Welcome to the teaching ministry of Kungsvinger Lutheran Church. Kungsvinger is a beacon for the gospel of Jesus Christ and is located on the plains of northwestern
00:18
Minnesota. We proclaim Christ and Him crucified for our sins and salvation by grace through faith alone.
00:25
And now here's a message from Pastor Chris Roseberg. The Holy Gospel according to St.
00:30
Matthew chapter 28 verses 1 through 10. Now after the
00:35
Sabbath toward the dawn of the first day of the week Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. Behold there was a great earthquake for an angel of the
00:44
Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, his clothing white as snow and for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
00:57
But the angel said to the women do not be afraid for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
01:04
He's not here for he is risen as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
01:09
Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead and behold he is going before you to Galilee.
01:17
There you will see him. See I have told you. So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples and behold
01:27
Jesus met them and said greetings and they came up and took hold of his feet and they worshiped him.
01:34
Then Jesus said to them do not be afraid go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee and there they will see me.
01:41
This is the gospel of the Lord. He is risen. Hallelujah.
01:49
So in our country nowadays there's a political buzzword that everyone is using and the buzzword is this.
01:56
Are you ready? Fake news. You watch CNN. You watch Fox News. Each and every one of these stations are accusing the other of fake news.
02:06
Apparently fake news is what the deciding factor was regarding the election of our current president.
02:13
Fake news is all the rage. In fact Facebook is cracking down on fake news.
02:19
Have you seen it? I logged into Facebook just a few days ago and there in my news feed was a warning from Facebook.
02:28
Beware of fake news. What to look for, right? How to check sources.
02:34
If it seems sketchy it's probably fake news and we know what to do if you run across fake news.
02:42
Find that fellow. Drag him out in the streets. Tar and feather him and hang his dead carcass over the
02:47
Red River. Maybe not that last part. But I sometimes think as I watch my news feed and Christians this morning all over the world on their news feed have announced he is risen and their
03:03
Christian brothers and sisters have answered in the comments section of Facebook he is risen indeed.
03:09
It makes me wonder if some atheist fellow in his news feed this morning is going fake news.
03:15
Fake news. No way. He didn't rise from the dead. Everybody knows YOLO. You only live once.
03:24
I mean isn't that really the theme of so many of these kids today? YOLO? Or how did we say it back in the day?
03:31
Eat and drink for tomorrow you die. It's all about doing the things on your bucket list.
03:39
But brothers and sisters I'm here to let you know that this report that we are getting from the tomb of Jesus Christ is not fake news.
03:49
It is good news. It is good news for you. It is good news for me. It means everything in the whole world.
03:56
And so I would like to return a little bit in the context of our gospel text if you'd like to turn to Matthew chapter 27 we will begin in verse 50 and like I like to point out
04:07
I'm old enough to remember when the Brady Bunch was actually still putting out new episodes.
04:14
Dean is approving here. He remembers those days too. And I remember when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii.
04:22
And what happened by the second episode they said previously on the Brady Bunch. So we're gonna go back just a little bit so we can say previously where we left
04:30
Jesus. So we get a little bit of context and move forward. Here's what it says. We'll pick up where Jesus dies.
04:38
It says Jesus cried out with a loud voice and he yielded up his spirit. Notice who was in charge here.
04:45
Jesus yielded up his spirit. He decided the time of his death. And it says this. Behold the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
04:55
Now do not think for a second that this curtain in the temple which separated the holy of holies from the holy place that it was some well girly white silky thing that easily rips or something like that or gets a snag.
05:10
No. If you know your Torah then you know that this thing was made of hide. It was thick and it was well this is not easily torn but God tore it from top to bottom which means no human being did this.
05:25
And this was to let us all know that the separating wall of hostility between God and us has been broken down by the blood of Christ.
05:35
So the temple curtain was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook. The rocks were split.
05:41
The tombs were opened. Many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and they appeared to many.
05:51
And when the centurion and those who were with him keeping watch over Jesus saw the earthquake and what took place.
