Welcome to another installment of Fighting for the Faith. My name is Chris Roseborough. I am your servant in Jesus Christ and this is the channel that compares what people are saying in the name of God to the
00:25
Word of God. So prosperity preachers, you know guys like David Crank and others,
00:32
Keith Moore, Ken Copeland, Benny Hinn, you start to get the idea here. They have an obsession with preaching about wealth.
00:43
It becomes a little bit of a Ponzi scheme but what we're gonna do, we're gonna listen to the first eight -ish minutes of a sermon delivered by Keith Kraft and in those eight -ish minutes he is going to twist no less than five different scriptures and I mean twist them badly.
01:02
All of this to kind of prove the idea that God wants to bless you, you know, with money so that you can be a blessing.
01:11
I mean doesn't that sound so great? But the issue is is that they don't back it up biblically.
01:20
We'll talk about that. So let's do this. Let's whirl up the desktop and let's, you know, let's do this.
01:28
Let's pull up our our web browser and before we get into Keith, David Crank, sorry not
01:35
Keith Kraft, David Crank and How to Unlock Your Blessing is the name of the sermon, I want to teach you a basic concept.
01:44
So during the time of the Reformation, the reformers were people who believed in sola scriptura, that the scripture alone is our authority and so they had a
01:55
Latin phrase that they use and the Latin phrase went something like this, quad non est biblicum non est theologicum and you sit there and go, well what does it mean?
02:04
Well it means this, what is not in the Bible is not theological. So we're not going to discuss the theological implications, shall we, of the perpetual virginity of Mary because the
02:19
Bible doesn't say anywhere that she was perpetually a virgin. So if it's not in the
02:24
Bible, it's not theological, it's not theology, won't show up properly in, it shouldn't show up properly in Christian dogmatics and theological texts and statements and things like this.
02:36
If it's not in the Bible, not in the Bible, biblical, it's not in the Bible, it's not theology.
02:43
Well in the time of apostasy that we find ourselves in, we have to go a little bit even more basic than that.
02:50
I know it sounds crazy but alas we must do this, so I've added my own
02:57
Latin phrase now to the theological lexicon and boy is this just really not even profound.
03:10
Are you ready? Here we go. Quad non est biblicum non est biblicum, which means what's not in the
03:17
Bible is not biblical. Sit there and go, whoa
03:23
Rose bro, wow, that's just so profound, it's so deep, it's unfathomable.
03:32
I know, I know, but here's the thing, this is gonna apply today and I'm gonna keep this handy for future installments of Fighting for the
03:42
Faith because as I'm doing preparation for new episodes coming up, I'm finding this is like a common theme now, okay?
03:50
What is not in the Bible and the Bible is not biblical. I know it seems kind of basic but if it's not said or taught in the
03:59
Bible, it's not a biblical doctrine. It's kind of basic, so quad non est biblicum non est biblicum.
04:05
If it's not in the Bible, it's not biblical. Just keep that in mind. So here is the beginning portion of this sermon by David Crank on how to unlock your blessing and keep this idea in mind.
04:21
What's not in the Bible is not biblical because it's gonna apply. Here we go.
04:28
I want to talk a little bit today about blessing and in particular...
04:38
Okay, wow, oh to have that much money to buy one of those video monitor walls.
04:46
Even if we had the money at Kongsvinger, we would never spend it on such a thing. Note the graphic, this way to your blessing.
04:56
Do you really think that is what Christianity is about, is about blessings, financial blessings and things like this?
05:05
Talk about scratching itching ears. So let me just do this. I'm going to grab a
05:12
New Testament tab here. We're gonna go again to 2nd Timothy chapter 4.
05:18
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who's the judge the living and the dead and by his appearing, preach the word.
05:25
You know, quad non est biblicum non est biblicum. Preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke and exhort with complete patience and teaching.
05:35
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching. Nope, they don't do that much anymore.
05:41
But having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions and they will turn away from listening to the truth, uh -huh, and they will wander off into myths.
05:54
And I would note this way to your blessing. Oh, talk about scratching itching ears. Oh man,
06:00
I just, it's a great visual example of exactly what the Apostle Paul prophesied 2 ,000 years ago would be coming and is now here.
