The Flying Spaghetti Monster as a Satirical Objection to God

Welcome to The Rapid Pull, Daily Edition, where we provide a quick Biblical interpretations and applications. This is a ministry of striving for eternity.

How is a belief in God any different than a belief in the flying spaghetti monster? That's right. There are people who try to argue for the flying spaghetti monster. They call that deity of the church of the flying spaghetti monster or pasta farian.

The reality is they think that this is a legitimate argument because they created something. The first we see of the flying spaghetti monster was first described in a satirical open letter by Bobby Henderson in 2005.

So this was never meant to be taken serious. It was something that was a protest to the Kansas State Board of Education decision to permit intelligent design. Now they would argue that that's a religious view.

And yet the reality is the difference between God and the flying spaghetti monster is, well, the flying spaghetti monster never actually believed by anybody to exist. Nobody takes that serious and really follows that.

God as the Necessary Precondition for Reason and Protest

However, with God, well, he is the necessary precondition to any kind of protest at all. When you sit here and argue for things that are immaterial, like your ability to reason, your knowledge claims, all those things, they require an immaterial source.

The universe requires a creator. That is who we call God.
