This is the channel that compares what people are saying in the name of God to the Word of God. So, quick question for you.

This will be our lead -off question, the one that we're going to seek the answer to today. Who is responsible for the leprosy, the leprous plague that is

Jolostein? Who is responsible for unleashing this epidemic of false doctrine on the wider body of Christ?

Now, don't be quick to answer. I know some of you are sitting there going, well, he's a wolf in sheep's clothing.

He's responsible for himself. I agree. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing and he will be held accountable by God if he doesn't repent of his false doctrine for sure and he will individually suffer the consequences of it.

But I'm asking a different question. Who's responsible for him? Who's responsible for all of this nonsense that's going on?

There's a biblical answer to the question and some of you may be surprised by the answer.

So, let's do this. First of all, we're going to whirl up the desktop. Just so you know, that's from the

So, let's head over to Lakewood. And before I hit the play button, you need to be aware of a couple of things.

Number one is, we have no choice but to completely distort, transmogrify, and change what it is that you're seeing because Joel Osteen thinks that he is above the copyright laws that allow for criticism.

You know, that this is called fair use. And so, since he has a watchdog group out there trying to take down channels that provide criticism and critique of his false doctrine, and he thinks he's above the law by doing so, we transmogrify everything in order to make it transformative, so that it's like, triply fair use, if you know what

I mean. So, just so you know, I'll say this at the beginning, the purpose of what we're going to be playing here is for the purpose of commentary and criticism, which

Joel Osteen has so deserved, and deserves more of, because he is an absolute wolf in sheep's clothing.

All of that being said, again, the question on the table is this, who's responsible for this?

Because what I'm gonna play for you, this is not a normal Joel Osteen critique that we're offering here. I would note that there's a pattern that he follows, and the pattern is just getting worse.

I mean, he just makes all of these promises for God, which are like patently absurd on their face.

I mean, and anybody who knows their Bible would sit there and go, the scriptures don't say that!

But I would note, if we just take a look here, I zoom in, look at this venue.

How many thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people are all sitting there listening to this stuff?

So again, who's responsible for Joel Osteen? That's my question. So let's listen just a little bit.

I want to talk to you today about it's still going to happen. We all have things that we're believing for. We prayed.

It's still gonna happen. What's gonna happen?

It is gonna happen. What's it? Well, it all depends on what your it is.

It is still going to happen. Okay, well, which it are we talking about here?

And you see the thing I'm saying? This is a one -size -fits -all, scratching of itching ears kind of nonsense that he's saying.

It's still gonna happen. What's it? And where in the Bible does it say that God's gonna still make it happen?

Remember, quod non es biblicum non es biblicum. If it's not in the Bible, it's not biblical. I don't know of any passages where God promises whatever it is, that it's still gonna happen.

So let's keep going. Our best, but the medical report hasn't improved. We didn't get the promotion.

We haven't met the right person. We wanted to go back to school, but nobody supported us, tried to start our business.

We had opposition, delays, people did us wrong. Now we think it wasn't meant to be, but we may have given up.

The good news is, God hasn't given up. I thought the good news is that Jesus Christ died for our sins.

So he says the good news is, you know, your business is failing. Don't worry. It's still gonna happen. It's still gonna succeed.

You've got a bad report from the doctor. Oh, it's still gonna happen. You're still going to have your healing.

You know, where in the Bible does it tell us any of this stuff?

And you know, the people there, they've showed up in droves, literally droves, to hear this message.

This is clearly something that is appealing to them. Who's responsible for this guy?

All right, let me back this up. People did us wrong. Now we think it wasn't meant to be, but we may have given up.

The good news is, God hasn't given up. He doesn't abort dreams. He's called the author. Where in Scripture does it say

God doesn't abort dreams? And watch the passage that he's gonna quote out of context. The good news is, God hasn't given up.

He doesn't abort dreams. He's called the author and the finisher Yeah, he's the author and perfecter of our faith.

That's not talking about our dreams. Okay, so if I were to pull up my Bible, all right?

Now, let's see here. Perfector. I'm gonna just look for perfector.

All right, hang on a second. Here. No, I spelled it wrong. Perfector. There we go.

I have spelled it with ER. Okay, so Hebrews 12. Here's our text, okay? So, therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder or the author and the perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Now, a little bit of a note. You'll note that Hebrews 12 begins with the word therefore, which means you have to pay attention to what's going on before the therefore shows up.

I've heard it said a gazillion times, and now I'm gonna say it. When you see the word therefore in the Scripture, you need to ask the question, what is the therefore therefore?

