Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to Fight for Truth, the channel where we bring you Christian commentary about the things that matter.
00:07
In today's video, we're going to be talking about a TikTok from a progressive so -called Christian pastor.
00:13
This gentleman took initiative and decided to post a public apology to the LGBT community.
00:20
Accompanied by emotional piano music, the description of the video says this, quote,
00:25
Apology to the LGBTQAI plus people who have been scared by Christians, end quote.
00:32
Of course, it's entirely possible that he meant to write scarred by Christians. But in either case, it seems the idea is relatively the same, that this community has been historically mistreated by the
00:44
Church, called out for sin that should never have been called out. And therefore, an apology from someone who considers themself a leader in the
00:52
Church of sorts is in order. In any case, this pastor's screen name is Pastor Dante, and he can be seen wearing a rainbow outfit and standing in front of a church aisle.
01:03
According to his bio, his goal is to offer, quote, heartfelt expressions of love, acceptance, and encouragement.
01:10
And of course, he wants to let us know that his pronouns are, quote, he slash him. In this video, we're going to watch his emotional apology video and compare it to the
01:19
Bible. So without any further ado, watch this. I'm just lost for words.
01:25
I don't even know where to start or what to say. The only thing
01:30
I can say is I'm sorry. Pause here, because we're already faced with a bit of an issue.
01:36
It seems that so -called pastor Dante thinks that he's some sort of representative for the
01:41
Christian worldview. More than this, he thinks he is a representative of the clergy. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.
01:49
Dante does not represent anything resembling true biblical Christianity. For one,
01:54
Dante says that he is a practicing homosexual. By contrast, 1 Timothy 3 .2 says that a pastor must be, quote, above reproach, the husband of one wife.
02:05
In other words, heterosexuality is a prerequisite for ministry. Of course, from passages like 1
02:11
Corinthians 7, we know that for some people, as is the case with the Apostle Paul, they are given the gift of celibacy.
02:18
But these are the only two valid options, a God -honoring heterosexual marriage or the gift of Christian celibacy.
02:25
Having a pastor who subscribes actively to the LGBT lifestyle is quite simply not in accordance with any of the biblical qualifications for that office.
02:35
And of course, as you're about to see, Dante also subscribes to a whole host of other unbiblical views.
02:41
But there's something else we need to recognize here. I'm not sure about you, but I've noticed this trend of LGBT -affirming progressive pastors wearing what they think is extremely traditional church clothing.
02:52
In many cases, including this one, they add rainbows and bright colors to these traditional uniforms as well.
02:58
But why do progressive Christians, who are so not traditional in every other way, want to wear these things?
03:05
Well, let me offer one hypothesis for you. It is my considered opinion that they wear these outfits because they are desperately trying to lend credibility to their position.
03:15
In other words, they are so clearly not real pastors when it comes to their theology that they have to make up for it by putting on a costume.
03:23
It appears that they believe this makes their claims more convincing. But again, this is not convincing in any way.
03:29
You see, biblically, the title of pastor is not given to you because you wear particular clothing associated with that office.
03:35
Here's a practical illustration. When a lawyer dresses up like a fireman on Halloween, that doesn't make him a fireman.
03:42
It makes him a lawyer pretending to be a fireman. And similarly, when a progressive Christian puts on traditional pastor clothes, it doesn't make them a pastor.
03:51
It makes them a progressive Christian pretending to be a pastor. In other words, a pastor, according to 2
03:57
Timothy 4 .2, is someone who is faithful to, quote, preach the Word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching, end quote.
04:08
This description hardly defines any progressive Christian, let alone the person we're watching in this video.
04:14
So with that said, let's get into the main content of this TikTok apology. Watch this.
04:20
I'm thinking about all of you beautiful trans, non -binary, gay, lesbian, whatever folks.
04:26
Like I'm just thinking about all of the people who have ever come and stepped foot in a place like this and have been rejected and told that there was something wrong with you or that you were a sin or some crap like that.
04:37
I'm sorry. So here we have to pause again, because there is a claim being made that is worth investigating.
04:43
This so -called pastor declares that he is apologizing to anyone who has entered a church and been told that, quote, you were a sinner or some crap like that.
04:53
Just so you know folks, what he's referring to when he says crap is what other people would call sound
04:59
Christian doctrine. But of course, when it comes to progressive Christians, that might as well be potato -potato. Just to put an even finer point on this, let's do some
05:06
Biblical research. He says that it's crap to suggest that someone is a sinner or living in sin.
05:13
But what this man refers to as crap is preached by notable men such as, I don't know, Paul, John the
05:19
Baptist, James, John, and Jesus Christ Himself. And I suppose now would be a good time to cite my sources.
