00:00
Oh, Lord, when you're looking at the tumult and difficulty of your life, you're saying, where am
00:08
I going to turn? How am I going to I'm agonizing, I'm filled with anxiety, I'm depressed.
00:14
All the things that we experience, he says to Paul and to us, my grace is sufficient for you.
00:23
So it becomes a matter of faith and belief and acting upon that faith. Do you believe that his grace is sufficient?
00:30
I've already cataloged it. Salvation, he provided it. He's our mediator.
00:36
He's our righteousness. He's given us communion with God. He intercedes for us. He persevered, causes us to persevere to the end.
00:43
He. In verse nine, the second part of verse nine, Paul says, I would rather boast in my infirmities.
00:53
Everyone in the world is puffing their chests out. I'm going to go to a presbytery meeting tomorrow and there's going there's godly men there, but they're going to be prideful in their office.
01:06
They're going to be prideful in the strength of their churches. They're not going to even recognize it.
01:12
I'm going to be pride. Do you realize that? Because Paul grasps hold of this reality and truth in Christ and heeds his calling, we know his name.
01:23
We know who he is. He takes the gospel to the nations. We don't even know these other guys names.
01:31
They believed in their own power. They were seeking their own honor.
01:39
He would not have been entrusted with taking the gospel to the entire world or writing half of the
01:45
God breathed scripture of the New Testament if the power of Christ did not rest upon him.
01:54
That's when I'm strong. Christ said to Paul and through him to us, my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect and weakness.
02:10
Paul's persecution, dishonor, physical pain, chronic illness, suffering, having the thorn driven daily into his flesh.
02:23
The attacks with within from without. He sought our strength.
02:36
Well, the final part of this, some words of application today.
02:47
First thing I would say is you and I, as the list has been mentioned twice, need to look to Christ for our salvation, for a mediator, a high priest, for our righteousness, for communion with God.
03:04
Rash, it's loud, it's sulking, it's quiet, it's private, it spans the spectrum of display.
03:13
Put your pride to death, if there be any fruit in your life, if there be any demonstration of God's power.
03:24
It comes from him, you're merely a vessel, an instrument of Christ and the power of the
03:35
Holy Spirit. And finally, let's talk about all the ways that God has brought us low to the end of ourselves that we would see
03:44
Christ. We don't ever talk about that. Talk about what God has done and this wonderful thing
03:49
I've done. How about your miserable failure and falling on your face that we might see
03:55
Christ and his power on display in you? This would be shocking to the church, be shocking to the world, which so desperately needs
04:09
Christ. Maybe they would see Christ in us if we demonstrated some real humility in front of them.
04:18
Maybe we would see ourselves as instruments, sharp instruments in his hand, and that he would get all the glory and he would throw us away and bury us in the ground to be risen on that last day.
04:34
That would be something. That would be glorious. We learned something today of the effectiveness of Paul.
04:46
And it turns out it's the effectiveness in Christ may be true in us. May Christ's power be on display in this church when we follow our brother
04:58
Paul in this level of obedience. Please pray with Lord, I pray that we would with discernment and wisdom without airing dirty laundry,
05:11
O Lord, that we would show the world all the ways that we are so desperately in need of you.
05:18
And all the ways in which you have supplied and provided our need. O Lord, I thank you for this declaration that your grace is sufficient.
05:31
Cause every one of us to cling to this and live and operate as though this is true.
05:37
This is the reality. Our pride and unbelief prevent us from believing that we don't have to be humbled externally.
05:48
And O Lord, we ask that your power would come upon and rest upon this, your church.
05:57
May it remain upon us all the days of our lives. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. Let's continue our worship, the presentation of the tithes and offerings.
06:36
Your song. And now, Lord, we we give of our lives from the increase you have given to us.
06:43
We pray that it would be effectively used for the advance of your kingdom, the building up of the church, evangelization of the lost.
06:51
We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. Let us now give glory to God in the singing of the
06:59
Gloria Patri DJ. A son.
07:29
Thanks to the Lord. It is a good it is right and a good and joyful thing that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you,
07:41
O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, everlasting God, because you sent your beloved son to redeem us from sin and death and to make us heirs in him of everlasting life, that when he shall come again in power and great triumph to judge the world, we may, without shame or fear, rejoice to behold his appearing.
08:03
Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven, we praise and magnify your glorious name evermore, praising you and singing.
09:28
Let us pray. Almighty God, our heavenly father, who of your tender mercy gave your only son,
09:36
Jesus Christ, to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption, who made there by his one oblation of himself once off for the sins of the whole world and did institute in his holy gospel command us to continue a perpetual memory of that is precious death until his coming again.
09:58
Hear us, O merciful father. We beseech you and grant that we may we that we receiving your creatures of bread and wine, according to your son, our savior,
10:09
Jesus Christ, holy institution and remembrance of his death and passion may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood.
10:21
Amen. You may be seated. Paul, in his letter to the
10:28
Corinthians, wrote this for us, for I received from the
10:33
Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord in the night of which he he was betrayed, took bread.
10:42
And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, which is given for you whenever you take and partake of it.
10:55
Do so in remembrance of me. Likewise, after supper, he took the cup, saying,
11:03
This is the cup. This is the cup. This cup is my blood of the new covenant, which was shed for you as often as you drink it.
11:13
Do so in remembrance of me. Therefore, we proclaim the faith.
11:28
Let us pray this common prayer of approach. We do not presume to come to this your table,
11:36
O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies.
11:44
We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table, but you are the same
11:51
Lord who always shows mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear son,
12:00
Jesus Christ, the drink of his blood, our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through his most precious blood, that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us.
12:15
Amen. Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the gifts of God for the people of God.
12:49
For the. He is.
13:00
He is. He is. He is.
13:29
He is. He is. He is.
13:36
He is.
13:52
He is. Christ stand by.
14:23
Just not the righteous, but the sinners.
14:31
Jesus came to call you in your lonely dreams.
14:54
All the fitness he required is to feel your need of him.
15:04
This he gives you, this he gives you, this he gives you.
15:13
It's the spirit's rising beam.
15:18
It's the spirit's rising beam.
15:30
Lead the mature holy.
15:41
Let no other trust in truth. None but Jesus, none but Jesus, I surrender all.
15:58
Jesus, I surrender, humbly at his feet
16:06
I bow. Worldly pleasures all forsaken, take me,
16:16
Jesus, take me now. I surrender,
16:22
I surrender all, to thee, my precious
16:28
Savior. Under his aid, your holy body, spirit filling, may
16:52
I know thy power divine. I surrender,
17:00
I surrender, I surrender all.
18:03
Take my consecrated
18:10
Lord to thee. Take my moments and my days.
18:19
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
18:24
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
18:30
Of my love, take my feet and let them be.
18:39
Swift and beautiful, stand and let me sing.
18:58
Only for my king, I still will be.
20:03
It shall be thy royal throne.
20:09
Take myself and I will be ever.
20:30
Almighty and ever -living God, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious body and blood, your
20:40
Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. And for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the body of your
20:50
Son and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And O Lord, grant us this other benefit, that you will never allow us to forget these things, but having them imprinted on our hearts, may we grow and increase daily in the faith which hath work in every good deed.
21:09
Now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our
21:18
Lord, to him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, the honor and glory now and forever.
21:26
Amen. Let us sing. Blessings flow. Praise him, all creatures.
21:34
Here belays him. Peace who brought up from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep.
22:00
Through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus, our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
22:15
Amen. Your service is now upon this child.
