We thank you, our God, that you are our eternal God, our infinite God, and yet you've chosen to reveal yourself to us as finite creatures, even bringing us into relationship with you,
00:27
Father, through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. And we gather this morning, our God, to celebrate that relationship that we have with you.
00:35
And we desire, our God, that relationship with you would be enhanced by our gathering together in your
00:40
Son's name. And so we humbly ask that you would help us, Lord, each and every one of us, as we seek to worship you in accordance with your word.
00:51
As you fill us with the blessed Holy Spirit, we pray, our God, that you would give each of us recall of your word and the truths of your word.
01:01
We pray, our God, that the blessed Holy Spirit would also do a work of grace in our souls regarding our own sin, that we might receive grace from you to overcome sin defeated in our lives, that we might go forth in this place resolved to live more righteously before you.
01:20
And so may you accomplish your good purposes in Christ, in us, our God. And we do pray, perhaps, for one here that may be a stranger to saving grace, that you would reveal,

Father, yourself through Jesus Christ in the gospel in a wonderful and glorious way. We pray the blessed
01:39
Holy Spirit would cause that new birth in which a great transformation takes place, an imparting of a principle of life and love for you and love for your word, love for righteousness.

29:18
And then he begins his ministry in his hometown of Nazareth. And those he grew up among rejected him.
29:28
And so he went on to the region of Galilee, Capernaum by the shores of Galilee and cast out demons and healed many people.
29:39
So the onset of our Lord's earthly ministry. Luke chapter four.
29:47
And Jesus full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led by the spirit in the wilderness for 40 days, being tempted by the devil.
29:58
And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. The devil said to him, if you are the son of God, command this stone to become bread.
30:10
Jesus answered him, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone.
30:17
And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time and said to him, to you
30:24
I will give all this authority and their glory for it has been delivered to me and I give it to whom
30:31
I will. If you then will worship me, it will all be yours.
30:37
And Jesus answered him, it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.
30:46
And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, if you are the son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, he will command his angels concerning you to guard you and on their hands they will bear you up unless you strike your foot against the stone.
31:08
And Jesus answered him, it is said, you shall not put the Lord your God to the test.
31:16
And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time.
31:24
Jesus returned to the power of the Spirit to Galilee and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country and he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
31:35
And he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up and as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the
31:42
Sabbath day and he stood up to read and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him.
31:49

What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well. And he said, truly
32:52
I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown but in truth
32:58
I tell you there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the heavens were shut up three years and six months and a great famine came over all the land.
33:08
And Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath in the land of Zidon to a woman who was a widow and there were many lepers in Israel in the times of the prophet
33:21
Elijah and none of them was cleansed but only Naaman, the Syrian. When they heard these things all in the synagogue were filled with wrath and they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built so that they could throw him down the cliff.
33:42
But passing through their midst he went away. And he went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee and he was teaching them on the
33:50
Sabbath and they were astonished at his teaching for his word possessed authority.
33:58
And in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon and he cried out with a loud voice, ha, what have you to do with us
34:06
Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the
34:11
Holy One of God. But Jesus rebuked him saying, be silent and come out of him.
34:18
And when the demon had thrown him down in their midst he came out of him having done him no harm.
34:25
And they were all amazed and said to one another, what is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits and they come out.
34:35
And the reports about him went out into every place in the surrounding region. And he arose and left the synagogue and entered
34:44
Simon's house. Now Simon's mother -in -law was ill with a high fever and they appealed to him on her behalf and he stood over her and rebuked the fever and it left her and immediately she rose and began to serve them.
35:01
Now when the sun was setting all those who had any who were sick and various diseases brought them to him and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
35:11
And demons also came out of many crying, you are the son of God. But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak because they knew he was the
35:21
Christ. And when it was day he departed and went into a desolate place.
35:28
And the people sought him and came to him and would have kept him from leaving them. But he said to them,
35:34
I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well for I was sent for this purpose.
