Spiritual Transition from a fanny pack to the Gospel

One of the most difficult things for people when witnessing is the transition from the natural to the spiritual. This is a game we created to help sharpen those skills. This is a fun game to people with adults or youth groups. To play the game, you call out a person and name something for them to transition from and they have to transition from that to either a spiritual conversation or the gospel.

Well, this is the time where we do a spiritual transition game for those who watch live at the
00:06
Striving Fraternity Academy, Monday nights live, 8 o 'clock. Those who are in the chat room, give me something to transition to the gospel.
00:13
And I never know what I'm being given until it's provided, just moments or in this case still hasn't been provided what
00:21
I'm going to have to transition to. So I have to take whatever is given to me in the chat room and transition from that to the gospel and you get to see how fast it takes me to transition because I don't even know what
00:33
I'm going to be talking about. But the goal of this game is so that we can learn to transition from the natural to spiritual.
00:40
Most of us can handle conversations about the gospel once it becomes a spiritual conversation, but how do we get it there?
00:47
Well, today we're going to transition from fanny packs. Alright, fanny packs to the gospel.
00:54
Can you do this transition? Can you transition from a fanny pack to the gospel? We're going to see if I can do it.
01:01
Alright, so maybe I'm walking down, I see a guy wearing a fanny pack. Now for those who may not know what a fanny pack is, that's that little pack that guys sometimes have in the front of their, well, it's often covered by their belly because their belly kind of comes up and over the pack, but it's so that they can put more things that they can't fit in their pocket and they put it into a little pack and they wear it around their waist and it's called a fanny pack.
01:29
But it's, what's its purpose? Well, it has a purpose of, well, okay, it has a purpose of being like a pocket book is to ladies, but, and some ladies wear the fanny packs as well, but it basically allows for you to carry more things, which is kind of interesting because if you're anything like me, you like to always be prepared for all situations, which means
01:49
I carry way more things on me than I really need. And so we tend to want to carry a lot of things with us, things we often don't need in our life, but just in case we want to have it with us yet, you know, it's interesting is that we carry a lot of baggage with us and a lot of things that weigh us down, that's very similar to the way that sin works in our life.
02:17
See, we often think of sin as something that's pleasurable, something that's going to give us great joy, something that we're going to have to give us meaning in our life.
02:27
That's the way the world thinks of sin. And they think that if they believe in God, they have to give up this pleasure.
02:36
Well, the reality is that sin is like a weight on us and when we repent and turn to Christ, it's only then that we realize that that sin was weighing us down.
02:47
It was a burden that we were bearing. And just like all those useless things that we carry in that fanny pack weigh us down, so does sin, but that's even more so because sin leads to death, spiritual death, well, and physical death.
03:09
But the reality is sin leads us to eternal damnation and we think it gives us such pleasure, but it is only when we repent, when we turn from trusting in our sin and trust in Jesus Christ, that not only do we have eternal life, but we realize the burden and the dead weight that sin is.
03:31
We turn away from it and we rejoice. Sin doesn't have that same pleasure. This is the reality.
03:38
So many people think that if they turn from their sinful lifestyle that they're somehow going to be losing something when the reality is it's only when you turn from that sinful lifestyle and turn to Jesus Christ that you see the true pleasure you can have in something far greater than sin and something that is far more lasting.
03:55
In fact, it's eternal. Now if you're still in sin doing those things that you know
04:02
God says is wrong, you're going to pay a consequence. My challenge to you is to turn from that and trust
04:08
Jesus Christ as a payment of your sin that you can have eternal life today. That's how I, in the split second that I had, would transition from a fanny pack to the gospel.