06:11
I kind of had saying it because so many people don't like to talk about this. They don't like to talk about God blessing his people with money.
06:20
Most preachers are. There is a biblical way to talk about money and we will use biblical passages to do so,
06:27
Keith, not Keith, why am I doing that? David, David Crank, I keep wanting to say he's
06:34
Keith Craft, he's not, he's David Crank. Remember, quod non es biblicum, non es biblicum. If it's not in the
06:39
Bible, it's not biblical. So we'll talk about what the Bible says about money. We will not do an exhaustive look at it, but we'll look at some salient passages that help us rightly understand what, how
06:50
Christians are to view money. They're afraid to talk about money. They're always like, oh my gosh, I don't want people to think that God wants them blessed.
06:58
Well, I'm just. That is what we call a straw man. Okay, have you heard of the straw man fallacy?
07:04
In fact, let me do this. I'm gonna come over here and if we just Google straw man fallacy, all right, straw man fallacy is a type of informal logical fallacy that occurs when somebody refutes an argument that's different from the one being discussed without acknowledging the difference.
07:22
So I don't know any pastors that are sitting there going, well, I don't want people to think that God wants to bless them.
07:32
That's a total straw man argument. And I would note prosperity folks like David Crank, finally got it right, he's not interested in actually arguing against what real pastors who wield the
07:50
Word of God correctly actually say. So about God blessing his people with money.
07:57
Most preachers are afraid to talk about money. They're always like, oh my gosh, I don't want people to think that God wants. I don't know anyone who's afraid to talk about money.
08:04
I have biblical texts to talk about money. To bless. Well, I'm just kind of the opposite of that in the sense that I want you to know that we are from a different kingdom where our father is the king and he's gonna meet all of your needs according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
08:19
Hmm, that sounds like a twisting of a biblical text, but since he didn't reference it, we'll kind of let that one slide, but that should give you an idea of what's coming as we develop this sermon a little bit.
08:31
So I don't hedge at all talking about money because God wants the money to get in the right people's hands.
08:38
All right, God wants the money to get in the right people's hands. Do you want to do a
08:45
Google search? Okay, who are the richest people in the world?
08:53
Okay, richest people. Billionaires list. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnold, Mark Zuckerberg, hmm,
09:04
Bill Gates, Warren Buffett. How about George Soros? If God wants, how did he put it here?
09:13
God wants to get the money, the money get the money get in the right people's hands. Well, if you look at the wealthiest people on the planet,
09:21
God apparently seems to be failing. He's not capable of getting the money into the right people's hands because all the bazillionaires, there's a notable list of them, are not very
09:34
Christian. They seem kind to be kind of anti -christian and stuff. So if God, how did he put this?
09:41
Let me back this up. All talking about money because God wants the money to get in the right people's hands.
09:47
God wants the money to get in the right people's hands. Quad non es biblicum non es biblicum.
09:53
Do you have biblical text that says God wants the money to get into the right people's hands?
10:00
You have a Bible verse that says that? And how do we explain how the richest people in the world kind of reads as a list of who's who against Christianity?
10:12
I mean, have you heard of Klaus Schwab? I'm just saying, okay?
10:19
This doesn't seem to pan out either biblically or in line with reality because if God wants the money to get in the right people's hands, well,
10:28
God seems to be impotent. Hi, this is the
10:33
Holy Spirit and I want the money to get in the right people's hands but oh well I keep putting it in the wrong people's hands by accident.
10:40
I meant to bless you and stuff but, you know, hmm. We continue.
10:47
And to put a little context if you're new here this weekend, I grew up super poor. In fact, we couldn't even afford the OR. We just grew up poor and didn't have money, living in a trailer.
10:58
My dad would be praying down by the river over bologna that we did not have. How many of y 'all know if you're pretending to eat something, you definitely got a poverty mindset if you're pretending it's bologna.
11:07
If we're pretending, let's put a ribeye up on that steak right now, right? But we can have this mentality of thinking that God doesn't want us blessed and the enemy...
11:16
Again, straw man fallacy. I don't know anybody that believes that God doesn't want us blessed.
11:22
The question is, what does he want to bless us with? First of all, let's establish that here in Florida. How many of y 'all know there really is a devil?