So, you'll note that whoever wrote the book of Hebrews, that the therefore in Hebrews 12 follows chapter 11, the great whole of faith passage, and this isn't talking about dreams.

This isn't talking about, you know, your business succeeding and things like this, okay?

So, faith, listen to how the Scripture defines faith. Faith is the assurance of things that are hoped for and the conviction of things that are not seen.

Now, the question is, what are you hoping for? Are you hoping that God has made a promise that he's going to give you perfect health?

He hasn't promised that. That's not the hope of Christianity or of true Christians. Well, I have a hope that God is going to make good on his promise and make my business succeed.

Well, that's a foolish hope, because God hasn't promised that your business will succeed.

Well, I have a hope that I'm gonna be able to conceive and have a child. Yeah, that's great, but God hasn't promised that if you're suffering from infertility that you're gonna have a child.

The things that we are hoping for are bound up in the promises regarding the new earth.

Christians in this lifetime are called to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow

Christ. Crosses, by the way, kill people. So, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen, for by it, by faith, the people of old receive their commendation.

By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God. Why do we believe that?

By faith, because the Scripture reveals that to us, so that what is seen was not made out of the things that are visible.

By faith, Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous,

God commending him by accepting his gifts, and through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.

Well, what was Abel's hope and faith in? The promise made in the

Garden of Eden in chapter 3, that the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent and set them free.

Abel believed and trusted in the promise of God, of the coming Messiah, that's who was promised in the

Garden of Eden. And so, he had faith, Cain didn't. And so, the text goes on to say, by faith,

Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance, and he went out not knowing where he was going.

By faith, he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise,

God had given him a real promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is

God. By faith, Sarah received power to conceive. Now, you'll note that God promised her that she would, and if you're having infertility issues,

God has not promised that you will. You may go through this entire life without the ability to bear children, because the promise that was made to Sarah is not a promise that is made to all.

Keep that in mind. And then, you'll note, therefore, from one man and him as good as dead were born descendants, as many as the stars of heaven, and as many as the enumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

All of these, they died in faith, watch this, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers in exiles on the earth.

And all Christians are. For people who speak thus make it clear that they're seeking a homeland.

If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their

God, for he has prepared for them a city. You see, the thing they're hoping for is the actual promises of God, the real promises that God has made to Christians.

And so you'll note, then, that you have all of these people commended by God in Hebrews 11 as doing the things that they did by faith.

And so you'll note, then, that Hebrews 11 not only talks about the great exploits that are done in the

Old Testament of the patriarchs, but says women received back their dead, this is Hebrews 11 35, some were tortured by faith, some refusing to accept release so that they might rise again to a better life.

Others suffered mocking by faith and flogging and even chains and imprisonment.

They were stoned by faith. They were sawn in two by faith. They were killed with the sword by faith.

They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated, of whom the world was not worthy.

Wandering about in deserts and mountains, in dens, in caves of the earth, and all of these, though commended through their faith, they did not receive what was promised.

For since God has provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

The promises we have, because we've been reconciled to God through the shed blood of Christ on the cross, our hope is not in this world.

It's in the world to come, the world that Christ is bringing with him when he returns in glory to judge the living and the dead.

So then you get to the therefore. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, of people who did these things by faith, including being mocked, tortured, and killed, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, who is the founder and the perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow faint, weary, or faint -hearted.

In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he mastigoy, he scourges every son whom he receives.

I've never heard Joel Osteen preach on this, ever. And he can't, and he won't. And there's a reason why, because somebody's responsible for unleashing the plague that is

Joel Osteen. And I again ask the question, who who is responsible for unleashing the Joel Osteen plague?

Who is? So you'll note that Joel Osteen has already misquoted a biblical text, where he says that Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith, as if somehow this passage is teaching us that God is going to not abort our dreams.

That's not what this passage is saying at all, and looking to Christ the author and the perfecter of our faith, that's in the face of suffering persecution, and laying aside sin, and things like that.

But Joel Osteen doesn't preach on those topics, right? So we continue, and just again, the question is, who's responsible for him?

The dreams he's whispered in your spirit, the promises... Oh, the dreams he's whispered in your spirit. Uh -huh.

Yeah, nowhere in Scripture does God promise to whisper dreams in your spirit. Here we go again. The author and the finisher of our faith.

The dreams he's whispered in your spirit, the promises you're standing on, it may be too much for you, but it's not too much for him.

He's saying today, it's still going to happen. So God is saying today, those dreams he's whispered in your, in your ear, in your heart, they're still gonna happen.

God isn't saying anything of the sort. This is nonsense. This is complete gobbledygook. Still going to get well?

