- Judaism versus Christianity? Well, very simply, what you see in the heart of the way these two religions look at the great commandment, one is to look at it that the greatest commandment is to love the

- Lord your God with all your mind, heart, soul, and strength. That's Christianity. Judaism would say that they do that, but they do it by focusing on laws, on doing the teaching to your children, on sitting down in your house and reciting this passage.

- So what they do is they actually recite this passage when they rise up in the morning, when they lie down, they put it on the doorpost, they put it on their hands and their foreheads.

- They believe that they're following the greatest commandment by reciting this passage over and over again in a legalistic way.

- This may give help to you when you think about what it says in Matthew chapter 6 when the disciples were asking

- Jesus how to pray and he says, don't pray with repetitious words.

- Why? Because the repetitious words are exactly what the Jewish people would do. They don't think about the meaning of these words.

- They can say, hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your mind, heart, soul, and strength all day long.

- But saying it doesn't make it affect the heart. Where Christians see it's not about legalism, it's not about laws, but it's about grace and mercy and having a heart for God.