11:28
Raise your hand if you really believe that. If you didn't believe that, you're like, I don't... Yeah, I believe there's a devil. For real. Believe in the devil.
11:33
The devil told you that, stupid. Okay, so there is a devil, okay? And the devil comes to do what? To steal, to kill, and to destroy.
11:40
But Jesus said, wait a minute. All right, now this is the beginnings of his first Bible twist.
11:45
We'll unpack this here. So the devil wants to steal, to kill, and destroy, but he continues.
11:51
I have come that you might have life and heaven more abundantly. Mmm, John 10 10. What if I told you that if we were to check the three rules for sound biblical exegesis, context, context, and context,
12:07
John 10 does not say that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Nope.
12:15
Not at all. So let's do this. We'll go to John chapter 10. I would note that the context for John chapter 10 begins in chapter 9 with the fellow who was born blind.
12:28
Now, I'm not gonna read the entire story, but it is one of the best stories regarding Christ.
12:34
So here's kind of the setup here. As Jesus passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him,
12:41
Rabbi, who sinned? This man or his parents? And he was born blind. Here, the disciples are, well, verbalizing the false doctrine of the
12:52
Pharisees. They were the ones who taught that, you know, that sin and consequences kind of work like a pool table with a white cue ball and balls, and, you know, you hit the ball and something drops into the pocket, you know.
13:06
So somebody sinned. That resulted in this person being born blind. Jesus doesn't buy into the false doctrine of the
13:13
Pharisees at all. And so Jesus answered, it was not that this man sinned or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in his life.
13:22
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
13:28
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. So Jesus then did this. He spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the man's eyes, and then sent him to wash in the pool of Siloam.
13:42
And he went, and he washed, and he came back seeing. A man who was born blind. And the people couldn't believe what was going on here, so they brought him to the
13:52
Pharisees, verse 13 says. And, of course, the plot thickens.
13:57
It was a Sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes, so the Pharisees again asked him how he had received his sight.
14:04
Hmm, who made it so you can see? Right? And so he said to them, well,
14:10
Jesus, he put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see. And some of the Pharisees said, well, this man is not from God, for he does not keep the
14:18
Sabbath. No, Jesus keeps the Sabbath. Jesus just refused to keep the rules written by the Pharisees, which were not biblical.
14:25
They were additions to the Scripture, right? Others said, well, how can a man who's a sinner do such signs?
14:31
And so there was division. And so they said to the blind man, what do you say about him since he's opened your eyes?
14:37
And he said, well, he's a prophet. So they didn't believe him, so they asked his parents to come. They asked his parents, is it true this guy was born blind?
14:43
Yes, we are his parents. He was born blind, but how he sees, we don't know. Ask him, he's of age. And his parents completely chickened out because the
14:51
Pharisees had already said, if anyone confesses that Jesus is the Messiah, he would be excommunicated, kicked out of the synagogue.
14:59
So the second time they called the man who'd been blind and said to him, give glory to God, we know this man's a sinner.
15:04
Jesus is no sinner, right? So the fellow who did nothing wrong, you know, except for receive his sight from Jesus, okay, he says, well,
15:16
I don't know whether he's a sinner, but one thing I do know, I was blind and now I see.
15:22
So they said, what did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? And he answered them, I've told you already.
15:27
You wouldn't listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples? Zing! And so the
15:36
Pharisees are not happy with this. So they said, you are his disciple. We are disciples of Moses.
15:41
So we know that God has spoken to Moses, but as for this man, we don't know where he comes from. And so the man who was born blind said, well, this is an amazing thing.
15:50
You don't know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will,
15:56
God listens to him. Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind.
16:05
If this man were not from God, he could do nothing. So they answered him, you were born in utter sin and you would teach us.
16:16
So they cast him out. Excommunicato for you. Wow, what a day for this guy, right?
16:23
Now, of course, with his own eyes, he hasn't seen Jesus yet. Neither have you. Neither have
16:29
I. Keep this in mind, Jesus has opened our eyes, yet we haven't seen him. Kind of an interesting thing.
16:34
So Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him, he said, do you believe in the Son of Man? And he answered, well, who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?