05:59
Let's put a lot into this what took place thing. Remember Jesus didn't open his mouth to defend himself at his trial.
06:07
Not even a peep. And they crucified him at 9 in the morning and then as the prophet
06:13
Amos prophesied in chapter 8 of his prophecy God caused the sun to go down at noon.
06:20
The sun's light failed and darkness was over the whole earth for three hours.
06:26
And if that wasn't enough when Jesus cried out it is finished into your hands I commit my spirit showing he was in charge.
06:33
He died and the soldiers there at the foot of the cross keeping watch over him said filled with awe truly this was the
06:43
Son of God. There were also many women there looking on from a distance. Note that little note from a distance.
06:52
They wanted to see their Lord. They could they had to be there to watch him die but they had to do so at a distance because of their fear.
07:00
They had followed Jesus from Galilee ministering to him among them were Mary Magdalene Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
07:10
When it was evening there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph who was also a disciple of Jesus.
07:18
Now the Gospel of John tells us he was a disciple of Jesus secretly for fear of the
07:23
Jews. And so he went to Pilate he asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate ordered it to be given to him.
07:30
Joseph took the body wrapped it in a clean linen shroud laid it in his own tomb which he had cut in the rock and he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.
07:42
And Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there sitting opposite the tomb still at a distance watching.
07:50
And you can imagine the grief that they must have been experienced. At this time they had lost their
07:56
Savior. They lost their Lord their teacher their rabbi. So the next day after this which is the
08:03
Sabbath which means there's no work to be done. After the day of preparation the chief priests and the
08:09
Pharisees they gathered before Pilate and they said sir we remember how that imposter said while he was still alive after three days
08:18
I will rise. And now their duplicity comes to light.
08:24
Do a little cross -reference work here. Just a few chapters earlier remember the kangaroo court that took place in the middle of the night.
08:31
And they here's what it says in Matthew 26 59. The chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death.
08:40
But they found none. Though many false witnesses came forward and at last two came forward and they said this man said
08:47
I'm able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days. Now watch their answer during the kangaroo court trial.
08:55
So the high priest stood up and he said have you no answer to make? What is this that these men testify against you?
09:02
As if somehow Jesus was blaspheming in the temple of God. But here now that Jesus is dead they go to Pilate and by these words they demonstrate that they knew all along what
09:15
Jesus meant. They were not interested in understanding what he meant. They were interested in killing him.
09:21
And so it says we remember how that imposter said while he was still alive after three days I will rise.
09:27
And when did Jesus say this to them? Well the Gospel of John records that on one occasion Jesus coming into Jerusalem went to the temple and drove the money changers out.
09:37
How dare you turn my father's house into a marketplace. Drove them out and of course the chief priests and the religious leaders at this point needed to spring into action.
09:47
They came right up to Jesus and said by what authority are you doing these things? What sign can you show us?
09:53
And Jesus says tear down this temple. I'll build it again in three days. And they said it's taken 46 years to build this temple and you're gonna build it again in three days?
10:04
But the temple Jesus was talking about was the temple of his body. And these fellows going to Pilate show that they knew what it meant all along.
10:13
And at their trial they feigned ignorance. Oh we don't understand what you mean Jesus. This is what well it looks like to be dead in trespasses and sins and blind and be in hatred with God.
10:27
So they say to Pilate so therefore Pilate order the tomb to be made secure until the third day.
10:33
Lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people he is risen from the dead.
10:39
Like the very first installment of the weekend at Bernie's franchise. Hey Jesus make an appearance.
10:45
Hi. Deader than a doornail. You can't parade a corpse around and inspire faith in people.
10:52
This is ridiculous. But set the guard
10:57
Pilate. Pilate said you've you have a guard of soldiers go make it as secure as you can. So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.
11:07
And everyone said oh yeah that's gonna work. That'll stop Jesus from rising from the dead. These people don't know what they're up to.
11:15
So now our gospel text then continues from this point. Now after the Sabbath toward the dawn of the first day of the week.
11:23
That's Sunday. And I want you to think of this particular day not as the first day of the week.