You're still going to meet the right person? You're still gonna get well, he says to people who are dying of cancer and will die.

You're still gonna meet the right person, the person who's, you know, been single for most of their adult life, and there's no real prospects on the horizon.

They may not find the right person. Okay. You're still gonna have that baby? Really? You're still gonna have that baby, says no text anywhere.

Quod non es biblicum, non es biblicum. If it ain't the Bible, it ain't biblical. So you get the idea.

This is the standard Joel Osteen pablum, but the question is, who is responsible for this?

Answer? Well, let's take a look biblically, because who is responsible is visible in this shot that you're looking at from Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church.

Church in air quotes, right? So let's take a look at a big biblical text, okay?

Paul, writing to the young pastor Timothy, admonishes him, as for you, you continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you have learned it, and how from childhood you've been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

We pointed out in a previous episode of Fighting for the Faith recently that the scripture that teaches that the church is built on the foundation of the

Apostles and Prophets, which means it's built on the foundation of the scripture. Apostles wrote the New Testament, prophets wrote the old.

The church's foundation is the scripture, the Word of God, the actual words of God, and Christ says, if you love me, you will abide in my words.

If you don't abide in Christ's words, you don't love Christ at all, right? Okay, so here's

Paul admonishing young pastor Timothy to continue in the writings, the sacred scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete and equipped for every good work.

There is no good work that Christ is going to call you to do that the scriptures will not prepare you for. This is part of the reason why scripture is sufficient, sola scriptura.

But Paul continues, so I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who's to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom to preach the

Word. That's the job of a pastor. Pastors are to preach the Word. Joel Osteen doesn't do that, okay?

Be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience in teaching, for the time is coming when people will not endure sound doctrine.

See didaskalias here in the Greek, that could be translated as sound doctrine, sound teaching.

But having itching ears, they, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and they will turn away from listening to the truth and they will wander off into myths.

They will turn away from listening to the truth. They will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.

You know who's responsible for Joel Osteen? These people.

All of them. Every single one of them. They're all responsible for Joel Osteen.

If they wanted to hear the truth of scripture, they wouldn't be there. They wouldn't be sitting listening to this stuff.

The reason why they are there, the reason why they are listening to this complete, nonsensical, non -biblical pablum is because that's what they want to hear.

They are the ones who are responsible for Joel Osteen. They are the ones who have accumulated him to themselves because he teaches them exactly what they want to hear.

They don't want to hear that they need to repent of their sin. They don't want to hear that they have sinned against God's holy commandments.

They don't want to hear the call to repentance and to turn from their wickedness.

They don't want and need a crucified and risen Savior, and they are not going to put up with anybody who preaches

Christ and him crucified from their stage. The reason why

Joel Osteen is there is because Joel Osteen tells them exactly what their itching ears want to hear.

They don't want to hear the truth. By the way, this is a common theme in scripture.

Listen to Jeremiah. This was an Old Testament problem at the time of Jeremiah, and Jeremiah wrote during the greatest apostasy in Judah that is recorded in the

Old Testament. Consider what the Lord God, Yahweh, reveals through the prophet

Jeremiah. So in Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 21, Yahweh commands Jeremiah, declare this in the house of Jacob.

Proclaim it in Judah. Hear this, oh foolish and senseless people.

By the way, who's calling them foolish and senseless? Not Jeremiah. God is because Jeremiah is delivering a message from God.

Hear this, oh foolish and senseless people who have eyes but do not see. You have ears but you do not hear.

And I would note the folks there at Lakewood, they have eyes, they have ears, but they don't see and they don't hear.

They may as well be made out of wood or stone because when it comes to the truth of God's Word, they don't hear it at all.

They can't hear it. They don't want to hear it. So do you not fear me, declares

Yahweh? Do you not tremble before me? I place the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that cannot pass.

Though the waves toss, they cannot prevail. Though they roar, they cannot pass over it.

But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart.

They have turned aside and gone away. This is a perfect description of these people, every one of them.

They've turned aside, they've gone away, they are stubborn and rebellious, they refuse to hear

God's Word rightly taught, right? They do not say in their hearts, let us fear

Yahweh our God who gives the rain in its season, the autumn rain and spring rain and keep for us the weeks appointed for the harvest.

Your iniquities have turned these away and your sins have kept good from you.

For wicked men are found among my people. They lurk like fowlers lying in wait.

They set a trap, they catch men. Like a cage full of birds, their houses are full of deceit.

Therefore, they have become great and they've become rich. I would note that Joel Osteen is one of these fellows.