16:43
And Jesus answered him, you've seen him, it is he who's speaking to you. And the fellow who was born blind and now sees said,
16:49
Lord, I believe. And he worshipped Jesus. Wow, that's a big deal. And so Jesus said, for judgment
16:56
I came into this world that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.
17:01
And some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and they said to him, are we also blind?
17:09
Yeah, actually. Glad you're starting to catch on, right? Jesus said to them, if you were blind, you would have no guilt.
17:18
And here he takes their theology, and he just flushes it down the toilet for the turd that it is.
17:28
And it says, but now that you say we see, your guilt remains. And so he takes their theology and just bashes it, right?
17:36
And then Jesus continues, note, there is no break here in the narrative.
17:43
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
17:53
Who is he referring to? The Pharisees. There were no Pharisees in the Old Testament.
17:58
The Pharisees jumped the fence. They snuck in. They had not been authorized by God, and they've added to the scriptures, their so -called tradition of the elders, the oral
18:08
Torah, right? But he who enters by the door, he's the shepherd of the sheep. To him, the gatekeeper opens.
18:14
The sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he has brought out all of his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
18:24
A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. This figure of speech used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.
18:33
Pharisees, they're all, huh, what? Right? So Jesus again said to them, truly, truly,
18:39
I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are what? Thieves and robbers, referring to the
18:47
Pharisees, false teachers, right? But the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door.
18:53
If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
18:58
The thief, the false teacher, the Pharisee, the one who twists up the
19:04
Scripture, adds to it, won't abide by it, won't stay within the bounds of Scripture, that's the thief.
19:09
The thief comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy. That ain't talking about Satan. It's talking about false teachers.
19:16
The irony here is that David Crank, in quoting, misquoting
19:23
John 10, says the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy, proves that he's one of the ones that Jesus was warning about who's come to steal, kill, and destroy, right?
19:34
The thief, the false teacher, comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
19:39
I am the Good Shepherd. Now, abundant life is not a promise of financial wealth, and how do we know?
19:46
Well, there's another rule when it comes to understanding the Bible. Clear passages always govern unclear passages.
19:55
So, the phrase, life and have it abundantly, is that referring to financial assets and being wealthy and things like this?
20:08
No. How do you know, Rose, bro? Because clear texts rule that out.
20:14
Let me explain, okay? Let me just give you a couple of texts, okay? So, Luke chapter 12, parable of the rich fool.
20:22
Starting at verse 13, some in the crowd said to Jesus, teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.
20:29
But he said to him, man, who made me a judge and an arbitrator over you? And then he said to them, take care, be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
20:44
Hmm. Hmm. That's weird, because David Crank, without a biblical text, says, you know, the money,
20:52
God wants to get it in the hands of the right people. Jesus says, listen, a person's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
21:01
So, he told them a parable saying, the land of a rich man produced plentifully. What produced plentifully?
21:07
The land did. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time, right? And he thought to himself, what shall
21:14
I do? I have nowhere to store my crops. Bummer for me.
21:19
First world problem, right? And so, he said, I will do this. I will tear down my barns, and I will build larger ones, and there
21:27
I will store all my grain and my goods. Ambrose of Milan had a great, great comeback for that.
21:37
Ambrose Milan said, you should have stored that extra food in the bellies of the poor.
21:45
Okay, so, I will tear down my barns, I will build larger ones, and I will store all my grain and my goods.
21:51
I will say to my soul, soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years.
21:57
Relax, eat, drink, be merry. But God said to him, fool, this night your soul is required of you, and the things that you've prepared, whose will they be, so is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.
22:17
That seems like a pretty stern warning regarding wealth, right? Well, there's more.
22:23
First Timothy chapter 6, starting at verse 2. Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful on the ground that they are brothers.
22:32
Rather, they must serve all the better, since those who benefit by their good service are believers and beloved.
22:39
Huh, look at this. First Timothy 6 talks about Christians who, you know, are slaves and they have masters.
22:47
He goes on. So, teach and urge these things. If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our
22:53
Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, not wealthiness, he's puffed up with conceit and he understands nothing.
23:03
He's an ignoramus. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words which produce envy, dissension, slander, and evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind, deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.
23:24
Oh, here we have a biblical text, First Timothy 6 verse 5, that basically says that godliness has nothing to do with being a means for financial gain.
