Bible understanding the

Bible How's the Holy Spirit function in the life of the church? And what how can we relate to him?

I don't necessarily remember Almost anything Anyone said but what

I do remember is the overall thrust of the conference That that Convicted me that I need to rely upon the person and work of the

Holy Spirit Mm -hmm Actively because it's easy to rely upon the person work of the

Holy Spirit passively Here's what I mean by that by saying, you know, I know that God's working all things out for my good.

I know that he's He's doing this that or the other thing I know that he's working in my sanctification and I know that he's gifted me for this or that but but to actually rely upon his power for For what it is that you need to do in the

Christian life to pray constantly God send your spirit so I can be free from this sin that I can be freed from temptation that I can

Give a good gospel witness at this point in In the week that I can know preach a good message this

Sunday or I can listen to a message Now give me the the focus to be able to pray for my church and the people around me and and just to actively

Trust in the power of the Holy Spirit instead of just remembering that he's there and then kind of just going on about your business like he's not

To actively trust in the Lord and that was really the thrust of each person's message

Trust in the Lord actively by remembering him trust in the Lord actively by relying upon the power of the

Holy Spirit for evangelism and Not your own giftings, you know, even though your own giftings are good

Because they come from the Lord, you know Actively rely on the power of the

Holy Spirit and that that's really what I took away from the conference as a whole You know each of the sermons

Yes, I don't know. It's a good thing to take away. I think Well, and my goal is to go back and listen to each one of them again, yeah, absolutely

I really want to go back and listen to each one and and On my own so that I can digest them better.

I can listen to them better where I'm not trying to concentrate on other things and I really want to get all the details because they were so good and I I was able to understand from the very first sermon that Dan I feel like I feel like what we had at the conference was a legit actual demonstration from the

Holy Spirit of what a Healing service Directed by the

Holy Spirit looks like not not a fake or simulated

Healing service that you may see or that you may have heard of but a legit directed healing service

By the Holy Spirit and and that started with the first sermon for me because what did we have we had the the preached word and We we had it handled correctly, we had it how handled rightly and we submitted to that knowledge and Repented where there was conviction and We just let the

Holy Spirit Do his work we didn't try to manipulate him. We didn't try to Invite him, you know to come and and do a work we were obedient to him.

We we preached his word and we exalted Christ and Just yielded to him to do to do his work that's where the

The refreshment come from that that healing spiritual Emotion in the ordinary means of grace

Yes Yes, exactly. Um Yeah, and we you know, we we didn't have the

Lord's Supper baptism But which we shouldn't have we were not a church. We we weren't having a church service but but we were pre we were praying we were preaching the word and we were

Singing beautiful songs. Thank you to Eden Chapel who let us in some beautiful music

I would absolutely love to I would appreciate that a lot But it was it was a beautiful thing to to just step back and let the

Holy Spirit Do what he wanted to do. Mm -hmm And so I wouldn't

I wouldn't worry. What did the what did you take away from the conference? What was your main overall?

Take away from the conference that that was pretty pretty much a summary of what

I What I come away with I come away with that refreshing. I like I said from the very first sermon

I was coming away from Healing I felt like from the Holy Spirit because I was going into the conference with Which which is

I'm I'm not the only one who? suffers and and deals with with these things, but I was going into the conference with some anxiety with some

You know negative negative feelings negative thoughts But Just to hear his word and and let the

Holy Spirit use his word to convict me and To bring healing to me

That that was a huge takeaway from the conference It wasn't about any

Any one person it wasn't about any Christian celebrity

It wasn't about us being of complete like -mindedness like what we call an echo chamber where we're we can just amen one another all weekend long and and build each other up and and build up our

Our common theology it wasn't about that. It was about hearing the word and letting the

Holy Spirit have his way and what he wanted to do in our hearts and And I believe that's what happened and that was the takeaway for me

From the conference and good stuff. And again, I can't say enough about ref

Ramada Baptist Church They were so encouraging and and they did so many

They had they had already been preparing for us weeks weeks months in advance.

They had been praying for us They've been preparing the church for us. They they set up In their in their fellowship area

You know snacks and coffee not just for the speakers but for the attendees and so they they did so many wonderful things to make the conference a success and we we praise the

Lord for ref Ramada Baptist Church and Pastor Claude and in April and and all the guys there and Jeremy who who ran the sound just so thankful for those guys and want to mention

Imago Dei ministry who was there and they they are They are faithfully fighting the cause against abortion and and abolition and we had a diaper drop there and they received

I know that they they definitely had at least one mother in mind that that was going to receive those diapers and receive help because she had she had chosen the life for her child and And so we what's up haps.

How you doing, brother? We know specifically that they had in mind at least one mother but we were glad and we were happy that we could do that diaper drive for Imago Dei and And help out that ministry help out mothers who who choose life who who are in need thankful to brother

Michael Schultz who last -minute voluntarily stepped in to to fill in for one of our brothers that couldn't come and He spoke on the unity of the

Spirit which was another one that I look forward to going back and listening to So many good things have been said about his sermon and and a spirit empowered unity that we should look for and have

Very thankful for him and the work that he's doing at his church the work that he's doing at Forge Theological Seminary, which

Take up that cross who who wants to live their life dying to their own desires and their needs or or wants

Who in their flesh wants to live that way and then victory and death? Those things sound so ox oxymoronic

That they do not go together from a worldly perspective

But in Christianity the seat the seed must die so that there can be life and so the diving into these concepts and Taking up our cross daily following Christ and finding victory in death.

And we've talked about this before on the podcast. What does it mean to be reformed? Part of being reformed is holding to covenant theology and so as As the screen says one of us is a

Baptist and one of us is a Presbyterian and and we both claim Covenantal theology, but what does that mean from a

Baptist perspective? What does that mean from a Presbyterian perspective? But ultimately, I mean

I want to know those things but ultimately what I want to know is

Is what we have in common where we find common ground and And looking at those small details of where we find common ground there's something within me that that really feels like Getting down to those small details of things that we have in common can can really help us

So we we believe that the Lord is The the kingdom is is here

I mean we may have to you know, at some point we're going to get rid of Presbyterian Baptist Other denominational names that that's eventually going to happen because Christ is going to help us in our theological understanding and bring true unity in In theology and and right now we're just mere humans mere mortals

Trying to figure this out and and we want to do that with humility Being led by the

What does it mean for God to be infinite? You know, what does that mean? You know, how many people have fought against that?

And then you know, what does that mean for us in our day -to -day lives like it's incredible just to look at God in a

In a way like that and to to kind of understand because I'll be honest with you once you get through with the attributes of God Your whole theology is

Shifted it's an understanding who your God is and it's it's it's shifted for the better Right.

Okay to me What I'm saying in the text is that we're not to make a graven image for the purpose of worship and Here's where the the disagreement comes in between believers

That's one understanding the second another understanding is that it's a two -part commandment number one don't make it number two don't use it in worship

The point and the goal of coming to christ is christ himself. Those things are just The benefits and the blessings of what he gives to us because we know him and we can only know him if we

If he shines as second corinthians 4 tells us it is if he if god shines the light in our hearts and christ removes the veil

From our eyes so that we can see him face to face and see his beauty we will

Tremble with repentance over our sin And the spirit will lead us to put our trust and faith in him for our salvation

And then all those things that we talked about are are just fruit of knowing him and we would want you and it's the whole reason why we we live and breathe is to know him and for others to come to know him as we do so We would plea with you if you do not know christ as your lord and savior you would repent of your sins and put your faith
