God. Now, forever, man has worshipped something.

He has set others up to worship. They have worshipped the sun, the moon, the stars.

You see it and hear it now even in small children. You hear things that are openly voiced with no hesitation that the worst man in our town would not have said to his dumb mule out behind the barn.

They go their merry way. Now, we know that what things whoever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified.

Remember that word. Justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Now, give me an explanation of the word justified, as used in the

It is an act of God, removing the guilt and penalty of sin from the chosen.

But that's not all. That would leave a void. So he bestows with a positive righteousness, and that righteousness is

We had nothing to do with it, folks. Self -justification is wrong, and you find it every day.

You'll find it in an excuse that somebody gives, and they say, I would have been here but the train prevented it.

Now, this is a legal standing. Does not change or affect the character of the person to be justified.

Now, David, tell me, what happens to that person's character if justification doesn't change it?

You're all in school. You're all learning every day, every moment of each day.

Every day you're learning how to better become a Christian. Each morning you stand in front of your mirror, above the washbasin, and as you look at your face, it needs washing, it needs shaving, it needs powdering, whatever, and you know that because the mirror told you so.

But do you correct it in the mirror? No, you have to go to the washbasin.

You have to go to the word, the holy word of God, and that's below. You cannot just look at the law and practice the law and become good.

The water of God's holy word is what changes you every day.

I'm so amazed, and I guess that's the right term. I'm amazed every day at what

I see that I had not seen before in the word. Passages that I studied umpteen times over the years, and I see something new.

The mirror is the law, the water is the gospel. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all of them that believe, for there is no difference.