11:30
But what it really is. And that is the eighth day. The first day of the new creation.
11:36
Because the earth is about to sprout forth the very first fruits of the new creation.
11:42
It says Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold there was a great earthquake.
11:48
For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
11:53
Listen to this angel's description. His appearance was like lightning. His clothing white as snow.
12:01
And what do you think the guards did? For fear of him the guards trembled.
12:08
The Roseboro translation says they wet themselves and became like dead men. I hope they paid him well because they did a miserable job of keeping
12:17
Jesus from rising from the dead. They became like dead men. But the angel said to the women. And listen to these kind words.
12:24
Do not be afraid. That is comforting. In fact we're gonna see in this text that this angel has a message to deliver.
12:35
In fact that's what the word Angelos in Greek means. It means messenger.
12:41
So when we read in the book of Revelation where Jesus is writing. Having John write letters to the different churches.
12:48
To the angel of the church of Philadelphia write. To the angel of the church of Smyrna write.
12:55
The angel in that context is not well a heavenly being. The angel in that context is the messenger of that church.
13:03
And that is her pastor. But in this case we have a heavenly being. And he knowing how awesome he is.
13:10
How amazing he is to look at. And the natural proclivity for us sinful human beings in the presence of such a holy creature.
13:19
We tend to be afraid. He says to them do not be afraid. I know that you seek
13:25
Jesus who was crucified. And that's right. Jesus from this point on will forever be referred to as the one who was crucified.
13:38
Crucified for you. Crucified for me. Suffered the penalty for our sins.
13:44
Filled the breach between man and God so that we can have peace. He is forever the crucified and he will forever have in his hands and his feet and his side the tokens if you would.
13:56
Well the tokens of his crucifixion. They are like medals if you would won in a war.
14:03
And he says to the women he's not here for he has risen as he said. And of course he's risen as he said.
14:11
When has God ever said something is going to happen and it doesn't happen? In Genesis we hear God says let there be light and there was light.
14:18
Jesus said I'm gonna raise from the grave on the third day. And you know what he's gonna do? He's gonna raise from the grave on the third day.
14:24
The logic is impeccable. Come see the place where he lay.
14:30
And isn't this kind? This angel shining as he is. Come and see. He's excited to show them the empty tomb.
14:38
And because of this the very first human beings to proclaim
14:44
Jesus's resurrection from the dead are not men. They are women.
14:50
And this is very appropriate. Because remember Jesus's tomb is in a what? It's in a garden.
14:58
Hmm. I seem to remember something about a garden. All the way back in Genesis we learned that it was the devil and the serpent who deceived our first mother
15:08
Eve. And she was the first to become a sinner in our race. And then Adam also ate and he became a sinner thus plunging us all into this curse that we find ourselves in.
15:20
And so now Jesus reversing everything gives the supreme honor.
15:26
The primary place of proclamation of his resurrection. Not to men but to these women.
15:35
This is a high place of honor and it is appropriate in this particular instance that this is exactly how this is going down.
15:43
So the angel then says this. Go quickly. Tell his disciples that he's risen from the dead.
15:49
Behold he's going before you to Galilee. There you will see him. And now he says this.
15:54
See I have told you. Which is a fine way of saying message delivered. And off he goes.
16:01
So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy. Kind of all mixed together.
16:08
And they ran to tell his disciples and behold Jesus met them and said greetings.
16:15
Now based upon the message that Jesus gave this angel to give you would expect well Jesus was gonna head out to Galilee and wait for the disciples to show up.
16:24
But it's almost as if Jesus couldn't control himself. Have you ever ever wrapped up a
16:31
Christmas present and then you were so excited to see the look on the person's face that you couldn't wait till Christmas to give it to them.
16:40
This is that kind of moment. All right tell my disciples to meet me in Galilee. But oh
16:45
I gotta see the look on their face. So Jesus appears to them and listen to what he says.
16:52
Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee and there they will see me.
16:58
And they took Jesus his feet and they worshipped him. The text says.
