- But I pity the fool, and I will destroy any man who tries to take what I got.
- 00:10
- Mr. T is an American actor, television personality, and retired bouncer, bodyguard, and professional wrestler.
- 00:20
- He has tweeted, I am a Christian who happens to be an actor. Not an actor who happens to be a
- 00:28
- Christian. I am a Christian first. I think it's great whenever a well -known celebrity is willing to publicly express faith in Jesus Christ.
- 00:40
- I'm glad that Mr. T is unashamed to tell the world that he is a Christian. However, I recently saw another tweet from Mr.
- 00:49
- T that was concerning. On Christmas Day, Mr. T tweeted,
- 00:55
- God so loved the world, that means God loves Christians and non -Christians.
- 01:01
- Jews and non -Jews, believers and non -believers, atheists and agnostics, lovers and haters.
- 01:10
- God loves everybody. What's wrong with this tweet? Well, pretty much everything.
- 01:18
- One thing we can say is right about this tweet is that, in a sense, God does love everyone, in the sense that God gives common grace to everyone.
- 01:30
- This means that he gives general blessings to everyone. Matthew 5, 45 says that God makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
- 01:46
- However, there is another sense in which God does not love everyone. God has not chosen to save everyone, and God's wrath remains on everyone who does not repent and put their faith in Jesus alone for salvation.
- 02:04
- In other words, God does not savingly love everyone. Matthew 1, 21 tells us that Jesus came to save his people from their sins, not to save every single person in the world.
- 02:19
- But Mr. T doesn't make this very important distinction in his tweet, and just says that God loves non -believers, atheists, agnostics and haters.
- 02:30
- Mr. T is quoting the famous John 3, 16, but that's not at all what
- 02:35
- John 3, 16 is saying. Two notes. First, let's note that the
- 02:41
- Greek word for so, in John 3, 16, doesn't mean that God loved the world so much, but rather that God loved the world in this way.
- 02:52
- And second, Mr. T doesn't quote the second half of John 3, 16, which says,
- 02:59
- For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
- 03:09
- John 3, 16 is saying that God loved the world by sending Jesus, so that everyone who believes in Jesus will be saved from perishing or experiencing
- 03:21
- God's wrath and judgment. The flip side of this is that everyone who doesn't believe in Jesus will perish and experience
- 03:30
- God's wrath and judgment. Again, I'm very glad Mr. T is bold about his
- 03:36
- Christian faith. I just hope he will gain a more accurate view of God's love and call people to repentance and faith, which is what
- 03:46
- Jesus himself commanded. Simply telling people that God loves them is not at all the gospel or the truth they need to hear.
- 03:56
- Walk up to someone and say, God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Can you imagine telling that to an
- 04:04
- American? Sir, God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
- 04:10
- What? God loves me? That's great because I love me too.
- 04:17
- Oh, this is wonderful. And God's got a wonderful plan. I've got a wonderful plan for my life too.
- 04:25
- And if I accept him into my life, I'll have my best life now. This is absolutely wonderful.
