When we say that the Bible is inspired, we mean that when the authors wrote the Bible, God spoke through them. Their writing was not a mechanical dictation where the people wrote down what they heard directly spoken from God, nor did they get into some kind of trance-like state where they were unaware of what they were doing.
Instead, the writers of the Bible were free to express what they wanted, the way they wanted, and when they wanted. Yet God was also moving through them to ensure the integrity and the accuracy of what they said.
Therefore, the Christian Church did not give us the Bible. Instead, it recognizes what the Bible already was, God's inspired word. After all, Jesus said in John 10 .27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