05:26
James 4 .17 says that failing to do the right thing is sin. Paul tells us in Romans 6 .23
05:32
that the wages of sin is death. And in 1 John 1 .8, John says that anyone who suggests they are not a sinner is utterly deceived within themself.
05:43
In Matthew 3 .2, John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus Christ by preaching none other than repentance from, you guessed it, sin.
05:51
And just for good measure, Jesus Himself preaches an identical message of repentance from sin in the very next chapter,
05:58
Matthew 4 .17. So if someone calls a concept preached by Paul, John, James, and Jesus Himself crap,
06:05
I think they're showing you their theological cards. I make a point of not using this word often, so feel free to take out your phone and film this.
06:13
It's a collector's item. The worldview presented in this apology video is textbook heresy.
06:18
There's nothing else you could possibly call it. It is completely outside the bounds of Orthodox Christian teaching.
06:25
But in the next clip, rather than preach the gospel of grace to people who are in sin, Dante tells us what he would do instead.
06:32
Watch this. And I wish I could change it for you. I wish I could go back to that church and be the preacher that told you that you were beautiful, that you were competent, that you were strong, that you were capable.
06:44
But I can't undo what's already done. So rather than tell someone they're living in sin, according to Dante, it would be far better to remind them consistently about how, quote, beautiful, competent, smart, and capable they are.
06:57
Here's the problem with that. He's talking about these things as if they are inherently virtuous, when in reality, they are not.
07:04
Take beauty, for example. Proverbs 31 30 says, quote, charm is deceitful and beauty is vain.
07:11
But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised, end quote. So what's the principle here?
07:16
Well, being beautiful doesn't make you uniquely good. It's the way that you fear the Lord that matters, according to this message.
07:23
Now take, for example, being, quote, capable or competent. There are many deeply immoral people who are capable and competent, people who still need to be called out for their sin and called to righteousness in Christ.
07:36
Judas was capable, for instance, of hatching a plan to betray Christ and have him arrested in John chapter 18, which eventually led to his execution.
07:46
And the plan of Judas was successful. Again, he was capable. But his competence and capability did him no good in the end.
07:53
He used these things sinfully and dishonorably. So here's the question. Do people fundamentally need to be told how awesome and capable and beautiful they are?
08:02
Or is it more pressing that they be told the actual gospel of Jesus Christ of salvation from sin?
08:08
The Bible has one answer, and progressive pastor Dante has an utterly different answer. Choose this day who you will believe.
08:15
But in the next clip, you're going to witness perhaps the most blatant example of unbiblical progressivism that you've seen so far, and that's really saying something.
08:24
Watch this. And I know many of you are not trusting of people like myself in a clergy outfit. You wonder what's the catch?
08:30
Am I trying to convert you? But this video is not about any of that. I just want to tell you that you are beautiful.
08:39
So it seems that Dante has shown us what his worldview truly is and what he really thinks about biblical
08:45
Christianity. In fact, his worldview here is not resembling biblical Christianity in the slightest.
08:50
He says outright that he is not interested in converting anybody to Christianity in the video.
08:56
Rather, he is focused on a much more important goal, to tell you how beautiful you truly are.
09:01
And this simply is not in alignment with biblical priorities. You see, fundamentally, Jesus didn't preach a central message of how beautiful you are inside.
09:10
Rather, as we've already covered, he preached a message of repentance at the coming of his kingdom.
09:16
Dante and pastors like him think that they are truly being loving when they spread this message of, you're beautiful.
09:22
In reality, there is nothing more hateful than what they preach. Let's take, for example, John 3 .16,
09:28
a passage about love that everyone knows. For God so loved the world that He gave
09:35
His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
09:41
Notice that Jesus came here to save us from our sin and perishing in an eternity of separation from God.
09:49
He did not fundamentally come here to tell us how beautiful and magical and amazing we all are, because that's not the central message we need to know.
09:57
In truth, the greatest manifestation of love ever given to the world was in Jesus sacrificing
10:03
Himself for our sin. You see, regardless of how beautiful Pastor Dante wants to tell you you are, you will never escape your need for a
10:12
Savior. And the fact that He won't tell you that shows you everything you need to know about His worldview.
10:17
It is unbiblical, dangerous, and incredibly unloving. All of the vague motivational statements and piano music aside here, this fact remains.
10:26
True biblical Christianity is not maintained or preserved at all in progressive so -called
10:32
Christianity. Progressive pastors demonstrate this fact clearly when they tell you what they believe.
10:38
In any case, I hope this video has succeeded in demonstrating how false and bankrupt much of the progressive worldview is.
10:45
I pray that this has been a blessing to you, and please know that this video isn't meant as a sinful attack, but rather as a biblical critique.