23:35
But Paul continues, but godliness with contentment is great gain.
23:41
For we brought nothing into the world, we cannot take anything out of the world, but if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
23:50
But those who desire to be rich, they fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
24:00
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
24:09
Same chapter, verse 17 says, as for the rich in this present age, notice Paul doesn't sit there and say, now as for the rich, you will someday be rich because God wants to put money in your hands.
24:20
No, no, no, he has a warning. As for the rich in this present age, you charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
24:33
James puts it this way in chapter 5, now come now you rich, you weep and you howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.
24:42
Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth -eaten. Your gold and your silver have corroded and their corrosion will be evidence against you, and you will eat your flesh, and eat your flesh like fire.
24:55
You have laid up treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, are crying out against you.
25:04
And the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self -indulgence, and you have fattened your hearts in the day of slaughter.
25:15
You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, and he does not resist you. Hmm, James seems to have a pretty strong warning against the wealthy, but here's what
25:26
I would consider to be a very important text, Proverbs chapter 30, starting in verse 7.
25:34
Prayer. Two things I ask of you, deny them not to me before I die.
25:40
Remove far from me falsehood and lying. Give me neither poverty nor riches.
25:47
Feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, who is
25:53
Yahweh? Or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. So when
26:01
Jesus says that I came that they might have life and have it abundantly, is that saying that you're going to have wealth?
26:09
No! That's an unclear text. It's governed by the clear passages.
26:15
Clear passages say, give me neither poverty nor riches, and I would remind you in Matthew chapter 6,
26:21
Jesus teaches us to pray daily. Give us this day our daily bread.
26:32
That seems to go in line with, give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me.
26:38
Two texts that work together here. So is John 10 10 about you having an abundant financial life?
26:45
Nope, not at all. So all right, we're just a few minutes in, or two minutes 25 seconds in, and David Crank here has already twisted up John chapter 10.
27:00
Listen again to his twist. Okay, so there is a devil, okay, and the devil comes to do what? To steal, to kill, and to destroy.
27:08
Nope, it's the false teacher. Read it in context, sir, you're wrong. Jesus said, wait a minute, I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly, and you certainly can't have abundant life if you do not have the resources necessary to do what
27:20
God has called you to do. Quad non es biblicum, non es biblicum.
27:27
Which biblical text says that I can't do what God's called me to do unless God gives me the resources to do them?
27:35
What are you even talking about? What passage talks about this? And so God's called you to be a blessing to other, to bless other people, which no biblical text really says the way they mean it, and therefore you have to be blessed financially, because God wants to get the money into the right people's hands.
27:50
So here's the, here's the next one. This is only a 10 second bit from the same thing, because he just went off on a tangent regarding Lima, Peru, and things like that, but listen to this statement.
28:03
But see, God wants you to be a blessing to other people, and you can't bless other people if you yourself are not blessed.
28:14
Quad non es biblicum, non es biblicum. What is not in the Bible is not biblical. Where, where does it say that exactly?
28:22
I want to see the text in context to mean what you say that it means, that God has to bless us financially so that we can bless others, because all the clear passages
28:31
I read warn the rich, you know, and Jesus teaches us to pray daily, give us this day our daily bread.
28:39
So that's kind of a mess, but let's fast forward a little further into this, because this is the next portion of the teaching that he gives, and let's see.
28:47
He's going to twist at this point Matthew 6, Matthew 4, Acts 5.
28:53
Boy, this is gonna be a mess. Watch this. If you think that money is just to buy you a bigger house, a bigger car, and a bigger boat, there's not necessarily something wrong with that, but our heart has to be at the right place, and if you got the right heart...
29:07
What? There's something wrong with that, but our heart has to be at the right place, and if you got the right heart posture,
29:14
God can bless you. Does Mark Zuckerberg have the right heart posture?
29:20
Does Jeff Bezos have the right heart posture? How did they get so financially blessed?
29:26
How about George Soros? Does he have the right heart posture? What about Klaus Schwab?
29:32
Does he have the right heart posture? Where in the Bible does it say that if I have the right heart posture that I can then be blessed financially by God?
29:42
Again, quod non es biblicum, non es biblicum. If it's not in the Bible, it's not biblical. I don't know any passages that say this.
