This is a ministry of striving for eternity. Yesterday we looked at the fact that there is one key verse that we can always turn to when someone makes the claim they were once a

Christian. That is 1 John 2 .19, which says they went out from among us because they were not of us.

This is key because what this says is that anybody who is a Christian will remain a

Christian. They will overcome, and we see this often in scripture, that Christians will overcome and persevere and will not fall away.

And so what we see is that in scripture it says that those who are Christians will remain

Christians until the end. So if you have someone, and it doesn't matter if they once studied to be a pastor and went to seminary or have lots of degrees in theology, if they went out from among us, they were never of us.

It means that they were nothing more than a hypocrite that stopped pretending. Now most people will use the argument that I was once a

Christian to try to give themselves some form of authority. But the thing you're often going to find is that most of them never understood what

Christianity actually believed, and most of them don't know what are the basics of Christian faith.

And this is one thing you can point out to them. You'd never go to a doctor that doesn't understand anything or very little about medicine.

You go to people who are experts. Go to those who actually study the Bible to understand what the