His house is full of deceit. His mouth is just filled with it, right? They have grown fat and sleek.

They know no bounds in deeds of evil. They judge not with justice.

They cause the fatherless to make it prosper and they do not defend the rights of the needy.

Shall I not punish them for these things, declares Yahweh? And shall I not avenge myself on a nation such as this?

An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land. The prophets prophesy falsely.

The priests rule at their own discretion. My people love to have it.

But what will you do when the end comes? That's Jeremiah's version of 2nd

Timothy chapter 4. Having scratching ears, they accumulate for themselves teachers who will suit their own passions and they'll turn away from the truth and wander off into myths.

Here we got false prophets running amok in Judah and God rightly points this out.

The prophets are prophesying falsely. The priests are ruling at their own discretion. But what's really going on here?

Oh, my people love it so. They don't want to hear God's Word. They don't want to hear the truth.

They don't want to be called to repentance. They don't want to be made to feel guilty for their transgressions.

No, no, no, no. They just want people who will tell them what they want to hear and fill them with vain, vain hopes.

That's what false prophets and false teachers do. Ezekiel writes the same thing.

Listen to what Ezekiel says in Ezekiel 13. The Word of Yahweh came to me. Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel.

And this, by the way, applies to all false teachers as well. Anybody who is a false teacher making promises for God that God hasn't made is acting as a prophet, but they're a false prophet, okay?

Because they're telling, they're giving you words from God that God hasn't given them to give, all right? Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are prophesying and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts, hear the

Word of Yahweh. Thus says the Lord Yahweh, woe to the foolish prophets.

That's a curse. Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing.

Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel. You have not gone up into the breaches or built up a wall for the house of Israel that it might stand in the battle in the day of Yahweh.

They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, declares the

Lord, when Yahweh has not sent them, and yet they expect

Yahweh to fulfill their words. Joel Osteen's the same. Joel Osteen's making all these promises, right?

All these promises that, you know, oh God, God says, God today says it's still gonna happen.

He hasn't said any of that, right? Okay, Joel Osteen fully expects God to fulfill the words that he's concocted in his own sinful, darkened heart, right?

Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination whenever you've said, declares Yahweh, although I have not spoken it?

Therefore, thus says the Lord Yahweh, because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold,

I'm against you, declares the Lord Yahweh. My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions, who give lying divinations.

They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel.

And you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh, precisely because they have misled my people, saying, peace.

There is no peace. And because when the people build a wall, the prophets smear it with whitewash.

Say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall. That's the people. There will be a deluge of rain, and you,

O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind break out. And when the wall falls, will it not be said, where is the coating with which you smeared it?

Hmm, are you starting to see the issue here? So the question before us is this, who's responsible for Joel Osteen?

The biblical answer is, these people are. They're the ones responsible. And within Christ Church, we're not permitted to hear the words of false teachers.

We're to mark and avoid them. This is what the Holy Spirit teaches us to do in the Scriptures. But these people, in defiance of the commands of God found in Scripture, they, rather than mark and avoid

Joel Osteen, they make sure that his church, his venue, is well attended, and that the broadcast of this nonsense is broadcast and sent throughout the world.

But they're the ones responsible. They don't want to hear the truth. They love the lies that Joel Osteen spreads.

They're the ones who are responsible. And on the Day of Judgment, do you think that they will stand? No, they won't.

Christ says, if you love me, you will abide in my word. Let me show you that text so you don't think

I'm making it up, although I recently showed it to you. John chapter 8.

Jesus makes this very clear. Here's what he says. So Jesus said, to those who have believed in him, if you abide, keep on keeping on, in my word, you are truly my disciples.

You'll know the truth, and the truth will set you free. You're not true disciples of Jesus if you don't abide in his word.

If you are so annoyed by the Scripture that you want somebody like Joel Osteen to come preach to you nonsense instead, you're not abiding in the words of Christ at all.

And so Christ makes it clear. Anyone who keeps my word, truly

I say, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. And if you love him, you will abide in his words.

But these people don't love God. Whoever hears the words of God, the reason why you don't hear them is that you're not of God.

The people there at Joel Osteen's church, the reason why they won't hear the Word of God and don't hear the Word of God is because they're not of God.

We're not looking at a Christian church. We're looking at a huge place, a big venue filled with counterfeits who do not hear the

Word of God, will not hear the Word of God, refuse to hear the Word of God, and if someone ever were to preach the truth at that venue, they would probably stone him to death.

The reason why Joel Osteen exists is because these people want to hear these lies.

They believe these lies. They're not interested in the truth that the Scriptures say. If they were, they wouldn't be attending that church.