29:49
The Bible said, where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Let's not shout that at all the campuses. What is that?
29:55
Where your treasure is, your heart will be also. Wait till I show you this.
30:03
I can't believe he quoted it, but this is the most ironic, bizarre twisting of Scripture I've seen in a long time.
30:11
In a sermon about being financially blessed, he says your heart has to be in the right place, and Jesus says where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
30:21
Do you know what Jesus said around that verse? So if we just go to Matthew chapter 6, and I scroll down just a little bit, listen to what
30:31
Jesus says here in the Sermon on the Mount. I'm stumbling over my tongue today.
30:38
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, Jesus said. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth.
30:50
Does this sound like Jesus wants you to be financially well padded? No, that's not what
30:57
Christianity is about. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy, where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
31:13
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Listen again to what he did here.
31:22
It's absolutely bizarre. Talk about missing the entire point, and he basically saying here
31:45
God wants to bless you, but your heart has to be in the right place. That's not what Jesus was saying at all in Matthew chapter 6.
31:51
He was saying don't lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, but our heart has to be at the right place, and if you got the right heart posture,
31:59
God can bless you. The Bible said where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
32:05
Let's all shout that at all the campuses. What is that? Unbelievable. I mean just, the point you're making is the exact opposite point that Jesus made when he said where your heart is, your treasure will be also.
32:18
Unbelievable. This man has no conscience. He's completely oblivious to what the Bible actually says.
32:24
Where your treasure is, your heart will be also. So I think everybody in here and all of our churches this weekend, you have a heart to do.
32:31
So if my treasure is here on earth, that's where my heart is. It's not in heaven.
32:37
That was the point that Jesus was making. But the problem is, I don't know if you've noticed, but bread is really high.
32:44
We didn't need to eat bread anyway, but I still love it. Can I get an amen for the bread people in here? The Bible said man shall not live by bread alone, but it didn't say that you shouldn't have bread.
32:53
It said just don't eat it alone. There's the next twist. Matthew chapter 4.
32:59
Jesus quoting Deuteronomy. So he's talking about bread, and he says man should not live by bread alone.
33:05
He doesn't finish the quote, and that should tell you something. I mean, this is unbelievable.
33:11
If I sound like I'm a little bit exercised, I am. Okay, just saying. Matthew chapter 4 verse 1.
33:18
Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
33:24
After fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry, and the tempter came and said to him, if you are the
33:32
Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread. He answered, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
33:47
Why did Keith Kraft omit that last part? Jesus quoted the whole verse.
33:54
He only quoted man should not live by bread alone. Yeah, well, if we're not living by bread alone, what else are we supposed to live on?
34:01
The Word of God. That was the point that Jesus was making, and the point that Moses made in writing that verse in Deuteronomy.
34:09
So, all right, let's see if we can kind of tally up the score up to this point.
34:14
Keith Kraft, not Keith Kraft, David Crank has twisted, let me let me check my notes here, he's twisted
34:21
John 10, Matthew 6, Matthew 4, and by extension Deuteronomy. Oh, there's another big twist coming.
34:27
Are you ready for it? Here we go. We gotta have peanut butter on it, and we gotta have apple butter on it. Can I get anybody else?
34:33
All right, let me finish this out. Watch what he does with man shall not live by bread alone.
34:39
Watch what he does with this. It's unbelievable. Your heart will be also. So, I think everybody in here, and all of our churches this weekend, you have a heart to do good, but the problem is,
34:47
I don't know if you've noticed, but bread is really high. We didn't eat bread anyway, but I still love it.
34:54
Can I get an amen for the bread people in there? The Bible said man shall not live by bread alone, but it didn't say that you shouldn't have bread, it said just don't eat it alone.
35:01
So, I believe we ought to have peanut butter on it, and we gotta have apple butter on it. Can I get anybody else getting hungry here today? Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
35:11
Unbelievable. Doesn't mention anything about apple butter, or eating it alone. Talk about missing the whole point of the text.
35:20
So, your heart posture has to be right with God, and for God, to make a difference in people's lives.