17:04
Oh brothers and sisters I would like to tell you that what these women had the privilege of doing.
17:14
Worshipping at the feet of Jesus and hearing from him his voice themselves.
17:21
To do not be afraid that we too will have this exact same opportunity. When we finally see
17:28
Jesus with our own eyes. We will be prostrate before him and hang and cling on to those feet.
17:35
Those nail scarred feet of his and worship and praise him. Because of all of the wondrous deeds that he has done.
17:42
And his word to us also is do not be afraid. Because he has bled and died for our sins.
17:48
And in him there is forgiveness. So go tell my brothers to go to Galilee and there they will see me.
17:55
Brothers and sisters this is not fake news. This is not something you want deleted from your
18:02
Facebook feed. This is something you want to meditate and ponder on. And I would posit if you would.
18:10
This little fact. When we read the Scriptures over and again. We learn that people like these women.
18:17
People like Peter and James and John and eventually the Apostle Paul. They were chosen by Christ himself to be witnesses.
18:28
Important word. And I want you to think for a second that this is witnessed almost in a legal fashion.
18:36
And I would just simply ask the question. How many of these fellows and ladies do we need to put on the witness stand before you'll realize that this is not fake news.
18:47
This is actually something that really happened. Well Paul in 1st Corinthians gives us the list.
18:53
1st Corinthians 15. The list of the witnesses. Let me read from verse 1. Paul says,
18:59
I would remind you brothers of the gospel that I preached to you. Which you received. In which you stand.
19:05
By which you are being saved. Oh good words. If you hold fast to the word that I preached to you.
19:10
Of course unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received.
19:16
That Christ died for our sins. In accordance with the Scriptures. That he was buried and raised on the third day.
19:23
In accordance with the Scriptures. And that he appeared to Cephas and then to the twelve. This list would then include
19:29
Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew the tax collector,
19:35
James the son of Alpheus, Thaddeus, Simon the zealot. And do not forget Matthias.
19:42
You're thinking well what about Judas Iscariot? Well he vacated his office as apostle after he well betrayed
19:52
Christ and then took his own life. And we read in Acts chapter 1 that they had to choose somebody to fill the vacant office.
20:00
And there were two men that met the qualifications. The qualifications were they had to be a follower and disciple of Jesus from the time of his baptism in the
20:08
Jordan River by John the Baptist until his death. And they must be eyewitnesses of his resurrection.
20:14
And Matthias was one of two men whose name was put forward. They prayed through holy dice.
20:20
And the dice or I should say the Lord chose Matthias through the dice. And so there's the twelve.
20:27
And then Paul continues. He appeared to more than 500 brothers at one time.
20:33
That's quite the feat. Most of them are still alive though some have fallen asleep.
20:39
And the ancient church kept track of who these witnesses were. And then Paul says that he appeared to the other
20:44
Apostles. And last of all as to one untimely born Jesus also appeared to me.
20:54
And this is not a small bit of information. Now what we're going to read next
21:01
I would like you to turn to Acts chapter 25. I'll start in verse 23. But in Acts 26 we actually have a very important bit of data.
21:13
In fact what we have in Acts 26 is nothing less than the actual court proceedings of a pre -trial hearing in which the
21:24
Apostle Paul was on trial. This is imperial
21:30
Roman judicial transcript. It is nothing less than that.
21:35
And I want you to note that the Apostle Paul who as he gives us his story will let us know what his posture was towards Christianity in its early days.
21:46
And what changed his mind. And he will also explicitly state what he is on trial for.
21:53
So this is the official imperial Roman transcript of this trial.
21:59
So this is the Apostle Paul literally if you would going on the witness stand and saying
22:05
I promise to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me Jesus. Here's how the story goes.
22:11
Acts 25 23. On the next day Agrippa who is the king of that area and Bernice his wife came with great pomp.
22:19
They entered the audience hall with the military tribunes and the prominent men of the city. Then at the command of Festus Paul was brought in.
22:28
Festus said King Agrippa and all who are present with us you see this man about whom the whole Jewish people petitioned me both in Jerusalem and here shouting that he ought not to live any longer.
