Can You Name 10 Commandments? ***Evangelism at the Fair with Pastor Mike Collier***

The Ten Commandments at the Fair

If you name all 10 commandments, I'll give you this. You can buy you a funnel cake or a caramel apple. I will give this to you if you will name all 10 commandments. Do you know the 10 commandments? I don't know them fully.

$10. It's real. All 10. And that will reimburse, is it your husband? Yeah. It'll reimburse you for the tea you bought. No, thank you.

All right, you can't steal. All right. Can't kill. Yep. Don't worship false idols or false gods. That's number two. I don't even think I know one. Sure you know one.

You may not steal. You may not speak bad over other people. That's not one of them. You shouldn't do that, but that's not one of them. Do you want to steal? There's one. They don't have to be in order.

Thou shalt not vote for Biden. What did he say? Thou shalt not vote for Biden. Oh, my man.

Hold on now, I've got some more. Obey your mother and your father. Yep. Oh, man, we're getting there. Let's see here. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife.

That's the same. Is it? Oh, that's an IQ. There you go.

That should have been the first one. My bad. Let me ask you, how many of those have you broken? Liar, thief, and a murderer at heart. If you drop dead today, Keith, based on that standard alone, being guilty, stood before the judge of all creation, where do you think you'd go, heaven or hell?

So liar, thief, and a murderer. Based on that standard alone, you drop dead, where do you think you'd go, heaven or hell? So liar, thief, if you drop dead right now, heart attack, brain aneurysm, hit the ground, where do you think you would go, heaven or hell, based on that standard?

Based on that, guilty of those things, drop dead, where do you think you'd go, heaven or hell? Based on that standard alone, you drop dead right now, you stand before a holy God, where do you think you would go, heaven or hell?

So if God's demands perfection, we drop dead, where are we going to go, heaven or hell? Hell. Does that bother you? Yes. It does because we're talking about it. I know y 'all wasn't thinking about that before we walked by here.

You did. Most people don't think about that. Right, right. We don't get up in the morning going, hey, man, I could die today. Do it.

Repentance, Faith, and the Need for Christ

Give yourself to God, he forgives you of those sins. Okay. So even though you are that, then you should go to heaven.

When you mean give yourself to God, what do you mean? I'm not disagreeing. Right, right.

Okay. You ask him to be your Lord and Savior. Okay.

Give yourself to him. So you haven't said what Jesus Christ plays in that. Because he sacrificed his life. Okay, so that's the intercessor. So when you say give yourself to God, God can mean a lot of things in this world.

Right, right. And we can even say that there's a lot of Jesuses in the world, but there's only one Jesus that came with the perfect life and died the perfect death that you and me could not do. Jesus Christ came into the world for one purpose, to seek and to save that which was lost.

You and me come into this world lost, man. We come into the world deserving the wrath of God. But he sent his son into the world to live a perfect life and then to die a cruel death on a cross, bearing the sins of everybody that would believe.

And that's why we can say all those who are heavy laden should come unto him and he will give them rest. And that's why we can say that for whosoever calls on the name of the Lord, they will be saved.

Jesus came and he died. Yeah, he died so that sinners could be forgiven. But he lived a perfect life. You have to remember God's demands perfection. You and me fall short. All of sin and falling short of the glory of God.

God's demands perfection. God didn't lower his standards. What he did is he brought the perfect standards into the world so that sinners could be forgiven by providing a substitute death and then a substitute for that righteousness.

And he has said this, I call all men everywhere to repent because I'm going to judge the world in righteousness by that man. And how do you know? Because I raised him from the dead. We're going to stand before God and we're going to give him the count.

It's not going to be, hey man, did I work hard? Did I love my kids? Did I love my life? I think those are all good things, all right? I want you to understand that. But when you die and you stand before God, it's going to be what did you do with Jesus Christ?

And that's why Jesus came into the world. Live a perfect life. Die that perfect death so that we can be forgiven by simply repenting, turning from our sin, and trusting in him and living our life for him.

Putting on the Lord Jesus Christ Like a Parachute

Well, I appreciate you letting us take time. Thank you. Yes, ma 'am. Did you get a card? You were on a plane and it was going to go down and this guy ran up to you and he says, hey man, you put these two parachutes on and you jump.

You'll live. What are you going to do? You're going to crash to a fiery death or are you going to put the parachute on and jump? I'd probably jump. Any smart person would. Okay. But that's how you put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

You put on the Lord Jesus Christ and you jump. Though it may be a bumpy ride, but I promise you Jesus Christ will get you safely to your destination which is in heaven with him. Right. Shelby, I appreciate you listening to me.

Yes. All right, thank you. That's how you put on the Lord Jesus Christ. No point in a man wanting to die under the judgment. You're not guaranteed the next one. But that's a gift from God. Yes, sir. To place all of your faith in Jesus Christ, to put him on like you would a parachute, and to jump and trust as that parachute would catch you by falling from a plane, you trust that the Lord Jesus Christ would catch you on the day of judgment.

Right. Good? Yeah. All right, man, I appreciate you listening to us, man. Thank you. There you go. Appreciate it. Keep your 10 bucks. If we trust in him, he'll take all our sins away and give us his righteousness.

I appreciate you listening to me, brother. All right, man. You be good, my brother. Yes, sir.