35:25
And I want to go to a passage, which biblical text says that again, quod non es biblicum, non es biblicum, if it ain't in the
35:32
Bible, it ain't biblical. What passage were you quoting again there, sir? You're probably familiar with some of you, in Acts chapter 5, it says there was a certain man named
35:40
Ananias and Sapphira, his wife, who sold their possession, they sold their land. And they kept back part of the proceeds, his wife being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the
35:49
Apostles feet. But Peter said, by the unction of the Holy Spirit, he said, Ananias, why has
35:54
Satan filled your heart with a lie, to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
36:02
While it remained yours, was it not your own? After you sold it, was it not your own? Did not you control it?
36:08
Why have you conceived this thing in your heart, everybody shout heart, and you've lied, not to man, but you've lied to God.
36:15
Now, note, he actually read the text. He left an important part out, but I'll show it to you in a second. Ananias, after hearing these words, fell to the ground, breathed his last breath, and fear came upon him when he heard these things, and he died right there, at that moment.
36:29
You see, Ananias, God couldn't bless him because his heart wasn't in the right place. No. What was happening here is, you remember the story of the rich young ruler, the
36:40
Bible... He didn't even, he didn't explain it. It was in the context of his heart not being in the right place.
36:47
Let's explain what was going on there, shall we? So in Acts chapter 5, in fact, let me just do this,
36:54
Acts chapter 5, I want to apply the three rules for sound biblical exegesis, which are context, context, context, which requires me to back up into four just a little bit, all right?
37:05
Are you ready? So here's what it says, great power, and with great power the Apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the
37:12
Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold.
37:28
Uh -oh, I see. The wealthy were doing what? They were divesting themselves of their assets, okay?
37:37
And so they brought the proceeds of what was sold, and they laid that at the Apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.
37:46
Thus Joseph, who was also called by the Apostles Barnabas, which means son of encouragement, a
37:52
Levite, a native of Cyprus, he sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the
37:59
Apostles' feet. So note, the wealthy were divesting themselves of their assets and then distributing the proceeds 100%.
38:08
Now Ananias, he decided to do the same. He owned a piece of property and he sold it, and he put on the pretense that he was giving the entire proceeds to the
38:21
Apostles when in fact he was holding back some of it. He could have, he could have said, hey, I'm giving you 50 % of the asset of the of the price for the property, here's that, and that wouldn't been a problem.
38:32
But he wanted to be viewed as one who also had divested himself and given a hundred percent of the proceeds, and he by doing so lied.
38:41
But note here, what were the rich doing? Caring for the poor.
38:47
How? By selling everything, by selling their assets and giving away to those who are needy.
38:55
Note that Peter wasn't preaching to the needy, while you need to get your heart right so that you can have assets just like Barnabas and be able to buy fields and property like these other people.
39:06
Nope. So here that that David Crank just left that bit out, 100 % just left it out.
39:16
I wonder why. I wonder why he left that out. I know, because rich people divesting themselves to care for the poor doesn't fit the narrative that he's trying to put together here.
39:28
Okay, next one. All right, let's, so now he's gonna say that this is an example, he doesn't even explain the
39:36
Ananias and Sapphira bit. What's really funny is that no sooner did he read this text, he just, he had to get off of it quickly because any pushing around the context of that would have just completely obliterated the points that he was making.
39:50
And fear came upon him when he heard these things, and he died right there at that moment.
39:57
What was happening here is, you remember the story of the rich young ruler, the Bible. Now we're just off to the rich young ruler.
40:04
Okay. Looked at the rich young ruler and he said, you know, hey, you know, what should you do to inherit the kingdom of God? And he said, well, you know what,
40:09
I've loved my neighbor, and I've done this, and I've done that. He listed all the things, and God said, hey, well, only thing you got to do now is go sell all you have and give it to the poor.
40:18
Notice he's not reading the text, and there's a reason he's not reading the text. So let's come back to this, and I will go to Matthew chapter 19,
40:28
I believe. Let me scroll down here. Here we go, the rich young ruler. All right. So let me explain how this one works.
40:36
So, behold, a man came up to Jesus saying, teacher, what good must
40:41
I do to have eternal life? And watch what
40:46
Jesus says. Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. That's going to come into play here.
40:54
And in the other Gospels, it's, you know, why do you call me good? There is only one who is good, and that's God. Okay? But this is the important point.