22:39
But I have found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the
22:45
Emperor I decided to go ahead and send him. But I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him.
22:52
Therefore I have brought him before you all and especially before you King Agrippa so that after we have examined him
23:00
I may have something to write. For it seems to me unreasonable in sending a prisoner not to indicate the charges against him.
23:09
Now remember back in those days there was no distinction between the executive branch and the judiciary.
23:15
They were mixed together in one office. And so what we're going to see here then is like the convening of a grand jury.
23:25
They are going to hear the evidence and determine whether or not charges need to be filed.
23:32
So this is a pre -trial hearing convened by the grand jury. So Agrippa said to Paul you have permission to speak for yourself and then
23:42
Paul stretched out his hand and he made his defense. Wonderful story now.
23:48
All of this court transcript. I consider myself fortunate that it is before you
23:55
King Agrippa I'm going to make my defense today against all the accusations of the
24:00
Jews especially because you are familiar with all the customs and the controversies of the Jews. Therefore I beg you to listen to me patiently.
24:08
My manner of life from my youth spent from the beginning among my own nation and in Jerusalem is known by all the
24:15
Jews. They have known for a long time if they are willing to testify that according to the strictest party of our religion
24:22
I have lived as a Pharisee and now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our fathers to which our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly worship night and day and for this hope
24:41
I am accused by Jews oh King why is it thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?
24:51
What does Paul think he's on trial for? For his hope in the resurrection.
24:59
His belief that God raises the dead. He was actually put on trial as a witness.
25:07
He says I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things in opposing the name of Jesus of Nazareth and I did so in Jerusalem.
25:18
I not only locked up many of the saints in prison after receiving authority from the chief priests but when they were put to death
25:25
I cast my vote against them and I punished them often in all the synagogues and tried to make them blaspheme and in raging fury against them
25:35
I persecuted them even to foreign cities. This sounds like a man who's hostile to Jesus does it not by his own account and yet I would posit here at this point that what is going to take place next is beyond amazing.
25:52
It's utterly miraculous. The most hated enemy of Christianity the man avowed to do undo it has he's going to become a
26:01
Christian. What we're going to hear next would be the equivalent of Adolf Hitler converting to Judaism.
26:08
That's how amazing this is and listen what he says. So in connection in this connection
26:14
I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and the commission of the chief priests and at midday oh
26:20
King I saw on the way a light from heaven brighter than the Sun that shone around me and those who journeyed with me and when we had all fallen to the ground
26:28
I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language and here's how he would have heard his own voice his own name
26:35
Shaul Shaul why are you persecuting me it's hard for you to kick against the goads
26:43
I can almost do an entire sermon on this idea you persecute Christ's children his sheep his baptized penitent forgiven believers you're persecuting
26:54
Jesus himself why are you persecuting me it's hard for you to kick against the goads and I said who are you
27:01
Lord and the Lord said I am Jesus whom you are persecuting Wow so this arch enemy of Christianity now becomes an eyewitness to the resurrection he says but rise stand upon your feet for I have appeared to you for this purpose to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which
27:32
I will appear to you delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles to whom I am sending you to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light from the power of Satan to God and here's the best part so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me and that's what
27:56
Paul does he becomes one of the greatest missionaries the church has ever heard of and he goes and proclaims that in Christ there is the forgiveness of sins that he is the promised
28:08
Messiah of the Old Testament that he was crucified and that he rose again and he has seen him with his own eyes and through this message people sins are forgiven and they now have a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ so Paul continues therefore
28:26
Oh King Agrippa I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision but declared first to those in Damascus then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea and also to the
28:35
Gentiles that they should repent and turn to God change your mind you're not good you're a sinner repent turn to God be forgiven and then perform deeds in keeping with repentance for this reason the
28:52
Jews seized me in the temple tried to kill me to this day I have had the help that comes from God and so I stand here testifying both too small and too great saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass that the
29:09
Messiah must suffer and that by being the first to rise from the dead he would proclaim light both to our people and to the
29:19
Gentiles and thus Paul's testimony ends watch the reaction as he was saying these things these things in his defense
29:28
Festus said with a loud voice Paul you're out of your mind your great learning is driving you out of your mind you're believing fake news but Paul said
29:41
I am NOT out of my mind most excellent Festus I am speaking true and rational words when you say he is risen indeed you are not pronouncing fake news you are speaking the truth you are saying the most rational thing ever for the king knows about these things and to him
30:05
I speak boldly for I am persuaded that none of these things has escaped his notice for this has not been done in a corner
30:12
King Agrippa do you believe the prophets I know that you believe and a
30:18
Griffith said to Paul in such a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian and Paul said whether short or long
30:26
I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am except for these chains and so you'll notice there's
30:37
Paul on trial literally for his life because they wanted him dead and the only person he could talk about was
30:45
Jesus and he stood his ground he did not recant he spoke the truth he is an eyewitness of the resurrection of Jesus how many of these people must we put on the witness stand before the atheists realize they're wrong this is not fake news this is exactly how it went down the
31:09
Apostle Peter and if you remember while Jesus was being crucified he was in the corner crying like a baby because he had denied
31:19
Christ three times racked with guilt hardly the fellow who well is so bold and who was it that caused him to deny
31:31
Jesus a little servant girl were you one of his disciples no
31:37
I don't know the man but listen to Peter in Acts 10 from our first reading
31:42
Peter is preaching to the Roman centurion Cornelius in his entire household and he says these words
31:50
I understand that God shows no partiality but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to God as for the word that he sent to Israel preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ he's
32:06
Lord of all you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed how
32:13
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil for God was with him and we are let me change the word back into Greek real quick we are martyrs witnesses you've heard the word martyr it comes from the
32:38
Greek word Martire it means to bear witness and we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the
32:48
Jews and in Jerusalem they put him to death by hanging him on a tree but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear not to all the people but to us who have been chosen by God as witnesses martyrs who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead you see it's one thing to say well they maybe experienced some kind of mass hallucination maybe they were passing a bong around or something oh yeah there's
33:17
Jesus man no they ate with him they touched his scars you can't touch something like this and Jesus when he appears to them he says do not be afraid
33:27
I'm not a ghost a ghost doesn't have skin and bones as you see that I have this was no hallucination and Peter then says this
33:39
Christ commanded us and watch what comes next all of this is the command of Christ he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead now we hear something like this and we immediately start to have that chill run through our blood this idea of standing before Jesus on the judgment day is not a happy thought because we all know how guilty we stand before him but listen to what
34:13
Jesus also commands to him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives the forgiveness of sins through his name you will stand before Jesus someday and give an accounting of your life and all of your misdeeds but keep this in mind all who believe in him all of their misdeeds are spoken by for by Christ all of their sins have been bled and died for by Christ so the one who is going to judge the living and the dead is also the one who has bled and died for your sins and he promises you that you receive the forgiveness of sins through believing in his name and if he had not risen from the dead
34:53
I seriously doubt anyone would be trusting in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins but because he rose from the grave we know that the forgiveness of sins offered in his name is true so I ask do you believe this yes and you should this is sane this is rational this is not fake news we read from our epistle text if then you have been raised with Christ brothers and sisters have you been raised with Christ yes
35:30
Deanna Brenda today you were united with Christ in the waters of your baptism today you were buried with Christ today you were raised with him you have been raised with Christ so seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God set your minds on the things that are above not on the things of the earth for you have already died your life is hidden with Christ and God that's right ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters this morning we watched
36:08
Deanna and Brenda die and rise again and now we just wait for their bodies to catch up so your life is hidden now with Christ and here's the best part because he is risen from the dead when
36:24
Christ who is your life appears you will also appear with him in glory fake news
36:32
I think not this is good news YOLO I don't think so let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die hogwash brothers and sisters in Christ we have been united with Jesus in his death and resurrection so let us eat and drink for tomorrow we live he is risen
36:57