41:02
There is only one who is good. Okay? If you would enter life, keep the commandments.
41:11
So Jesus isn't saying here he has to save himself by his works. Jesus is about to use the law to show this guy he's a sinner.
41:18
So he said to him, well, which ones? So Jesus then skillfully goes to the second table of the
41:24
Ten Commandments, the ones that deal with how we interact with each other. And Jesus said, you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness, honor your father and mother, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
41:37
And the young man said to him, all of these I have kept, what do I still lack? And remember what Jesus said, there is only one who is good.
41:47
So he's reading the law, and he thinks he's good. But Jesus has already said, there is only one who is good, and it ain't you.
41:58
So the guy says, I've kept all of these, what do I still lack? So Jesus now deals with what we call the first table of the law, our relationship with God.
42:10
So Jesus said, well, if you would be perfect, go and sell what you possess and give it to the poor, and you'll have treasure in heaven, and then come follow me.
42:19
Notice Barnabas did that. Interesting, right? Go sell and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven, and then come follow me.
42:30
And when the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
42:37
What was his problem? Idolatry. Money was his
42:42
God. Not God, right? Couldn't get rid of it.
42:49
So Jesus said to his disciples, truly I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven.
42:56
Does this sound like something we should be seeking after and striving after? No. Again, I tell you, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.
43:08
And when the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, well, who can be saved? But Jesus looked at them and said, with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
43:20
Wow. Okay, so far every text that he's touched, he's completely twisted.
43:28
And so let's see what he does now with the rich young ruler. What should you do to inherit the kingdom of God?
43:33
And he said, well, you know what, I've loved my neighbor, and I've done this, and I've done that, and he listed all the things, and God said, hey, well, the only thing you got to do now is go sell all you have and give it to the poor.
43:42
And it says in the Bible that that rich young ruler walked away sad at that saying. Yeah, and Jesus said it's only with great difficulty that a rich person can enter the kingdom of heaven.
43:51
He had done everything, but to walk away from the money, he said, man, I just can't do that, because it was a heart issue.
43:57
Now, you got to understand, right, he was an idolater. That God was never trying to take the rich young ruler's money, he was trying to entrust him with more money.
44:08
Quad non es biblicum, non es biblicum. Which biblical text does it say that Jesus wasn't trying to take the fellow's money, he just wanted to give him more money?
44:18
No biblical text says that, sir, you're just making that up. I believe, and many theologians believe, you remember the guy named
44:23
Judas? He had a wrong relationship with money, right? He worked as Jesus' CFO. He was stealing tons of money. When God would bring resources to them, he said, hey, shouldn't we sell this and give it to the poor?
44:32
He didn't plan on selling it at all. He had a wrong relationship with the money. He planned on stealing it. And I believe that that rich young ruler was going to be the replacement, the replacement idea, the plan.
44:45
What? Where in Scripture? Again, quad non es biblicum, non es biblicum. If it's not in the Bible, it's not biblical.
44:50
Where does it say that the rich young ruler was going to be the replacement?
44:56
Who for? Judas? Where in Scripture does it say that, hmm?
45:02
It can't be for Jesus' ministry if the guy would have said, absolutely God, have it all. Now remember this.
45:09
So according to to David Crank, the rich young ruler was going to take over being
45:16
CFO of Jesus' ministry in place of Judas. No text says that.
45:25
God's never trying to get money from you. He's trying to get money to you. But David Crank's trying to get money from you.
45:32
And all the prosperity preachers are. If you have the right relationship with money, that God will be able to give it back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
45:40
So he wants to pour more into your hands, but if your hands are like this and they're sticky, then God cannot bless you.
45:46
So you better make a big check out to David Crank and Crank Ministries.
45:52
What a name for a ministry. Crank Ministries. Aptly named, I would note. But here's the thing.
46:01
Quad non es biblicum, non es biblicum. If it ain't in the Bible, it's not biblical. He twisted every biblical text he touched, and embarrassingly so, made them say the exact opposite, exact opposite, of what those passages actually said.
46:19
Fascinating when you think about it. Why would that be? Because David Crank thinks that godliness is a form of financial gain, yet the
46:28
Scriptures, the New Testament, clearly warns against those who think such things.
46:34
